    Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

I just got done with the draft and I drafted a 20 year old 2nd basemen with a C overall, C contact and C powers with max durability. I simmed to the rest of the season just to see how high of an A potential he was and he was higher than Mauer and Sano. ( I play every game just wanted to see just how much of a freak he is. ) With all this said, do you think it would be realistic for him to be my opening day starting 2nd Basemen?

Depends, run him out there in spring training and see what he's got. If he lives up to it, then why not.

sitting at 33-42. Called up Edinson Rincon to play the OF and in his first game (0-3 at this point) hits a walk off grand-slam...not bad rook..not bad at all.

i hate to say it, but my Nats chise that i have been playing since opening day i am going to start over. i had played all 62 games or whatever but i made so many trades that it didn't seem fun anymore. I'm going to start over and not make HUGE change to the roster. maybe just one trade or two.

series one vs the cubs, here we go
                  The Washington Redskins
                  The Washington Nationals
                  The Washington Wizards

                      Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

After losing my patience with Joe Saunders and his struggles, I decided to deal him, with the Yankees taking him off my hands. That meant I had a hole at the back of my rotation. So I filled it with:

                      Spoiler

He'd been dominating AA, so I called him up to the bigs. A season high crowd of 41,000 came out to see him make his first major league start against the Giants. And he was electric. He was perfect through the first 7 innings, striking out 1. Despite a high pitch count, I trotted him back out in the eigth in pursuit of perfection. First up, Sandoval grounds out. Next up, Posey strikes out. 4 outs away from perfection, when Cabrera steps up. 1-0. 2-0. 3-0. 3-1. 3-2
3-2 count, Bauer throws a fastball up and away, Cabrera swings and gets a piece of it, and the whole stadium moves in slow motion as it loops up, over the infield, with Stephen Drew sprinting backwards…and coming up short.
Perfect game over. No-hitter over. And before I can catch my breath Brett Pill has taken Bauer's next pitch off the wall for an RBI double.

So that was Bauer's day done. I led 5-1 after Pill's RBI, thanks to Chris Young (3-3, 2B, 2RBI) and Stephen Drew who had launched a huge homerun into the right overhang in centrefield, so I brought in the bullpen to close it out.
But the day belonged to Bauer, who got the W, and I'm now pumped for his next start, against the Rockies who sit half a game behind me in the NL West.

                        Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Okay, a little late on the season 2 recap but here goes....

                        (Stealing Ben's bullet-point format here )

                        • I started the season off terribly with an 8-16 record in the first month of the season.

                        • Thankfully I was able to turn things around and get the ball rolling with an 18-8 month of May.

                        • The Yankees, coming off an off-season in which Jeter, A-Rod, and Rivera all retired, were able to maintain their dominance despite those losses. It probably helped that they had a stacked rotation that included C.C. Sabathia, Roy Halladay (!!!), Chris Carpenter, and Tim Hudson.

                        • Going into the All-Star break, I dug myself out of that early season hole and was in a race with the Yankees for the division crown.

                        • The Rays were looking to get rid of David Price with him being in the final year of his deal, so I offered them J.P. Arencibia, Ervin Santana, and Eric Thames and they accepted. It was a big risk on my part because Travis D'Arnaud hadn't even been brought up beforehand, so I was in the thick of a playoff race with a rookie catcher coming into the lineup in the middle of the season.

                        • I suffered a huge hit to my lineup in the first week of September when Carl Crawford went down with a fractured arm against the Rays, which essentially ended his season.

                        • Closing in on the end of the season, the Yankees had a 3 game lead on me for the AL East crown. On the AL Wildcard side of things, the White Sox were a game back of me for that spot. File this under obvious foreshadowing.

                        • The final series of the season for me came down to a division-deciding series against the Yankees. To win the AL East, I had to sweep the series on the road. I won the first game 4-2 on the arm of Drew Hutchison keeping the Yankees to just 5 hits. The second game was a matchup of each team's ace, with Romero and Sabathia on the mound. It was a scoreless game for the first 5 innings, but eventually the Yankees pulled away with a 3-0 shutout, ending my hopes of winning the AL East and also putting me on the brink of missing the playoffs as the White Sox took their first 2 games against the Twins. Facing a must-win situation, I of course had to try and overcome Roy Halladay. Luckily, things went the same way they did against Halladay as they did in last year's playoffs when he was pitching for the Rangers and I jumped all over him, taking the game 11-2.

                        • However, the White Sox had to make things interesting by sweeping the Twins to close out their season, leaving us with a 1 game playoff to decide who would take that AL wildcard spot. It was a super-tense game to start, but a 4 run 4th inning for me proved to be enough to clinch a second-straight playoff appearance and I won 4-2.

                        • So after sweating out an end-of-season playoff race, what was my reward for making the playoffs? A matchup against the deadliest team I think I've ever seen a franchise mode produce: the 118 win Detroit Tigers! Not only did they win 118 games, their rotation featured 4 20-game winners, the reigning AL Cy Young winner in Justin Verlander (20-4, 1.87 ERA), and the reigning AL MVP in Prince Fielder (.332/69 HRs/191 RBI). I was hoping to get a chance at revenge against the Tigers, but man....

                        • Miraculously, I somehow steal Game 1 5-4. Game 2 doesn't go so well, as the Tigers destroy Brandon Morrow and win 8-3. The swing game of the series, Game 3, goes my way as well and somehow I have the Tigers on the brink of elimination again. Of course, the entirety of Game 4 has me constantly thinking back to last year. Despite that, I manage to hold on to a 2-1 lead and eliminate the 118-win Tigers, getting my revenge and eliminating one of the best regular season teams ever, as I make my second consecutive ALCS.

                        • In the ALCS, I'm matched up with the Yankees and take Game 1 1-0 in New York. Game 2 doesn't go so well and the Yankees tie the series at 1. They then carry that momentum the rest of the series and sweep all 3 games in Toronto, 2 of which had the Jays failing to hold on to a lead and losing by 1 run.

                        • In the World Series, the Marlins beat out the Yankees in 7 games.

                        • Now going into the off-season, I have a ton of big decisions to make. I have the likes of David Price, Adam Lind, Sergio Santos, Colby Rasmus, Yunel Escobar, Antonio Bastardo and Jason Frasor all looking to be re-signed. Luckily last year my budget was increased 3%, and this year it was increased by 4%, so I have some more flexibility. I'm just not sure if I should try and re-sign everyone or let some guys go to make room for some of my young up-and-comers.

In the midst of an 8-2 shellacking I discover that Casper Wells has two pitches, an 80 mph fastball, and an 88 mph changeup to complement it... Yes, that is not a typo, his changeup was at times 10 mph faster than his fastball. He was even able to pitch a scoreless inning!

                            Now 92-2.

                            My Top 3 Batters:

                            Kemp: .498 59 HRs 102 RBI
                            Hamilton: .477 47 HRs 88 RBI
                            Braun: .450 34 HRs 99 RBI

Having a pretty good season. although Kemp has been in a slump. I'm thinking about getting Stanton and Pujols for some more sluggers.

Got a set with the O's coming up. They have giving me trouble this year, giving me half of my losses. And last game was rather close 17-7.

Can you stop bragging about playing on rookie with ignore budgets? Just cause you like playing like that doesn't mean we all want to read about it.

Does anyone really care where I sent this from?
