    RE: Smyly and Turner

We have a high interest in both Jacob Turner and Drew Smyly, and would like to try and get one of them, but we understand if now isn't the time. We are just contacting you to see if under any circumstances you would be willing to give up one of these two. We don't want to start negotiations if these two pitchers aren't available. Currently your team sits at 17-22, 2 games back in the division behind the Royals, and 7 games behind the yankess in the wild card. Here are Turner and Smyly's starts:

    Smyly: 2-3 3.43 ERA 31 K's 13 BB's 44.1 IP (MLB)

    Turner: 2-4 4.18 ERA 41 K's 17 BB's 56 IP. (AAA)

Again, we are just contacting you to ask if you would be willing to negotiate a deal for one of these 2, and completely understand if now is not the time.

Re: OS Arbitration Panel Project 2012

Sorry that I've been MIA for a couple of days... but real life decided to rear it's ugly head.

I will be making an update of the representative list tomorrow evening after work if there is a need for it At last, we needed at least one representative for FIVE MLB franchises. I unfortunately do not have the time to pull up the squads, but I know Tampa, San Diego, the Mets, and two other squads needed representation.

Just from reading a few posts, it appears everything is currently business as usual -- I don't have the time right at the moment other than to post and let you know I haven't died, just getting worked like a slave -- but I promise that if there ARE any issues that require my attention, I will address them around midnight tomorrow evening, EST.

I have the fullest confidence in those that have been here from pretty much the start, OS'ers like NYYankees42, DerelictOjama, and others (don't take it as a slight if I didn't PERSONALLY mention you) but generally they have always answered any user questions in generally the same fashion I would, so while I doubt it -- if there is anything that truly needs to be addressed, those gents would probably think the same way I would.

Don't think it's needed though, the base idea is pretty much set and the small part of the thread I was able to read looked like it was just business as usual. Even though this wasn't technically "my" idea, I am glad that the initial "work" I put in to help get this project "green-lighted" and started smoothly has appeared to have paid off and this does appear to be a genuine asset to the community.

Lastly, I did see at least one message to a Tigers representative. I know I am not alone in representing the Tigers, but at the latest if my fellow Detroit representative hasn't taken care of inquiries, I promise I will also get to this around midnight EST tomorrow night.

(In addition to the last few franchises becoming actively "owned" -- we could probably use an extra Tigers representative -- while I am here a great deal when off work, when they decide to bust my ***, they really bust it -- and I do not want any OS'er to suffer because I'm not always available. So, if someone would like to help out as an extra Detroit representative *I* would be extremely grateful to you.)

Thanks to everyone for making this project fun, and for continuing to utilize it in a positive way and truly make it that asset to this community that I spoke of. Everyone in this thread is to be commended for the level of thought, and more, baseball IQ and help for others that is presented here. Take a bow, OS'ers.

EDIT: I also know I have a few private messages in my box. I'm not even looking at the moment because I know no matter the inquiry I just cannot get further involved this evening. I just wanted to let people know I am still dedicated to the project, just had to work, and for clarification, my girlfriend had a friend pass away, so I have had to be there a little extra to support her. I'm sure everyone understands these things, but I feel as if I am the "project leader" here, so I felt it imperative that I at least login and let people know I'll be back tomorrow, and that I apologize if anything has needed my immediate attention and hasn't gotten it yet. It will tomorrow, and you have my word.

Thanks again to all, and once again my apologies. See you all tomorrow evening after work.

Since it was so close to my post, I felt I should quickly respond. Turner would be an extremely pricy prospect to attain, but yes, both prospects could be available at the right cost. I've said it before, however, that especially in Detroit, Turner is nearly revered as the jewel of our farm system, and I would say the cost would be prohibitive for any team with any thoughts of "win this year."

With that said, please feel free to offer a few proposals and you have my word that I will address them tomorrow night in the area of midnight EST. Sorry for the delay, but I have to go so fast I'm not even looking at private messages. Good night.

