Hey guys. Hope all is well. We are putting this out as we approach the "dog days of summer". I'm sire quite a few of us are seeing where we stand in the playoff picture. Therefore I wanted to throw these guys out as available as we feel we won't be asking them to return or able to afford.

Our asking price? We all know that Haren is a proven ace. So he would be the most expensive. We would like to get a catcher that is possibly a year removed before hitting the bugs (21-26). A OF who is around 2-3 away from the bugs (18-20). Then a 3rd that's a year or 2 away (21-25). This is what we would like to see as part of any deal

Yeah Harper and Strasburg are definatly mainstays, there is no way we would ever trade them. I also see Trout just as high, the Angels would never trade him away. I think even a trade of austin jackson, with Verlander and anyone thrown it wouldnt pry anyone away.

Obviously my post was a joke, but...

Strasburg is probably the only player that I don't think you're crazy if Verlander was moving and Washington said no... hands down best in the game, still only 29... but Strasburg is that immense talent and he's already the same draw. The only reason I'd never do that trade from a Detroit perspective other than being a homer is because of Strasburg's Tommy John, and the fact that he's still basically throwing from the dreaded inverted-W... he'll need a 2nd TJ within 7 years, mark my words. But...

In essence, Strasburg, Harper, Trout and guys of this type of talent/age level should NEVER move. If Washington woke up tomorrow with the words "Strasburg (or Harper) TRADED" on the front page of the Post, there would be mutiny in the streets, and I'm only mildly exaggerating. Same with Anaheim and Trout... they'd care less if Albert was shown the door, even with him starting to hit...

And no, it doesn't matter who they get, in ANY of those hypothetical situations... not when you are talking about HOF-style talents barring injuries. If Harper continues to improve from THIS as a 19 year old and doesn't get hurt, Pete Rose might not be #1 on the hits list...you don't trade "generation-defining" athletes.

I almost totally agree. I DO think if the words strasburg/harper traded were onthe front page they would burn the town down, first stop would be the capitol since they can see it form the stadium. Those talents never get traded, at least not int he first 10 years or so of their time. Puljols went almost 10 years without going anywhere, and that wasnt a trade. Griffey didnt either. Teams just dont trade those players. Bundy with the Orioles should never get traded. I think this thread did seem to lose a bit, it seemed more like fantasy baseball than a team building like it was intended to be. I know if anyone called to try to aquire Strasburg or Harper I would just hang up on them. Zimmerman or Gio, i might listen, only because i needed a laugh for the day.
