Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Just wanted to thank you guys.

I completed my third and presumably last trade of the 2012 season last night, following your guy's suggestions to a 'T.'

I'm at the AS break, and just sent Russell Branyan (rotting in AAA, but performing pretty well) to PHI for a C OF prospect (as you all said he would be worth as a AAA'er).

They were the only team interested in him and honestly, looking at their numbers, could use the potential pop off the bench.

That, and when they inevitably get closer to clinching, they can now rest Howard from time to time and still plug in a serviceable major leaguer that can still provide some run production.

Though ultimately, Branyan could equal Matt Stairs here for PHI (which is how I justified the deal, basically).

Other teams certainly could have used him more, but NONE of them were willing to take on his 500+ K contract. Yeah...um, okay...

Anyway, I landed Jorge De La Rosa for three prospects, Jesus Flores for some mid-level talent, and a C OF prospect for Branyan straight up. On to the second half with a 1.5 game lead over TOR.

Yes, my Yanks lead TOR by 1.5 games. Crazy...

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

        Crawford is hitting .254 with 10HR and 34 RBI's.
Lackey just made his first MLB start of the year and is 1-0 with 9 K's sporting a era of 6.94, but he was I want to say 1-4 in AAA before calling him up.
Aviles is hitting .217 with 2 HR and 13 RBI's at the MLB level
Punto is hitting .283 with 0 HR and 10 RBI's

Beckett I've pulled off the market because over his last 3 starts hes given up 2 runs with 14 k's and 2 BB. (he must have given up the chicken and beer)

Youk might just be slumping because he started the season hot but over his last 10 starts only managed 5 hits, for the season he batting .278 with 11 HR and 43 RBI's.

Who would be a good serviceable LF to hold down the fort until Dominic Brown can take over? I'm the orioles.

          My 3 trades so far:

Schoop and a B prospect for Bumgarner and Jones(14th round pick this year, but I want him because he is from msu.)

Tillman and Matusz for Arencibia and Kyle Drabek(Arencibia will start at 3rd, so Reynolds won't!, and he will be backup Cather.)

Arrieta and Britton for Dominic Brown and Pettibone

I was looking at guys like David Murphy. I like I'm for the position, but who else could I choose frm, and what would thy be worth?

Edit: I haven't started yet. I waiting for Scott's rosters.

do Crawford and Lackey have their real-life enormous contracts? Punto isnt worth a bag of balls....Aviles needs to shape up before he accrues any trade value....Youk can bring u back a B+high C

              LOL!

My responses on Branyan were essentially (if I remember correctly):

If he's hitting well at MLB:1-2 C's, tops.

If he's hitting well at AAA only: 1 C, tops. Maybe even a D.

I went with my gut on this. Do you think PHI got ripped off?

De La Rosa has been wonderful. He's been walking a little more hitters than I'd like, but with his 5 pitch arsenal, he's a strikeout machine! And hits are generally low and scattered. He gave me 8 innings a couple outings ago and has given me a quality start every time out. Definite ace material. At this point, I'm impressed enough to offer him a contract during the offseason!

I needed an arm like his badly!

CC, Kuroda, and De La Rosa have finally given me a legit feeling 1,2,3 punch. Dare I say, I think my rotation is now playoff ready.

Crawford is sitting at 2.3m a year for 6 years and Lackey is at 4.1m a year for 3 years, so no. Lol @ Punto, I agree, I was hoping to throw him in on a trade instead of waiving him as I doubt anyone would pick him up.

if it was me that said Branyan was worth a C regardless of how he was doing, idk what i was thinkin lol...its certainly not worth losing sleep over but a D rather then C sounds fair for him...glad to see De La Rosa has greatly improved your club...(does this mean i get a pass on Branyan? lol)....also keep me updated if u do give him an extension in the offseason, how much he's asking for....very intrigued on what his asking price would be...especially after a great year

Probably two C's for Ross if he's doing well. Not sure about Prado, though.

Does anyone really care where I sent this from?

If you're walking towards a bridge to jump off for giving me bad advice, stop!!! LOL! You're safe. I looked up your response. You said D all the way on Branyan! LOL! See above ^^^

But now I can't find the "C" responses. I could have swore a few people said that.

Anyway, I absolutely plan on being active during this thread when I reach the offseason. Your guy's advice is great, and makes my Franchise that much more enjoyable.

Realistically, I'll face some tough decisions in 2013. Kuroda and De La Rosa are in their final year currently. And considering how great they've been, it would be a shame to lose either of them to Free Agency.

Then of course I'll have CC. Pineda, Nova and Hughes too!

                        That equals six!

Add in Banuelos to the mix and my head wants to explode!!!

I'd let either De La Rosa OR Kuroda walk away if I knew Pineda and/or Nova or Hughes could get the job done. But they've all been mediocre at best. Pineda has been flat out terrible!!!...Which is a shame considering how highly he's rated.

Well...ST will be ripe with competition, at least!

                                Just bumping this!
