Are the umps consistent with their strike zone from game to game? Say one of the umps has consistently called a strike that barely clips the inside corner a strike, the next time he is behind the plate, will he continue to call that a strike?

It was hard to keep track of something like this at the event. I am thinking that they will be pretty consistent when they are back behind the plate calling the next game. There are some very different strikes zones called this year. Good and bad depending on which end of the plate you are on! Positive change overall!

I read that earlier (perhaps in this thread, in response to h&v?) the confidence are still not saved in 12... hopefully wrong! Does this means we still have hope?

You speaking in regards to in-game saves?

If so, the confidence meter still resets the way it did in '11.

Hmmm maybe I was hearing voices or I mixed up with some other older posts, like from '09 or so, that I've read recently... I'd be ecstatic to be wrong there!

I didn't notice that same consistency from most umps as time progressed in the game. It's probably one thing I didn't like. (Not a big deal IMO)

Remember that one game where they kept calling a high strike? (Umps name was something strange like Gus Gunderson) Later on in the game I couldn't get that same high strike called and he widened it to low and away.

Or maybe it was against Ramone...

It must have been with Ramone.

I don't remember wishy-washy umps. I thought they were pretty consistent calling the whole game where if they did not give you one side of the K zone it rang true for majority of the game.

Yeah it may have been that game against Ramone - We even paused to check the ump's name. Thought it was you. I mean I did get screwed enough in our game!

Hopefully SOME umps are inconsistent but there are others who are consistent in the interpretation of the zone, no matter how off that is.

Yeah, that was frustrating in the past. I realize real umps are going to be somewhat inconsistent within their own variable strike zone. But, there should be some pattern to it and not an abrupt change like you describe.

On a related note, I think it was touched on at some point, but what are your (any CE attendee) impressions of the strike zone in general?

I'd love to hear that high/corner calls aren't given nearly as much, even if they are technically strikes. You rarely see an ump give a pitcher something that is at both the top and inside/outside edge of the zone. Also, any chance of mistake/hanging breaking balls not being called strikes when they're way up in the zone? I think this is less common now with QuesTech, but you still see it occasionally when a pitcher obviously misses his target.

Brett, thanks for answering my question on in-game saves and pitchers' confidence, even if it wasn't the answer I was hoping to hear.

It could be worse, though. In-game saves is something I use a lot, so I'm happy we have the option. Maybe in the future it's something the SCEA team can look into?

Strike zone looked lower but it was just certain angles on the BC cam. No difference.

this may have been answered, so, sorry in advance if it has already been asked.

When paying at Fenway, is there a new fielding camera that will allow you to see the ball go over the green monster now??
I know in previous versions the camera wouldnt angle high enough and you could never see the homerun balls land over the monster.

I specifically asked about this because it bothers me. I would not expect it to be fixed for 12.