That's completely ok. Real life always takes priority and I understand completely. Anyway, back to my GM talk, we also have an interest in your 3rd baseman Nick Castellanos .295 2 HR 13 RBI (AAA). Players we would consider giving up for him would consist of Tabata, Marte, Alvarez, some B pitchers, or maybe Walker. Again, these are just players we are considering giving up and if you have any interest in acquiring some of these guys just let us know and we can send of the stats immediately. The players aforementioned would also be who we may be willing to give up for Smyly or Turner.

Re: OS Arbitration Panel Project 2012

I think we're at (or close to) a point where there are enough people who know what's going on that not too much pressure should be felt by any one person (pokerplaya, for instance!) to always be around. At this point we seem to have settled into a pattern, might still need some tweaking, but the trades are being proposed, and people are getting responses. There are still some holes--the last few teams to get reps for, and also, as pokerplaya points out, in the end it will probably be good to have at least a couple reps per team, so no one has to do too much, or leave a hole when, as it will, real life takes over for a while. I was away for about 24 hours, and it was great that authentic was there to take on at least 1 cubs request that I just couldn't get to.

I've seen a couple trade requests get missed and bumped; I think that's appropriate to a certain extent, because this thread is getting longish and things can be missed--going to "first unread post" can get tricky in a very long thread; but also consider that there's no guarantee the time it will take the responding GM(s) to get back to you. I know I try to do things in a timely fashion, but we only have so much time. I guess that's one of the kinks we need to work out. But I'd say so far, so good.

              Re: Coco Crisp

As we approach the end of June it has become apparent thatwe are not going to be contending this year and we are looking to trade some ofour veterans to contending clubs such as you to help during the stretch run.

Currently your team is 39-30, 2.5 gms out of 1st and6 gms back of NY with no teams in between you and 1st place ineither the WC or division.

Your team has been steady on offense but could really use asolid #2 hitter behind Ichiro as Dustin Ackley is hitting .234 and the otherplayers who have been put in that spot have not faired much better.

We feel that Coco could be a welcomed addition to your cluband help upgrade your defense in a that very spacious park you’ve got and alsobe a bit of a spark on offense out of the #2 spot.

Here are Coco’s stats thru the middle of June-
              .266 AVG, .327 OBP, 10 HR, 25 RBI, 22 SB

Here are your stats for the OF who have been playing LF foryou-

              Chone Figgins: .234 AVG, .300 OBP, 2 HR, 22 RBI, 11 SB

Limited action due to injury for these 3 players

              Mike Carp: 31 AB, .419 AVG, .437 OBP, 0 HR, 7 RBI, 0 SB
              Casper Wells: 77 AB, .260 AVG, .337 OBP, 4 HR, 12 RBI, 0 SB
              Michael Saunders: 55 AB, .200 AVG, .290 OBP, 3 HR, 5 RBI, 6SB

We are looking for a catcher or 3B.

Please let us know if you would be interested in Coco and ifany of these players are available.

              C Tyler Marlette (Single A)
C Marcus Littlewood (AA) .240 AVG, 8 HR, 38 RBI
              C Jack Marder (Single A)
              3B Francisco Martinez (Single A)
3B Alex Liddi (AAA stats) .248 AVG, 2 HR, 24 RBI
              3B Steven Proscia (Single A)

A couple hours later than anticipated, but I am on the thread and will be updating the representative list and catching up for any issues that were not handled by other "veteran" GMs...

Again, I apologize for the tough week -- but it certainly appeared that things were quite on-point. Guess we'll see.

NOTE: Some Representatives will be added from my PM box, and as there is no "power" difference between "General Manager" and "Assistant GM's" - please don't take the order of the representatives in any order... it's just going to be the order I saw things, and I'm only trying to keep the list clean.

Thanks again to everyone for their patience, and to those veterans that I already know stepped up when I had to take care of life. Great to know this is a team effort!

                  RE: James Shields

We would like to offer you James Shields, as today is the trade deadline, and you need one more starter. Shields stats are on page 32 of this thread. You are currently sitting at 55-49, 5 games back in division. That is your only hope, as you are in second in wild card, but are still 14 games behind us. Rick Porcello has been very disappointing, as he is 5-11 with a 5.43 era 68 Ks and 40 BBs. Jacob Turners stats look like this: 7-8 3.52 era 91 Ks and 40 BBs at AAA. Nick Castellanos stats are as followed: .305 6hr 111h and 43 RBI as the no.3 hitter for your AA affiliate.

