Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I'm new to baseball and baseball games so bear that In mind.

I've got a Royals franchise going at the moment and its going quite well but I seem to struggle with my starting pitchers so I went looking at the trade block to see what was there.

This is the trade I could make:

Royals recieve - John Danks SP, Gordan Beckham 2B, Courtney Hawkins CF

Red Sox recieve - Eric Hosmer 1B & George Kottaras C

I'm not sure wheather I'd be getting ripped off or wheather it's a fair trade etc ?
    EPL - Liverpool FC
    NFL - Kansas City Chiefs
    MLB - Kansas City Royals
    NCAA - KU basketball
    NBA - Cleveland Cavaliers

It's fair but it isn't realistic. Also, I assume you meant White Sox.

You'd need more than 'some more' to make Young/olt fair

              I meant teh whitesox yes.

I did read that this game is prone to the CPU allowing unrealistic and one sided trades.

I've had a look at other teams and I could get Matt Moore from the Rays for Hosmer and Kouttras. Just judging purely by the potential and overall ratings it seems a bit unfair but they seem stacked at starting pitcher.

So maybe standing pat with your vets is the way to go? It looks like you are a buyer not a seller.

Probably you could use some help at 2B/3B/OF. Maybe nabbing a versatile guy like Trevor Plouffe from the Twins could put you over the top. Todd Frazier from the Reds might also make sense if the Reds aren't doing so hot.

                How's your pitching doing?

Not a terrible first attempt, but I doubt this would work. First of all, where are the Sox going to play Hosmer? That would really only work if Konerko or Dunn were out for the season.

Another thing is I'm not so sure the Sox would trade Courtney Hawkins so soon. And he's struggling right now in real life because they've promoted him too aggressively. But with Hahn taking over and their farm in shambles, I highly doubt it's realistic at all to trade for Hawkins.

If you could swap in someone else for Hawkins and maybe send them Moustakas instead of Hosmer, I'd feel you're onto something.

Yeah, but some aren't salvageable. Particularly anything involving Nick Castellanos and Richie Shaffer.

Some of them could be re-worked. Like I said, I'm a big fan of the Halladay to Baltimore one.

I wouldn't take it personally (not saying you are), even those of us who live in this thread get negative feedback from time to time when someone disagrees.

Cliff Lee could probably get any 3B prospect you want.

I knew it was unrealistic but I didn't know if he was trying to be unrealistic-- either way I thought I should just mention it.

Yeah Cliff Lee is leading the league in complete games with 5, and has 3 shutouts. He's 4-5 with a 2.75 ERA.

I'm open to selling vets,I'm just in a tough position because we're only a game back in the division. As far as pitching, I'm not on my PS3 right now but I just posted how Lee is doing, Hamels is struggling with a 4.80 ERA, Halladay has a sub 3 ERA, Kendrick has a sub 3 ERA, and Trevor Cahill has about a 3.18 ERA. So we certainly have depth.

Also, do you guys think I should trade Baez or move him to 3B and move Stewert/Vitters?

Hairston's a mid-C if you deal him to the right team.

Soriano should NOT be a high B + C if he is. That is wayyyyyy too much to get back. Remember, his contract is so unattractive that the Cubs have been offering to pay all but $2MM of it, and eating salary is not an option in the game, though I suppose you could edit his contract down after trading him and you could tack on extra money to a random guy on your team to simulate that.

Frankly, you're not getting any ace pitching prospects for any of your OFs. I'd just look around for the best C-pitching prospect you like at focus on that.

Please, dear god, do not trade Baez. He needs to develop in the minors for at least another 2 years though, so you can't just jump him to 3B now.

EDIT: Soriano is a LOW B and high C on the spreadsheet, which is much better.

I'm pretty sure his contract is minimal in the game.

So you think if I did Soriano/Harriston/?(DeJusus maybe) I can't get a B/C or a B alone? Is it literally impossible to do something like that and have it be realistic if it is fair?
