Re: Unique ways to get deeper into dynasties?
Play the final game of every series until August 1st. Play every game from August 1st until the team clinches a playoff spot or is eliminated from contention. I'll keep playing the season I've clinched a wild card spot, but the division title is still in doubt.
Just wondering (maybe Knight knows)......will we have the option of two playoff teams in dynasty mode this year?- LETS GO RED SOX!!!

Re: Unique ways to get deeper into dynasties?
I generally play 2-3 games per calender month, and then play all of the postseason games if my team makes it. If I am a few games back, I will try and play more in key september match ups to try and get my team into the playoffs, but I usually will sim once the game is decided either way.Comment

This is one I have never thought about. Sounds like you can get your team going in the right/wrong direction before simming. I like itCheck out my Twitch channel: http://www.twitch.tv/wiser66Comment

Re: Unique ways to get deeper into dynasties?
I am hoping that with being able to continue my franchise on the Vita that I will be able to finish at least one full season and then probably play like 30-50 games a season from then on. The only year I finished all 162 games was MLB 08 the Show on the PSP so I should be able to play more often this year then the last few years when only playing on PS3.ESPN NFL 2K5 GREATEST FOOTBALL GAME EVER!

Re: Unique ways to get deeper into dynasties?
This is actually a dilemma for me.
For my current franchise, I've been playing every single game. Doing this since the last December, I barely got several games into post-all-star a this point. It's fun and very satisfying to see that the records and stats are the combination of player ratings heavily influenced by my skills, but knowing that I won't go into several seasons, I cannot enjoy the long-term strategy part... since it doesn't make sense to take a rebuilding strategy when you really won't be taking time to rebuild...
What I'm thinking of doing for one of my franchises is this: I sim all games by default and vow not to play any games myself. I take that as the bottom line, but I can watch interesting games as CPU vs CPU or using MoM, because, after all, what's the point of ignoring the best part of the Show which is gameplay.... I avoid playing myself, since my goal here is to do GM work and not to use my gameplay skills to influence the outcome. Those interesting games may include post-season games, when something is at stake, etc. For this, I'll probably take a weaker franchise team, so that I get to take several years rebuilding the club. And once the team becomes good enough, I'll remove the restriction on not playing and try to actually play myself and take them to the top (or my skills may actually fail them). How many years will it take to get there? I don't know, but at least this way I feel I'll get quite a few years doing GM work till the team becomes good enough.
For another franchise for which I may play every game, I might just take a good ball club good enough/ready for wildcard, since I don't think I can play more than one or two seasons playing every game anyways, and the goal needs to be fun to achieve within a year or two.
There really are many different ways to enjoy this game! But what I love about the Show right now is by far the gameplay, and if possible I want all my games to go through the gameplay engine via CPU vs CPU mode (even when I sim). Since it's not possible/practical to do so right now, I may make a compromise by separating GM part and gameplay parts like I wrote above.Comment

Re: Unique ways to get deeper into dynasties?
Here are my rules for franchise games:
Game 1 of the series: All 9 - mercy rule is 7 after 7.
Game 2: Just pitching; fast-forwarding through the half-inning that I bat.
Game 3: Just batting (obviously simming through the pitching innings)
It's a unique way of being involved, but not necessarily controlling every outcome.Comment

Re: Unique ways to get deeper into dynasties?
It's interesting reading how each of us handles this issue differently.
Me?
I can't Sim...at all, ever, have to play every at bat of every game otherwise I don't feel the results are "mine", have to live and die completely by my own doing.
Makes it harder to go years deep into a franchise but I'm so set in my ways I can't change nowComment

That's really my issue with all sports games. Trying to get a mix of still playing franchise but having a way for the players ratings/skills to matter but with me also getting some enjoyment playing.Joshua:

Re: Unique ways to get deeper into dynasties?
Cpu v Cpu player here (or watcher is probably the best word)
I pick out the best games of the day, like tv and watch these as cpu v cpu. Having the ability to watch any game from any team's schedule is massively important...and from the "chats" I had with Kolbe in the past I was so glad when they put this feature into the game. This means you can play at being your own tv director and pick out the best/important matchups.
This allows some freshness as it's not the same team(s) every single day - but, of course, it can be..the choice is down to me.
That's how I do it...I won't say that I go massivley deep into franchise mode...I can usually get in a season running alongside the real life MLB season.Dedicated member of the CPU v CPU worldwide brethren.Comment

Re: Unique ways to get deeper into dynasties?
cool ideas... I have always wanted to be involved in every game without playing all of the games. So, I would play Sportbroadcast mode, and then when I had to make a pitching change I would come in and play out the rest of the game... So essentially I would throw every pitch with the bullpen and only about say 10-15 starts where I would play out the whole game. I would also hit after I came into the game as well.David P
Thank you SCEA, for adopting my ideas for a Playoff feature and eventually an 'online franchise'. No credit needed to be given... I am just happy you are working towards it...Comment
