1st game after all star break at NY Yankees. 1st time seeing Ichiro in Yankee pinstripe. Haren pitched and my team should have stayed on break. The Bronx Bombers blew us out 11-2 I hope that this is not a preview of things to come. The only bright spot was Albert Pujols hit his 30th HR, I need bullpen help looking at bottom dwellers for relievers.

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Cubs Update: 10-6 (1st-place)
Game 1: With a 13mph wind blowing out to left-center, the crowd got plenty of souvenirs today, as the Reds used the long ball to jump out to an early lead and never looked back, taking game 1 by a score of 7-2. Cincy's Homer Bailey went 8 strong giving up just 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 2, improving his record to 2-1. Chicago's C. Volstad was shelled today, giving up 5 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2, as he fell to 1-1 on the year.
Cincy put Volstad and the Cubbies in an early hole, as they put up a 4 spot in the 1st, courtesy of 2 homeruns by J. Bruce and the red-hot C. Heisey. Bruce's was a solo shot, but it was Heresy's 3-run bomb that sunk the Cubs early. Heisey would add 2 more RBIs with a double later in the game. He finished the day going 2-5 with a double, HR, 5 RBIs, R. The Reds left Wrigley a total of 3 times today, Bruce, Heisey, & Cozart.
The only bright spot for the Cubbies was T. Campana hitting his 1st HR of the the season, and his 2nd of his young MLB career. Chicago's 2nd run came by way of a J. Mather solo-shot to left-center. Manager D. Sveum did not field a lineup of his starters today, as many are in the midst of cold-streaks. Soriano, Soto, Stewart, & Barney all had the day off to try and collect themselves. J. Baker strained a hamstring (1-6 days) on a play and had to leave the game. Oh, it was also “Cap Giveaway” night.... many of those caps were left in the stadium after the game.
Game 2: The Reds hit machine continued in game 2, as Heisey and Bruce lead the way to a 9-2 drubbing. B. Arroyo went 8.1 IP, scattering 3 hits and giving up the 2 runs. He sent 10 Cubbies back to the dugout on K's. He improves to 1-2 on the season. Cubs' starter P. Maholm was saddled with the loss to fall to 1-1. He gave up 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Cincy's Heisey continues to hit the cover off the ball, going 3-4 with 2 doubles and a run. Bruce contributed to the carnage with a 2-4 day which included 2 doubles, BB, driving in 3 runs, and scoring a run.
Chicago's lowly 2 runs came on solo-HRs by I. Stewart (2) and D. DeJesus (2).
Game 3: The Cubbies avoid the series sweep with a 4-2 win in Game 3. Dempster went 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1, to improve to 2-1 on the year. Cincy's J. Cueto was saddled with the loss, going 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and striking out 6. He falls to 0-3 on the year. Chicago's C. Marmol came in and picked up the save, his 8th in as many opportunities. He leads the majors in saves.
It was I. Stewart and D. Barney who supplied the offense today for the Cubs. Barney went 1-2 with 2 RBIs and Stewart was 1-3, with a HR(3), 2 RBIs, and a run scored. B. Lahair continues to swing a hot bat, going 3-3 and scoring 2 runs. He's now batting .308 on the year.
Despite losing the series, the Cubs still sit atop the NL Central all alone with a 10-6 record. The 2nd-place Cardinals(9-7) visit the friendly confines next for a 3-game set. Just as the Cubs, they are 6-4 in their last 10 games, although they are coming off a loss to Pittsburgh.
They have one player on the DL, SS Tyler Greene with a broken ankle.
St. Louis – Who's Hot over last 10 games
SS R. Furcal: .333, 14 hits, 2 RBIs
RF C. Beltran: .308, 12 hits, 2 HR, 10 RBIs
1B L. Berkman: .412, 14 hits, 3 HR, 9 RBIs
Chicago
1B B. Lahair: .353, 12 hits, 2 HR, 3 RBIs
CL C. Marmol: 1.13 ERA, 4 K, 8/8 Saves
B. Lahair is tied for 2nd in the league with 6 doubles. T. Campana leads the league in triples with 3. A. Soriano is tied for 2nd in the league in HR with 4. SP M. Garza is 2nd in the league in ERA with a minuscule 0.82 SP R. Dempster is tied for 10th in the league in strikeouts with 22.Last edited by RGmoney; 05-05-2012, 12:43 AM.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Just made it to the All-Star break in my A's franchise. I play one game per series, which ends up being 52 games per season. At the break I'm 47-38, 3 games behind 1st place Texas. I've made some trades to improve my team, including acquiring Jair Jurrjens, Mark Reynolds, and Gordon Beckham. My statistical leaders are Brandon Allen (.314 BA, 13 HR, 35 RBI), Mark Reynolds (.279 BA, 17 HR, 39 RBI), Yoenis Cespedes (.268 BA, 13 HR, 48 RBI), Dallas Braden (9-1, 2.39 ERA, 52 SO), Brian Fuentes (4-1, 1.04 ERA, 30 SO), and Jair Jurrjens (8-4, 5.30 ERA, 92 SO).
The current divisional leaders are the Marlins (56-30), Brewers (54-31), Diamondbacks (54-31), Yankees (54-31), Tigers (50-37), and Rangers (50-35). League leaders include Joe Mauer (.347 BA) and Troy Tulowitzki (.326 BA), Prince Fielder (31 HR, 91 RBI) and Joey Votto (23 HR), Aramis Ramirez (65 RBI), Justin Verlander (13 wins, 156 SO) and Yovani Gallardo (12 wins), Michael Pineda (1.76 ERA) and Josh Johnson (1.82 ERA), and Stephen Strasburg (138 SO).Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Made a move in my Mariners franchise, I was getting tired of Gutierrez. I packaged Gutierrez, Vargas, and a B prospect to Cincy for Drew Stubbs (The Reds really wanted Guti). Then I signed Scott Kazmir to a 1 year 2 million deal to take Vargas' spot in the rotation until one of the super-prospects is ready.
I was at the Arizona series, which is about halfway into June, first M's hit from Stubbs is a two-run tater to the opposite field

