Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds

If you're making a created player who's not based on someone previously in the game, you can also avoid the Jeter head bug by not giving him an audio name.

It's not ideal because you don't get a name in the commentary, but at least you can still edit the player's appearance and not get a "locked" player with Jeter's head. (Though if you edit the imported player and ADD an audio name and save, he WILL turn into an un-editable Jeter after all).

So editing an SCEA-created player may still be the better workaround, but if you did use Create A Player from scratch, just make sure he doesn't have an audio name and it should be safe to export/import.

Ok I think I figured out your problem. When you start your franchise make sure you set cpu roster control to off. This will allow you to make changes and set injuries to on, off, or manual.

Here is what I did, it's extremely an annoying thing to have to deal with though.

As soon as the ball is put into play and you see a run is going to score, hit the start button, go to the team select screen, and take control of the opposing team. Resume the game and wait until the next hitter walks up to the plate and then go back to the team select screen and take control of your team again.

It seems to work, the only time it doesn't is when he walks in a run. You can't pause the game unless the ball is put into play.

so ive tried all the ways team profile and cpu profiles selected injuries all manual and cpu roster control off and also tried cpu control on.-but still doesnt work for me.what im wondering is when u enter the disabled list screen(under perssonel)and im in there i can cyle teams fine r2, but r1 does nothing..looking at the screen does it matter if the disabled list is empty or people on it yet?im assuming hitting r-1 was bringing up the roster to then do what u got to do..apparently i just cant get the rosters to come up by pressing r1. as i sim thru the weeks there are no injuries which makes me belive i have the right settings placed so i should be able to do the injuring.

However, you can go to pending transactions and scroll though each teams pending trades and reject any bad ones or unrealistic ones for any team. Or if they look like OK trades you can let them go. The only thing with this is you have to check the pending transactions like every 3 days or so. Also the CPU doesn't really make trades in July because every teams "logic" or whatever it is called is set to "normal" instead of stuff like "playoff push" or "rebuild".

If you leave trades on manual the CPU will not make any trades and you can only make trades whether it be with your team or between "CPU" teams.
so i noticed you said the new logic is not there with 30 team control....which do u mean exactly? if we set cpu roster control to OFF- but still assign profiles to all the teams will the new logic be there? or if you go ahead and assign profiles to all the teams does that in fact take away the new logic?hoping its the first

No the new trade logic only works in single team control no matter what you set the cpu roster control too. For example in my franchise I think it was the phillies were offering roy oswalt for bryce harper. so I saw this an stepped in and rejected it.

For my 'cpu' controlled teams I have injuries set to 'on'. Only on my user settings I have injuries set to 'manual'. And before you go into the disable list menu make sure have the team that you use for the user settings up. For example I use the orioles as my user setting team. When I am looking at the franchise home screen, or any other screen in franchise mode, i can hit r2 or l2 to switch teams. However you want the team selected as your user settings team selected before going to the disable list. Then once you are in the disable list menu and you see the injured players list, you can hit r1 to get to 'manage injuries'. Once you are there, you can then hit r2 to change teams. You just have to make sure you are in your user controlled team before you go to the disable list menu.

Again this is with injuries set to manual for just the user settings team. If you set injuries to manual for both the user settings and your 'cpu' profile it shouldn't matter and you can have any team up on the franchise home screen and go to the disable list from there.

You can assign a user profile to all teams but then you control everything and I don't know if the cpu will make trades then

You did a 30 team sim? Because when I do 30 team sim there are never any trades in July and they are all in may and the teams never switch to playoff push or rebuild. I don't know it's really weird. Glad you figured out injuries though.

I might have found a fix for the closer getting pulled after giving up hit bug. Not sure though as I only tested it for a batter. Pause the game when the closer comes in, move your controller to the CPU team. Take out any guys warming up in the bullpen.

Problem is the computer constantly is putting guys to warm up I think so you have to do this often. I was playing Pittsburgh and could see when the CPU was warming up their pitchers from the batters view.

Anyway, I did this to start the 9th inning when the CPU closer came in. I hit a homerun after doing this and closer stayed in. Then next batter, I hit another one and then closer was yanked (but in my test I only took the warming up guys out before the first batter....after the first home run, I could see the CPU bullpen warming up again but didn't think the computer would put the guys warming up in so quickly...but after the 2nd homerun it did an immediate yank despite bullpen guys being cold).

So, this may not be a real fix. It isn't a good fix as you have to do it pretty much every batter I think. But it worked for at least one batter in my test.
