I suck at hitting. I took the Angels, because I know I strikeout more than Mark Reynolds, and figured they would help me. I'm 1-1 through two games against the Royals, winning the first 2-0, and losing the second 4-1. I had 3 base hits in each game. Struck out 10 times the first game, and 12 times the 2nd. I need to pick it up before I travel to the Yankees next week. At least I can say it's a lot of fun pitching with the guys in the rotation, they're nasty.

Mariners continue their winning ways, taking the first two at home to Cleveland. Game one saw the Indians jump out to a 3-0 lead after a Carlos Santana homerun off a King Felix, but the M's responded with the long ball to win 5-3. Game two was a simulation win from Matt Garza. Seattle is just one game up on the Angels and the Rangers at this point in the season.

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
I managed to take the series from the Royals by winning the finale 2-1. C.J. Wilson was outstanding, striking out 11 in 7 innings. I only got 5 hits, but I feel better about myself because I only struck out 6 times. I just need to make sure I swing at good pitches. I'm swinging at pitches on the corners early in the count, and hitting lazy popups and grounders. I'll get better with practice.
Now we're going on a 6-game road trip to Minnesota and New York.Comment

6-6 right now with my Rays. Just getting Upton back from the DL. He'll make his season debut on the road against Toronto. Farnsworth is still on the DL with elbow tendinitis and Fuld is out another 2 months or so.
To make room for Upton coming back to the club, we are sending Elliot Johnson back down to Durham.
With Upton back, Jennings will shift from CF to LF and Matt Joyce will shift from LF back to RF.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Lost the second series of the year against the A's, 2-1. Won the opener because of an outstanding performance by Aaron Crow as he took a perfect game into the 7th, but it was broken up with 2 outs by Seth Smith. The Royals then lost the next two games and, after a day off, will begin their first homestand of the season.Comment

Currently 10-12 with the Red Sox. I feel like the Jose Iglesias expirement may be ending soon as e is hitting .078 with 0hr and 1rbi after 22games. His glove hasnt been helping as much as advertised. Thinking of packaging him and Xander Bogaerts and getting back young, quality SS back, possibly Asdrubal, or Andrus, but the trade deadline is far away still.

I don't know if this is the right place but I have a question for some of you. Along with my cardinals franchise, I also do one with the orioles but I was wondering something....
How did you guys handle Dylan Bundy? Do you have him in your starting five or in the minors still?Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Just swept the Cleveland Indians, who are 3-8 in my franchise. I played game one, and took the win. The second game was a sim, but Matt Garza did not disappoint, beating Ubaldo 8-3. Game three was a pitchers dual between the shockingly fantastic Jason Vargas and Justin Masterson. I managed to score two in the seventh, but Vargas allowed a solo shot to Carlos Santana. Brandon League came on in the ninth and shut the door. Mariners have a one game lead over the Angels.
On a second note, I really can't hit with Ichiro.EPL - Arsenal

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
I am absolutely tearing the cover off the ball with Franklin Gutierrez and *GULP* BRENDAN RYAN hahaha. Sitting at 2-1 with our next game at Texas. I also called up Hultzen to take the #5 spot as Noesi just didn't cut it in Spring Training. I expect to have Walker and Paxton called up by the end of the year. If Ryan keeps this up I'll have no reason to call up Nick Franklin as much as I want too. I'm feeling optimistic about this year and hopefully the M's can make a run!!!Just swept the Cleveland Indians, who are 3-8 in my franchise. I played game one, and took the win. I was not very good with Noesi either, but Iwakuma is a diamond in the rough in my franchise. Ryan is on my bench, as I use Kawasaki. He is a good contact hitter and with him, Figgins, Guti and Ichiro, I steal a lot of bases.EPL - Arsenal

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Playing as the Cubs, with OSFM rosters of course. (TNK All-star sliders, with some small edits)
Just finished the opening 3 game set against the Nationals.
Dropped the first game 5-2. Couldn't do a thing against Strasburg til the bottom of the 8th. Seemed like he hit nothing BUT the edges of the strike zone.
Took the second game 3-2. It was raining during the game, resulting in 3 Nats throwing errors. Allowed me to score 3 runs during the 6th on only 3 total hits. Very close game.(Got the no errors trophy during this game, so that was cool.)
Final game of the series. Took it 5-2, behind Soriano exploding for a 4-4, 3 HR game and knocking in all 5 runs. Jordan Zimmermann just got rocked right out the gate and never recovered. He showed slight splashes thanks in part to some of my terrible players.
Side notes:
Ian Desmond was abysmal during the series. First 2 games he went 1-9, ended up 3-13. Not much of a leadoff hitter for the Nats.
I began the new era of the Cubs in the third game by playing both Jackson and Rizzo. Vitters has yet to start, but has gotten a couple PH opportunities. Jackson is going to become a starter soon. DeJesus is awful so far. With a .181 AVG through the series, he may not remain my leadoff for very long.
Soto(.100AVG), Barney(.091AVG) and LaHair(.000AVG) are all terrible to this point.
Stewart, surprisingly, is fairing quite well. .300AVG, 3 2Bs, .900 OPS. I was prepared to bench him and begin starting Vitters. However, it looks like that may wait a bit longer.
After having sent both DeWitt and Baker down to AAA to make room for the young guns...I am not sure what to do with Barney now. With his struggles, I might plug Vitters in at 2B, just to give Vitters some actual playing time and see how he fares.
Also surprising, Samardzija performed excellently. 7.1IP, 5 Hits, 1 BB, 7 Ks, 1.23 ERA. Was expecting complete failure from him.
After this small sample size, my only true pitching disappointment seems to be my supposed "Ace", Garza. 5.40 ERA in his loss in the Opening Day game and once again no run support.
Next up, a 4 game set against Milwaukee. After that series, I may re-evaluate the team...see where to go from there.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Anyone else choose the Cubs as their franchise team cause of the Show commercial? lol
Really bad start to Spring training for the cubbies 2-4. Still trying to figure out my players and stuff. Pitching is turrible for me and I'm going to need to make a move or find a young guy I can rely on. Dempster and Garza have not gotten off to good starts so I'm worried about that. I'm also looking to move Soriano sometime this season probably to a contending AL team where he doesn't have to field. This is my first year playing The Show (360 owner)We'll see how this goes.Comment
