In my last game I had an early 10-0 lead in the 4th inning. The rest of the game I just wanted to throw the ball over the plate so the batters would put the ball in play and let the fielders clean up the mess. If I give up a hit no big deal (that's going to happen more often since I'm not setting up the hitters and nibbling corners.)

I don't want to see a big confidence hit in this situation. And that's what ended up happening, I had to keep putting relievers in to finish the game off. In garbage time it's either that, or you nibble until you're blue in the face.

Example: My pitcher has 70% confidence and I give up 2 singles with "Pitch to Contact" enabled. Now I'll probably want to go back and start nibbling, the difference is that my confidence is still there - rather than being completely destroyed and having to go to my pen.

In summary for both Pitch Around & Pitch to Contact:

Advantage: Result = No loss in confidence
    Disadvantage: Confidence cannot increase
I've been thinking about turning off confidence all together because it fluctuates so quickly.

I have different pitch speeds for the Vita and PS3. Lower the speed on the Vita has really improved my game.

I remember reading somewhere that pitch speeds varied depending on difficulty. For example, All-Star is about 2-3 mph faster to the plate than Veteran. Can this be confirmed?

I don't think you can turn confidence off... The option to turn it off only turns off the display over each pitch's confidence meter. I too would like this option.

Yea I don't think you can turn confidence off. Losing command & confidence in a pitch is realistic and think it has it's place. But I think it's too overdone, you can just implode too quickly and get stepped on before you can even get someone warmed up.

I've also hung some really bad curveballs with high confidence that are popped up or not even touched.

Confidence just seems too powerful, I heard it was revamped this year and would be interested to know what changes they made.

Pitcher/pitch confidence only affects the pitcher's ability to locate pitches:

That's good to know. I thought it removed confidence all together. I'm definitely turning off the display.

I agree there is a place for it - hopefully it get refined. I like your suggestions.

Thanks Nomo, that's a long thread so I'll have to sit down and give it a read some day. Basically though it sounds like if you have high confidence & hitting corners the CPU will start aiming at the corners. This would explain why they aren't hitting curveballs in the middle of the plate.

Like Sbmnky said though, I think this is an area that needs some refinement because the whole confidence thing is frustrating me. Either I'm sailing and mowing people down too easy, or falling apart too fast.

Same here. I can't state enough how impressed I am with the whole Show experience this year. Coming off a year I really didn't care for to now is just huge.

I do wish I had more time to play the PS3 version more but because I have it on-the-go to it doesn't matter that much.

The one thing I think I miss the most (becasue of the size of the screen) is being able to read the stat lines of my current batter on the the Jumbotron. Posted stats for anything around each stadium for that matter. But I'll get over it.

I got some massive horrendous slowdown in the Road to the Show All Star Game, which messed with the timing of the pitching. That's my biggest grief with this; the slowdown is atrocious.

Yeah, I think I'm like 70% Vita right now in terms of games played compared to the PS3 version. The faster play really makes it easier for me to get in games at night before I go to bed. I love the PS3 version, but I don't always have the time, or energy, to play a 60-90 minute game.

I'm on All-Star difficulty (Classic pitching and Timing hitting) with Pitch Speed at 3 and a few other sliders slightly modified. The game plays GREAT.

For a first-year effort, I'm really impressed by what The Show developers were able to do with the Vita version.

I'm about .500. My hitting is hit and miss; I've had games where I've rocked Halladay and Strausburg, and games where I've struggled to score more than 1 run.

I struggle on the PS3 but am REALLY struggling on the Vita. My first game I didn't have a single strikeout. Earned a "contact king" trophy and everything. Been swinging at everything ever since

I love being able to play the show on the go, I don't mind the lack of presentation, but the one thing I can't get over is the lack of depth in the player editor. I was really hoping I would be able to edit rosters on the go this year, but this is simply not possible with the omission of 90% of the editing options.
I know the vita is not literally "A PS3 in your pocket", but if most of the faces made by SCEA look exactly like the PS3 version, why can't the generated faces? The generated are not just a little off, they are waaay off, make a player with a slightly wider jawline on the PS3, and he looks like a chipmunk/had an allergic reaction when you import to the vita.

Anyway, rant over, outside of the player editor I think the game is great

I just now realized the Vita version doesn't have any players or coaches in the dugouts or bullpens.

That actually makes me wonder how full presentation would even work considering all the real time cuts the PS3 version does to the dugouts and head coaches.