We would like to offer you this:
James Shields. he is currently winning CYY race
Carlos Pena (stats on page 32 also) he is currently winning MVP race

                  In return, we will receive:
                  Jacob Turner
                  Nick Castellanos
                  Rick Porcello
Aaron Westlake (class A, no stats, not valued much)
Bruce Rendon (AA, 3.04 era in 66 games. 6-1 opponents are hitting .250 against him, with righties hitting .302!)

Please get back to us later today!

                  Kirk Plum, Rays GM
I haven't been far enough ahead to see if jhendricks was able to get to this or not, and unfortunately I had to do the real life thing... If I recall correctly, Shields is about to hit UFA, correct? I mean, Ilitch has the money regardless, so especially with Porcello down, I think I'd have to consider.

At the same time, I have to wonder why you would do this? The only for-sure MLB ready player is Porcello, and it looks like he is for sure having a down season. You have a 14 game lead with 58 to play, and you are moving both the frontrunner for MVP *and* Cy Young?

I do think the Tigers would do this trade, but for the sake of realism -- with the statistics you mention, I don't think this trade would materialize under the circumstances. You *wouldn't* be ripping off the CPU in this instance, so if you are trying to build a certain way or too worried about salary, you can feel solid about making the deal.

Sorry for the delay in the response to your offer, and I hope you appreciate the levity there with the "negotiation" idea here...

There was a TON of pages I had to go through trying to make sure I had all new representatives for franchises.

If you have requested to represent a franchise -- OR -- would like to, please get involved. Multiple reps again, are welcomed for each teams, but we are really looking to fill our only three un-represented squads, listed here:

COLORADO ROCKIES, SAN DIEGO PADRES, SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS

Again, I apologize if I missed a post eager to represent a franchise... and while we will take reps for ANY team as we would love everyone to be involved, we would truly be grateful as a team project for any OS'ers willing to get involved with the last three unrepresented franchises.

                        And...

Dear GM of the Texas Rangers!

The Boston Red Sox would like to make an offer for Derek Holland of the Texas Rangers. Your team is leading the AL West at the moment, but Derek Holland is struggling with a 4.48 ERA.

We would like to give you a B prospect lefthander reliever, Antonio Bastardo (who we signed from the Phillies before the start of the season), and a B prospect shortstop Jose Iglesias.

In case you don't like the idea of having another good shortstop behind Elvis Andrus, we have other prospects to throw into the deal.

i'm looking forward to hearingfrom you soon!

We have looked at your email regarding pitching prospects like Smyly and Turner, and wanted to let you know that a deal working around Neil Walker would be looked at very favorably here in Detroit.

It could work, please send us an offer and we can go from there.

                            RE: Trade Talk

Currently Walker is hitting .224 with 2 HR and 12 RBI near the end of May, but has still been productive in the 2 hole and recently went 4-5, and has slowly started to look like himself again this past week. We would be interested in Castellanos (stats given earlier) and either Turner or Smyly. If you would be willing to give up both Castellanos and one of the 2 SP we could throw in a B prospect pitcher or 2. If you wouldn't, we have interest in Casey Crosby 3-6 5.02 ERA 39 K's 53.2 IP (AAA). We also have a high interest in Brennan Boesch .300 2 HR 10 RBI. Again, if Neil isn't enough we would be willing to throw in one of 2 of our prospects pitchers, with your choice of:

                            Nick Kingham - 20 yrs old B Pot (Class-A)
                            Kyle McPherson- 24 yrs old B Pot (AAA) 4-1 2.59 ERA 40 K's 23 BB's 60 IP
                            Aaron Pribanic - 25 yrs old C Pot (Class-A)

Please feel free to either decline or counter based on your team's current needs.

I would have an interest in Yelich and maybe Morrison in my Pirates franchise, but I would have to think if I wanted to make a trade.
