SCEA will likely be looking at this issue today.

Yesterday they looked at issues like the ps store, diamond dynasty and stuff.

They're currently doing graphical/art issues.

So today they'll likely be moving on to the gameplay(or FRONTEND) bug type.

MLB The Show 13 Stuttering Thread

Is this bug totally random by the way or does it happen at specific ballparks or with specific pitchers?

I haven't been able to play much yet but one game was smooth and the other had the pitch stutter which made hitting almost impossible.

Last year I had the intro/sound stutter but rebuilding my ps3's libraby did the trick but from reading this thread that won't be helping much this time around.

I know SCEA will be on top of this and I hope they find what it is and can patch it soon!

I've played 4 game so far...all different teams/pitchers and cameras and so far no stuttering whatsoever. I do get the skip in the music on the main screen.
Music only though.

I don't think it was in relation to any specific game - just one of those ancient Chinese secrets.

It actually worked fairly well for some problems.

I have a Visio 42" 1080P HD TV and except for music, which I have turned off, I have seen no skipping or stuttering through 1 exhibition game and 3 regular SEASON games.

I don't pitch and only hit and am playing the game at 720P as reccommended. Hope this is the norm for me and not something that will eventually rear its ugly head.

Anyways, good luck to you guys who are experiencing it.

That was crazy.

I feel like I am telling an old war story but it was with MLB 06 and the WSOD (white screen of death). Back then the game transition screen was white and for some it would freeze, hang up and then transition and some would not see it at all. Some people swore that boiling the disk to get rid of the residue alleviated the problem. This thread is bringing back flashbacks, lol.

A lot of these issues to me are from pushing the PS3, which, at this point, the thing cannot be pushed anymore as we see in so many 3rd party games running at a hilarious 25FPS. I am done with the PS3 so I guess it doesn't bother me a whole lot. But the unis and random stuff. Meh. I will skip this year I guess. That stuttering issue looks awful. If it is a disk drive problem then it should be able to be fixed by rebuilding database and file structure in debug menu. Could be a caching issue.

For the guys having problems go into your debug menu and restore file structure and rebuild database. If that don't work then it has to be a bug or performance issue.

Played a RTTS game as a SP and no stutter, and even played half a franchise game and still no stutter. The only issue i am having is slight skips in my music, both imported console music and the soundtrack from the game itself. Its a little annoying but something i can live with, and would like fixed. Overall its a great game.

i did however have a HUGE amount of skipping and stuttering when i was signed in online. The opening video skipped a lot and so did the music. Disconnected and no issues.

Yesterday I thought, the pitch stutter is not present if I play offline. Now I can confirm that pitch stutter is there no matter what you do.

This game is a wreck, I'm going back to play 12 until they sort this out...

I had no clue what everyone was talking about with this stutter.

After watching that video that someone posted in on the last page, I can say that I have not experience this at all.

My brother d/l the game like I did but he had the ethernet cable pkugged into the PS3 and has no stuttering, so I deleted the game and files restored my file system and I am Redownloading it with ethernet cable plugged in, hope it works.

It's impossible to think, that they did not experience the same during testing the game. They will leave it the way it is, as EA did with FIFA 12, which had the same issue for a lot of people.

I only had a chance to play 2 games on the PS3 last night and unfortunately the pitch stutter problem was so bad it definitely cost me some key at bats which greatly impacted the outcome of the games (1-3 times per inning). I was also getting constant stuttering during the in game music (all disc songs, I haven't added any of my own music yet). After all the built up excitement and anticipation for this game, I was so utterly depressed by this I had to turn off my PS3. Later today I'll try some of the suggestions in this thread, but from what I'm reading it seems like a mixed bag at best.

The pitch stutter is is an absolute game killer for a baseball title IMO that renders the game unplayable for me. Hopefully SCEA can address it through a patch, otherwise it's going to be a very l-l-l-long and f-f-f-frustrating summer

EDIT - I thought I should mention that I own the disc version of the game and I opted for the 10GB install. Also, I have a PS3 slim (500 GB, 5400 RPM Hard Drive) that is hard wired to my router. I have a very fast FiOS Quantum internet service that can download & stream HD movies (even 3D) at blazing speeds. I play dozens of different games on my PS3 and my 360 (also hard wired to router) and have not experienced this type of problem at all on any other game.
