We would be inclined to accept that package of players for young Nick Castellanos. We are definitely more in the market for another position, as yes, our corner infield is well-set for at least the next several seasons.

Hopefully, Nick will do well filling in for Polanco for you, Polly was well loved here in Detroit. Brown will have the ability to compete for a spot in our corner outfield here with Young, Boesch, and Dirks.

Pleasure doing business with you as always.

Fantastic! We can't wait to have Nick join the clubhouse! We think he will be a great fit for us long term, and we hope the players we gave you can help your team make a good playoff push!

The addition of Myers would alleviate our concerns... what would be the complete package again, just to refresh my memory?

Pretty much be an official deal at that point, just don't remember the exact page of the initial offer to see my third prospect in the deal.

Thanks as always for the pain-free negotiations.

Ok, so we will include Brett Myers in the package. The final deal looks like this:

          Tigers receive
SP Wandy Rodriguez (33 y/o) ($7M per year for 2 more years) (7-4 2.81 ERA)
CP Brett Myers (3rd in saves in NL)(4.13 ERA)

          Astros receive
          SP Casey Crosby (B potential 23 y/o) (In AAA: 7-3/2.89 ERA/99.2 IP/69 Ks/1.24 WHIP/18 BB/.270 avg against)
          RP Al Albaquerque (B potential 25 y/o) (In the majors: 3-0/5.34 ERA/28.2 IP/31 Ks/15 BB/1.64 WHIP/.274 avg against)
          3B Audy Ciriaco (C potential 25 y/o) (In AAA: .231 avg/5 HR/22 rbi/11 SB)

It has been a pleasure doing business with you, good luck the rest of the way.

          Sincerely

Hey guys. Hope all is well. We are putting this out as we approach the "dog days of summer". I'm sire quite a few of us are seeing where we stand in the playoff picture. Therefore I wanted to throw these guys out as available as we feel we won't be asking them to return or able to afford.

            1) Dan Haren
            2) Tori Hunter
            3) Chris Iannetta
            4) Alberto Callaspo

Our asking price? We all know that Haren is a proven ace. So he would be the most expensive. We would like to get a catcher that is possibly a year removed before hitting the bugs (21-26). A OF who is around 2-3 away from the bugs (18-20). Then a 3rd that's a year or 2 away (21-25). This is what we would like to see as part of any deal

            Please inquire within.

( I realize some of you are waiting for Scott's rosters, so I don't plan on getting to many nibbles)

Just as a quick question where are the Royals in your world, are they close to being in the hunt? What month are you in. After we get this info we may start negotiations.

Haven't forgotten about ya. R/L has gotten pretty busy, plus I got the game in a mid game save. I PM'd you. Sorry again for the delay.

                    RE: Negotiations involving Edwin Encarnacion

Good morning Alex!...hope all is well with yourself and your organization...i was hoping to inquire about the availability of one of your players, specifically Edwin Encarnacion(C OVR, C POT 1 yr/583k contract)....Currently sitting at the All-Star Break, your record stands at 33-52 which is tied for 2nd-worst in the majors...meanwhile our major-league squad is opening some eyes, compiling a 49-37 record, good for 2nd in our divison (leading the WC chase by 2.5 GB) and 2 GB behind the Cards....as it's obvious your organization is going to give opportunites to younger players the 2nd half of the season, we feel we can assist u in that effort by acquiring Encarnacion in return for young players who can hopefully step on the field for your organization in the very near future...in 84 games, Encarnacion is currently batting .262 with 16 HR's/42 rbi's/80 hits/.331 OBP/,459 SLG/30 BB's/57 SO's/1 SB without committing an error on defense....Our initial proposal is the following:
                    -Aneury Rodriguez (C OVR, C POT), 24-y/o RHP (reliever)....Triple-A Stats: 49 Games...4-2 W/L.....2.67 ERA/60.2 IP/57 H's/6 HR's/14 BB/54 SO/1.17 WHIP/.254 AVG against
                    -Brandon Wikoff(D OVR/C POT), 24-y/o 2B (secondary positions of 1B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF)....Double-A Stats: 61 Games...244 AB'S/.279 AVG/2 HR/23 RBI's/68 H's/.331 OBP/.361 SLG/17 BB/41 SO/2 SB'S/6 Errors committed
                    -Kody Hinze(D OVR/C POT), 25y/o 1B......Double-A Stats: 37 Games.....117 AB'S/.299 AVG/ 1 HR/13 RBI/35 H's/.369 OBP/.376 SLG/10 BB/22 SO/2 Errors Committed

I consider this offer to be a very fair offer as i see your organization is lacking quality depth on the right side of your infield...Please let us know what u think and feel free to counter-offer if u wish...We look forward to making this transaction a win-win for both sides involved.

                    Sincerely,
                    Jeff Luhnow, Houston Astros GM

Thanks for taking the time to dig up the final offer for me... I can't lie that things are more hectic with the CPU situation here at Tigers HQ. Thanks again for your patience with us!

That deal looks excellent, and while I'm sure you knew we were fine with it already -- you may absolutely consider that an approved and completed transaction!

Our apologies for any delays again in this process, and best of luck to your organization in this season and in the future!

Obviously my post was a joke, but...

Strasburg is probably the only player that I don't think you're crazy if Verlander was moving and Washington said no... hands down best in the game, still only 29... but Strasburg is that immense talent and he's already the same draw. The only reason I'd never do that trade from a Detroit perspective other than being a homer is because of Strasburg's Tommy John, and the fact that he's still basically throwing from the dreaded inverted-W... he'll need a 2nd TJ within 7 years, mark my words. But...

In essence, Strasburg, Harper, Trout and guys of this type of talent/age level should NEVER move. If Washington woke up tomorrow with the words "Strasburg (or Harper) TRADED" on the front page of the Post, there would be mutiny in the streets, and I'm only mildly exaggerating. Same with Anaheim and Trout... they'd care less if Albert was shown the door, even with him starting to hit...

And no, it doesn't matter who they get, in ANY of those hypothetical situations... not when you are talking about HOF-style talents barring injuries. If Harper continues to improve from THIS as a 19 year old and doesn't get hurt, Pete Rose might not be #1 on the hits list...you don't trade "generation-defining" athletes.

We like the statistics that Edwin is putting up, and seeing as we don't have any protection for Jose Bautista, we are going to have to ask for more. If you have a B potential 1B that's stuck behind Singleton and a reliever in his prime, I'm listening.

I almost totally agree. I DO think if the words strasburg/harper traded were onthe front page they would burn the town down, first stop would be the capitol since they can see it form the stadium. Those talents never get traded, at least not int he first 10 years or so of their time. Puljols went almost 10 years without going anywhere, and that wasnt a trade. Griffey didnt either. Teams just dont trade those players. Bundy with the Orioles should never get traded. I think this thread did seem to lose a bit, it seemed more like fantasy baseball than a team building like it was intended to be. I know if anyone called to try to aquire Strasburg or Harper I would just hang up on them. Zimmerman or Gio, i might listen, only because i needed a laugh for the day.
