One thing to keep in mind about the low scoring is that baseball is evolving right now, just look at the offensive numbers in the last few years. Way down..its a pitchers game right now in baseball.

That's because we're Braves fans (based on your icon i hope you are) and we can't score a run to save our life.Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
I've had a blast with this game since '08, but this year I can't figure it out. I've tried Armor and Swords sliders (both straight All Star and the hybrid with Vet hitting), the perfect HOF sliders and everything in between. The bottom line is that there is just no offense for me or the CPU. I'm drawing walks, but hitting rockets right at people. My franchise batting avg. through 7 games is about .185, but my ERA is about 2.70, so I'm 3-4. I'm really at a loss.
Ive gotten a great variety of games.
cant complain at all.Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
I agree there is something subtly different. It seems like the ball dies on the bat kind of. almost like it feels like a softball. But I have not got to play alot waiting on patch etc. Also have not experimented w/ sliders so I'll wait to make a final judgement.Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
This is the least fun I've ever had with a Show game. I find it amazingly inconsistent and am considering going back to MVP or maybe last years Show so I can actually have fun playing baseball again.
I shouldn't have to develop my own sliders set to play the game. It is flat out flawed if that is the case.
But on topic, I'm scoring alot fewer runs than previous versions, but I'm loving it. It's more realistic and more fun to me battling for runs. I use the Braves anyways and like a previous poster said we can't score runs to save our lives lol.Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
I'm just convinced that the game chooses what you get hits on. It's almost feels scripted (though i know it's not at all). I have recently been playing Pro Yakyuu Spirits 10 and I'm hitting the ball great on higher level settings. So my skill is not the issue.
The CPU in MLB 12 could throw me a ball down the middle and I won't move my stick (PCI) at all and power swing it (or contact, irrelevant) and the ball will be a low grounder to short. I'll be scratching my head and check my timing and contact.
Timing: Perfect
Contact: Wheelhouse
Then a few batters later I'll hit the ball on the top left hand side of the ball with GOOD contact and it'll be a jack to opposite field. 420 foot homerun.
Makes no sense really.
Perfect timing and Wheelhouse contact don't mean what you think it means. Read the in-game tutorials and you will find out that Perfect timing means you are going to hit the ball up the middle, and Wheelhouse only means you hit the ball in a "red" zone of the hitters strike zone. Also the PCI is the "Plate Coverage Indicator" it's not your batting cursor. It just lets you know that the yellow circle is the general zone that the bat is travelling through, the middle isn't the sweet spot. For best results on your swings you want to be a tad early because that is where the hitters power alley is.Comment

I'll be honest too hehe, it does feel weird this year but hitting gets easier once you start to tweak your pitch speed sliders and your contactWhy did I move here? I guess it was the weather.Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
I'm having a good time playing the game this year. If anything, last year was the year I got a little bit tired of the game (maybe it just wasn't my year) but I'm back having a great time this year.
The only thing I really can't seem to find, are any bloop hits, which are a big part of actual MLB baseball. Does anyone have any advice on how to produce bloopers? (Weak pop ups that drop in between OF and IF)Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
Nope, game plays great. Lot's of hit variety, high-scoring, low-scoring, everything in-between. What exactly does playing a different publishers baseball game have to do with playing The Show? So you stink at the levels and sliders you're playing at, find what works. I gave in and played last year on veteran with everything analog and never looked back.Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
I agree something is off or has changed this year but I'm not seeing it when I'm hitting....the CPU offense is what has me scratching my head. Playing with basically the same slider sets and same level as every other year but I'm seeing the CPU really not being able to generate any runs. Through 5 games using the marlins I'm 5-0 with a 1.20 era. Just a few minutes ago I wrapped up a game vs. the Phils and zambrano of all pitchers throws 7 and 2/3 scoreless innings.
I'm not sure what it is but I hope it gets better as my season progresses.Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
Ive tried all the popular sliders and defaults and i keep getting the same thing. Great varied games of baseball.
This thread exemplifies one thing. Baseball is a complicated varied sport that the Show recreates wonderfully.Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
I'm changing some aspect of sliders, camera angle, or hittiong/pitching options every five games (once through franchise starting rotation) and I'm getting a variety of game play and different looks. There are a lot of great ways to play this game.Steelers, Penguins, Penn State, Pirates, Red Sox, Manchester United.Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
Definitely having no issue scoring runs (or being scored on) in my franchise....my only complaint is there seems to be a "catch-up" or "keep games close" thing going on.
Nobody can seem to take or hold a lead in my franchise. I'll go up 3-0 early and rattle a pitcher while my guy is shutting down the opposition. But as soon as the lead hits 4 runs, I'm facing a lineup full of Pujols' and Cabrera's. They just tee off until it's close again and then everything normalizes.
Likewise in the opposite scenario...guys in my lineup with little power start blasting long home runs. Kinda silly.Comment
