With the release of the wonderful OSFM roster file just around the corner, I've been getting excited to start playing Franchise Mode. I haven't played a full 162-game season in 6 years or so and I have (obviously) never done one on The Show.

I would like to be able to preset injuries to reflect real life (Wainwright is a perfect example). It seems (after reading this thread) that the only way to do this is with a 30-team Franchise. It also seems as though a 30-team Franchise ruins trade logic, but a 1-team Franchise ruins lineup logic (ie Pujols leading off).

Is there a way for me to get real-life injuries into my Franchise, not screw up trade logic (or have to veto trades with no trades occuring after May), and not have terrible lineup/rotation logic?

I came to this thread looking to see how to preset injuries (and hopefully not have to control evey team). Now it looks like if I do, I'll have to screw up trade logic. If I don't (ie 1-team Franchise), the lineup logic will be terrible. Am I right?

If someone can give me some advice, I'd appreciate it. At this point, I'm thinking of just throwing in the towel on The Show 11 Franchise Mode.
    Steelerfan;

You DO NOT need to have 30 team control on to manually injure players...
You just have to go into the USER SETTINGS...GAMEPLAY SETTINGS and turn injuries to MANUAL.....not INJURY MANAGEMENT(I'm not yelling with CAPS....I'm designating an on screen display option in the game)...
It works with 1 team or 30 team and anything in between.
Go to the DISABLED LIST and hit R1 on your team screens for the injury pages...

Thanks Knight, sorry but I have another question on the same topic . How do I get them on a roster or free agent list from my hdd ? I'm new to the forums & hope I'm not bugging you. I usually can find the answers just looking myself through the forums.

Yea like Knight said you don't need 30 team control to manage injuries. So you could use 1 team control and you would have your trade logic and lineup logic, and then turn injuries to manual, the only problem you would run in to eventually is the contract renewal/ 2014 bug or whatever it is being called.

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds

Thank you all for your answers, I really appreciate it.

Now, that I understand that, for me, a 1-team Franchise will be best, I have some direction. I do, however, have a new question (because of my overall unfamiliarity with Franchise Mode).

If I do the manual injury input thing, can I turn it off after I input them? What I'm getting at, is I want injuries to still occur, in sim and user games, to CPU teams. Will this be possible? Will it matter if I leave Injuries at any particular setting?

I can deal with the 2014 problem, I will only play 1 season. If I want to sim some more after I complete the one I actually play, I'll hope the patch will help already-in-progress Franchises. If not, it's not a big loss, to me.

Problem is the computer constantly is putting guys to warm up I think so you have to do this often. I was playing Pittsburgh and could see when the CPU was warming up their pitchers from the batters view.

Anyway, I did this to start the 9th inning when the CPU closer came in. I hit a homerun after doing this and closer stayed in. Then next batter, I hit another one and then closer was yanked (but in my test I only took the warming up guys out before the first batter....after the first home run, I could see the CPU bullpen warming up again but didn't think the computer would put the guys warming up in so quickly...but after the 2nd homerun it did an immediate yank despite bullpen guys being cold).

So, this may not be a real fix. It isn't a good fix as you have to do it pretty much every batter I think. But it worked for at least one batter in my test.

                  Russell,

any chance that in the future we'll be able to control the lineups(& bullpens) for cpu-opponents' teams??

OK, I figured this part out, thanks again to those that offered help.

I started a Franchise, added 220-day injuries to Wainwright and Strausberg, set INJURIES back to ON, and simmed through the preseason and the first 3 days of the regular season. At that point, the Cards and Nats had still not placed these players on the DL. They were on the bench with 6+ month injuries. Is there a way to have them place injured players on the DL without doing a 30-team Franchise?

Also, is there a good list somewhere of all MLB injuries with the expected time the player will be out? Obviously, just 15 or 60-day DL doesn't tell the whole story. I'll research injury timeframes myself, if need be, but I thought you guys may know of a good source (I'd probably use covers.com, lol). Thanks.

Has there been any word about a patch for this?

Or are they just sweeping this under the rug again?

EDIT: So according to Goggle SCEA is working on a patch, lets say that isn't true since we can't take everything to heart on the internet but if it is true would I have to re-start my franchise?

Ok to clarify, I understand how to setup manual injuries, but am I hearing correct that the trade logic is not updated on 30 team control. If so, that would make a lot of sense, because I was starting to worry with some of the off the wall trades I was seeing.

So, I understand how to sim the games to see out of town scores, but what is the fix for the lineup logic with single team control? Is it to just set them in the pre-game or to set the 25 man rosters before the season starts, or is there not a 100% fix?
