Indeed, my only real annoyance for starting a franchise would be this, but with this workaround it should be fine, if annoying to have to do, but essential.

If he walks in a run theres every chance he should be yanked anyway so we can deal with that.

Truly hoping its fixed in the next patch, if not...will have to use this

Problem is the computer constantly is putting guys to warm up I think so you have to do this often. I was playing Pittsburgh and could see when the CPU was warming up their pitchers from the batters view.

Anyway, I did this to start the 9th inning when the CPU closer came in. I hit a homerun after doing this and closer stayed in. Then next batter, I hit another one and then closer was yanked (but in my test I only took the warming up guys out before the first batter....after the first home run, I could see the CPU bullpen warming up again but didn't think the computer would put the guys warming up in so quickly...but after the 2nd homerun it did an immediate yank despite bullpen guys being cold).

So, this may not be a real fix. It isn't a good fix as you have to do it pretty much every batter I think. But it worked for at least one batter in my test.

The closer getting pulled is one of the fixes for the next patch

I'll play your sidekick, since you've been more involved in the OS/MLB 11 community longer than I have. :P But I demand I get to wear a cape. And we don't have nipples on our body armor suits.

Need help. Using analog pitching how do I pick off base runners. I have tried everything.

And I have got an answer on this before but when using analog batting how do I choose contact or power. I hit button no indication that it does anything. Do I have to have batting skill on certain level.

Since you are an Avs fan (and these days, that's tough to admit), I will help you out.

To pickoff a runner, you will do the following:

-Select the pitch you want to throw.

-After selecting the pitch, DO NOT touch the R-stick, as that will start the pitching motion and thus, you'll be unable to do anything but pitch the pitch.

-The next step after selecting the pitch (and leaving the R-stick alone) is to hold down the L2 button and then press square. There are 3 types of pickoffs

                  -Hit L2 + square = regular pickoff

-Hit L2 + hold down square = deceptive pickoff

-Hit L2 + tap square twice = quick pickoff. Beware that you have a greater chance at throwing the ball away using this option.

As for your Analog batting question:

-Yes, press either Square (power) or Circle (contact) before the pitcher begins his windup. You can press X (normal), too, but no real need b/c the swing defaults to normal if you don't input anything. You should feel a small rumble in the DS3 when you press either Square or Circle. After that, it's all about the R-stick.

I bat on Veteran with Analog and this works fine for me.

I hope that helps you out.

Thanks DJ. Huge help on the pick off question. I was getting so frustrated trying to figure that out. As for the selecting power or contact that's what I have been doing no rumble so I don't know what's wrong. But still huge thanks on pick off help.

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds

After reading this thread, I'm a bit confused and I have a bit of a headache, lol. Please help me, if you can.

With the release of the wonderful OSFM roster file just around the corner, I've been getting excited to start playing Franchise Mode. I haven't played a full 162-game season in 6 years or so and I have (obviously) never done one on The Show.

I would like to be able to preset injuries to reflect real life (Wainwright is a perfect example). It seems (after reading this thread) that the only way to do this is with a 30-team Franchise. It also seems as though a 30-team Franchise ruins trade logic, but a 1-team Franchise ruins lineup logic (ie Pujols leading off).

Is there a way for me to get real-life injuries into my Franchise, not screw up trade logic (or have to veto trades with no trades occuring after May), and not have terrible lineup/rotation logic?

I came to this thread looking to see how to preset injuries (and hopefully not have to control evey team). Now it looks like if I do, I'll have to screw up trade logic. If I don't (ie 1-team Franchise), the lineup logic will be terrible. Am I right?

If someone can give me some advice, I'd appreciate it. At this point, I'm thinking of just throwing in the towel on The Show 11 Franchise Mode.

i have a question for the 30team franchise. The guide says that on Dec2 I should offer all "contract renewable" players but what if the cpu already offered them contracts (indicated that the team already had the best offer logo). Do I still need to manually renew them or just fill those that have not been offered by the cpu???

negative. only the ones that the CPU hasn't offered contracts to yet.

                            short answer: no.
long answer: wait to see what the 2nd patch addresses as far as trade logic in 30 vs 1 team control. tender/non-tender - FA issues in franchise. Then go from there.

This is both good and bad news.

The good = its going to be fixed

The bad = theres no way i can now bring myself to start my franchise until the patch hits now

I was hoping to start end of this week, patch i would assume may not be ready for then but who knows what the men in white coats at SCEA headquarters may be able to do!

                              Thanks for the update Ramone.
