Let me clarify that I wanted to use images, but some umpires are inconsistent so there would be too much gray area. Just saying.

Just to clarify, guys, I didn't mean that someone was doing a poor job of explaining the tendencies, I meant that the tendencies themselves weren't very logical or simple.

Haha don't worry, it's all good.

What I also wanted to clarify is that my notes aren't set in stone. They are probably each off one game with the guys haha, so I don't yet know if, say, some umpires are consistently tight on the inside or not, for instance. I probably only saw one pitch like that, then jotted that down. It's like seeing one at bat from a rookie who hits a home run, then I'll make a note that says: "Has power."

Agreed. With more guys giving their feedback on umpires it makes the game more interesting. Sure it's not an exact science and may have some inconsistencies but maybe, just maybe, there are some real umpire patterns to be found. It's not my thread but I'd rather keep the thread on blzer's intended subject of what we discover with umps... (not the direction it's headed of what SCEA should do with umpires logic and strikezone diagrams) Just my opinion.

              Agreed. Thanks Blzer.

But this thread is pretty much useless unless you plan on updating the first post whenever we confirm for you, or your/our opinion changes on a specific guy.

              No pressure or anything.

Let me tell ya the Clyde Washington, Woody Keller, Wally Huges crew.....I dread them. you get a wide variety with that crew.

Last night Hughes behind the plate, he would not give me the low corners most of the night.

                  Re: Umpire Personalities Thread

Game 4 of my four game series vs the Diamondbacks, I have Ricky Nolasco on the hill.

I had Marvin Knight behind the plate.

I must say in my history of playing The Show I have never seen a more infuriating plate umpire than Marvin. This guy was so inconsistent I thought I was going to throw my controller across the room! Both for Ricky and my team at the plate, I had some insane calls. Strikes being called balls and balls being called strikes. It was so all over the place I could not even develop a plan with this clown.

Needless to say I lost a heartbreaker 2-1. This with drawing 5 walks and only 2 K's for the Marlins while I walked 3 and K'd 7!

I gave up a 2 run blast in th 5th inning and that was all they needed.

Warning......Marvin Knight is on my list as a bad Umpire.....I mean really bad.

He does not give the corners with any consistency, he will call balls on obvious strikes in the outer and inner half of the zone, then turn around and call strikes on very low and below the zone pitches.

                  He wil drive you crazy.

                  Booooooooo!

And yes I love Variable Strike Zone. I love the torture and realism of it.

i actually turned off the umpire personalities and now avg 3-5 walks a game, i am tired of working a full count and having strike 3 with the entire ball out of the strike zone, IRL umpires arent this bad all the time

I actually think real life umpires are worse, but not as random. I watch MLB Gameday a lot (because I like to see where the pitch was, how things are scored, etc... plus I can go into the kitchen without fully missing the game) and you'll see umpires blow a lot of calls, but most umpires do a pretty good job of applying their disfigured strike zones consistently to both teams, which most MLB players agree is really all that matters.

Heh, you'll have to keep good tabs on me because I won't be on OS or playing The Show much in the next two weeks. I have a very busy schedule ahead of me.

Has anyone else had random umpire names appear? I have Darryl Parker, Matthew Ross, and Dave Lawrence with Ricky Holliday.... Is there a fix or reason these names changed?

Does anyone know of a fix for the random umpire name changes (IE Dave Lawrence Matthew Ross) (Happened after a saved game, but had saved several games before)... I tried deleting the game data and reinstalling, but the problem stayed (although I didn't delete the file with changes, it is occuring on all franchise modes now)... I am thinking either this is permanent or I may have to delete all mlb 12 the show files etc and start from scratch like I just bought the game today? Any help would be most appreciated

Why does it matter, its only the name of an umpire. Lol. Why delete everything and start over?