Montero for AL ROY

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
I am going to be starting up a franchise but not sure which team i should play with. I always play with the cardinals because im a die hard cardinals fan but i think this year its gonna be too easy to play with them. I want to stay in the National League and i want a team with a decent farm system and alot of upside in the future. Any suggestions????????Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
We are at nearly identical points in our Franchises! Cool.Ryan Braun is a beast in this game. I have been playing the show since 09' and have had many great hitters on my team such as Pujols. Its very rare that he doesnt at least get 1 hit a game.
I have played every game expect one which i simmed because the game froze midgame. I am close to the end of May and I am 28-17 with the Brewers. These stats are from Allstar batting and hitting.
Braun is batting .372 14hr 40RBI and leads the NL in AVG. HR. 1st in doubles with 16, 1st in triples with 5, and forgot but either 1st or 2nd in RBI. All the other great hitters i have played with none to me has hit as good Braun is in this game. Its still not too far into the season and things can change. But i have never lead the MLB leaderboards at the end of the season in HR,RBI,or AVG in any show I have played. Braun might be the first
Yeah, those are great numbers. Texiera has 42 RBI's for me and that's good enough to lead the AL so I'd assume your numbers with Braun are certainly at least top 3.
Nice update. I'm having the greatest individual season in baseball's history with CC Sabathia right now! LOL! You wouldn't believe me if I told you. Let's just say I've never lead anything like this either. And I lead a lot with him! Look for my update in a few weeks.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
I'm about to start a new 'chise with the new OSFM v3 rosters but I can't decide which team to use... I'll most likely be doing a fantasy draft like I usually do so it doesn't matter which team based off of the roster. I think I want to be an NL team since I prefer to not have a DH (makes the game more interesting, imo) so I'm basically looking for nice uniforms, a stadium that looks great in-game, and probably a team that hasn't won for awhile (No Phillies, Giants, Cardinals).
Throw out some recommendations for me! Thanks!Comment

I would say D'Backs, Dodgers, Pirates or Cubs, based on your criteriaComment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
SAN DIEGO, CA- The Phillies came out strong in this one, but a late collapse led to them leaving Petco Park with their heads down.
In his first game back from a small trip to Lehigh Valley, John Mayberry Jr. showed why he is worthy of remaining on the big club. In the first inning, after Victorino found himself on base, Mayberry slammed a low fastball into the left field bleachers. Early on, the Phillies were in the lead.
Hamels was on the mound, and pitched a masterful game. That is, until the 8th.
The score was 4-0 Phillies (2 other runs came on an 2RBI GRD by Mayberry) and the game looked to be all but over. Hamels was dealing, and the Padres hadn't found anyway to sustain a rally against him, having only 4 hits.
The first 2 Padres got on base. First, a single. Then a double. It was 1st and 3rd with no outs. The runner on first steals second to no throw, fearing the runner on 3rd coming home. Chase Headley is at the plate and hits a towering fly ball that bounces off the top of the left field wall. Both runs score. 2-4 Phillies.
The rally keeps going. A single gets Headley in. Hamels is pulled and in goes Schwimer. Showing promise, he strikes out the first batter. Then, 2 more singles, a double to the hole and the Padres are up 6-4.
The Phillies could not do anything against the Padres closer, and went down in order to end the game.
When asked about the game, Manuel said this, "Our bullpen needs to get better. When your starter only gives up 2 runs, your offense scores 4, you know something is wrong. I don't know what we will do. Maybe change roles around. All I know is something will change. We will get better."
The Phillies fall to 4-8. 4 games under .500. Not the start any of us envisioned.
SpoilerFirst time doing something like this. Figured it would be fun, since I plan to be a journalist. A bit messy since I don't remember all the details, but not bad for my first shot.HoosiersPacersPhilliesRavens

That's true but the camo jerseys are hideous.... But I'm still leaning towards Padres just because Dodger Stadium is quite boring with the desert background and I love the city backdrop of Petco.Comment
