      Re: Community Day 2013 - Gameplay - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries

-In '12 when a fielder makes an error on a sac bunt, the hitter is charged an out instead of a sac. Has this been fixed?

-Also with bunting, a sac should not be given when that is not the hitter's intent. Would it be possible for say any drag bunts excluding squeezes in the game to be ineligible for a sac? I'm very guilty of abusing this in RTTS.

-In '12 the CPU third baseman will almost always bare hand and hurry the throw on a ball when charging, even if they have lots of time, resulting in unnecessary misses and errors. Has this been looked in to?

        Really interested in:

Outfielder positioning and depth. It drives me nuts to see how quickly outfielders track and get to the ball on hits. I don't know if it's reaction time, speed or what, but on a single, a batter should have time to round first and at least think about taking the extra base if the situation warrants. In '12, the ball was practically back in the infield before the batter touched first.

Individual dominance by a great pitcher (user). Maybe I'm not very good at pitching, but when I use an ace, I want to feel like it is my ace! I want to throw strikes and not get crushed for it.

CPU pitcher confidence gets on my nerves also. I think it's overdone a bit, maybe not so much influence if a pitcher starts out strong they just get stronger? Make it possible that they can still have a bad inning.

The other day MLB agreed to make all first-to-third moves consider a balk. I noticed a lot of this move last year whenever there were runners at the corners. Did this get fixed? If not could you check into it a CD? Thanks guys!

I'm posting this...because of a play that happened in my game last night.
Something some people had posted about, but I'd never seen myself....and although I knew the OF positioning of the RF seemed way off to me this year(the whole OF IMO..but esp. the RF)...
Craig Biggio(great speed and BR attributes) on 1B ...a pretty sharp single(not a rocket really...just a real hard single) to RF and Biggio gets nailed at 2B.
While I won't say it could never happen, it did look odd.

I just want to put it in a thread to remind myself to look and ask at CD.

              Hi Nem,
I like playing the game and it looking like I'm watching a broadcast of it.
I pitch (classic) using broadcast and hit using a custom BTP view (zone analog, pci off). With the news that all OSD can be turned off, this is great for me. One thing I can't do is sacrifice the fun I have fielding by changing to auto -fielding. Do you know, or can you ask if turning off all OSD includes the indicator circle of the player with the ball? I've learned how to read the ball well enough off the bat to be able to catch fly balls without any fielding indicators, only ground shadows. If I could, I'd also turn off the player with the ball indicator circle.
              Thanks.

                Re: Community Day 2013 - Gameplay - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries

Playing as a SS in RTTS these are a couple of glaring issues:

-There is not enough urgency to throw the ball when I backhand a ball running to my right
-Sometimes my SS gets locked into waiting for a dribbler rather than running toward the plate to get it
-DOUBLE PLAYS! We NEED to be able to flip the ball to the second basemen BEFORE he gets to the bag

My last big issue is fielders blatantly interfering with runners. Either program that call into the game or give the infielders more awareness.

                Thank You

I'm adding this here as a reminder as well.

Pickoffs. Pitchers attempting a pickoff with out stepping off the mound and throwing the ball away. The cpu incorrectly awards two bases. The rule is one base from the mound and two from the field. I hate when a use a deceptive move, throw the ball away, and I have a runner on third instead of second. I forgot to mention it at last CD.

Hopefully fewer pickoffs end up in the stands at all!

Oh man, I can't believe I almost forgot about these...

                      - Any new pitch types this year? Dickey's "angry knuckler"? Trevor Bauer's "reverse slider" aka shuuto, which is also thrown by a few Japanese pitchers (Kuroda, Daisuke, Darvish, Iwakuma, etc. etc.)?

                      - The ability to assign only 2 pitches (most relievers) or 6+ (quite a few starters)?

                      - Have the velocity ranges been widened? With Bruce Rondon being in the running for closer in Detroit, I want to be able to assign him his 101 mph fastball with ~10 inches of run, and I finally want to be able to give Felix his 90 mph changeup and Kimbrel his 87 mph curveball (!)

                      Thanks Nem

but is "shuuto" really such a distinct pitch? Here's a video of one of the best shuuto master from the Japanese league (in early 80s):

                        <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/bs-Z8poQ978" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

(after 20 sec mark). At that time, they really didn't have a distinct notion of different fastballs. It doesn't look all that different from very good two seamer/sinker...

I forgot to ask, but I didn't see the improved ball physics on the fact sheet until recently. It mentions less ground rule doubles.

But what about ground balls that go to the fence? Will we FINALLY see line drives and ground balls go hard enough down the line to get to the wall. It rarely happens now and I hate that its so rare in the game to get a ground ball down the line to hit the wall for a double. It happens so often during an MLB game, ground balls just die in the outfield which is not the case in real life. Those balls reach the wall easily on most hit balls down the line with any force.

From what I've read and seen, the pitch has far more bite than a regular two-seam or even a sinker. I think "reverse slider" sums it up pretty well, and unfortunately there is no current way to represent it in The Show since the fastball trajectory is too straight and the screwball doesn't have enough horizontal movement, in addition to not being nearly fast enough. When trying to implement Bauer's repertoire into the game, I tested out all of the available selections and none of them came close to mimicking the "reverse slider"...

Or other pitches in the dirt, it happens so often during a regular MLB game I would have expected it to be in the game years ago. It can't be that hard to adjust the frequency of this.

Also will batters be able to hit balls well out of the zone, EVER? Its a shame that you cant hit balls at all really in the game as that is also very common. Give a contact penalty or something for balls swung at, but dont make balls at the ankles impossible to hit. They're not and many players are very adept and hitting pitchers well out of the zone and hit them very well.
Agreed 100%. This is a big area that could be improved. I'd love to see a cpu plate discipline slider as well. Are there any new sliders in this game and are we stuck with the same weak 10 point scale as the past?
