EDIT: To AC, you should change the part where it says: "If you bring up a trade involving Harper/Strasburg/Stanton it will not be well recieved"

Stanton is clearly being talked about! Put in Hernandez or Trout to replace him.
I'm surprised no one has started a 'chise on this premise alone. Bringing in G-Lo and having your work cut out for you developing pitching there would be pretty awesome. If I hadn't started already.....

Last I checked Montero had been demoted from 3 mid B's or so to now 3 high C's. Gomes could be one of those C's. How about sending them Doubront (not sure if you still have him tho...too lazy to double check)? Otherwise some options, all including Jonny Gomes:

Gomes + Ranaudo (might be an overpay)

    Gomes + Brentz

    Gomes + Light/Workman + Nava

They could use help most at 1B, OF, or P I think.

Stanton really isn't getting much to hit... He's seeing a career low 37.8% pitches in the zone this year. Last year, he saw 41.6% of pitches in the zone which is a big decrease. And he's increased his walk rate like he should. But he's surrounded by pretty much nothing. There's no reprecussions for walking Stanton because I'd rather face who's behind him. Lower quality pitches+ pressure to make something happen= Lower production at the plate.

    http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.asp...ers=0&sort=9,a

By standard fielding metrics, Stanton looks below average but by advanced metrics, he's actually not too bad. 9.1 UZR, which is between Bryce Harper and Ben Zobrist. Yeah, defensive metrics aren't too reliable but I don't think he's as bad as people make him out to be.

I think that it's way too early to seriously downgrade Stanton after about half a year, especially given his circumstances
I'm gonna agree with you both. 164 ABs is very much SSS, however, he doesn't have an insanely long track record to balance that out. He has idiotic power, no doubt, but the history of MLB is riddled with players who had tremendous power but couldn't make contact etc..

I also think he's an average OF in terms of instincts and range, but has a plus arm. He should be fine in the NL for now. He's a little Nelson Cruz-ish out there.

I also agree with not being too quick to downgrade. Otherwise Lawrie and Middlebrooks would both be low Cs by now. We know they're more talented than that. Same is true with Stanton. Weren't they just talking about how Stanton's one of the fastest in MLB history to 100 HR? I thought I heard that recently. With 22, 34, and 37 HRs in his 1st 3 years, dude is legit.

    Here are Stanton's Red Sox numbers from my 'chise if anyone's interested: 24 G 103 AB 28 H 6 2B 1 3B 7 HR 21 RBI .272/.313/.553

I think Stanton's value should be decreased a bit. I thought he was a bit overrated on the spreadsheet to begin with, but it shouldn't be a major change. Maybe something along the lines if changing one of the mid-As to a High B.

                  Thanks Totte

A couple of people thought my high B + low B value for Iglesias was too high, so not sure if we need to haggle over that. I'm not too particular on what the actual value is, as long as it's in the B range. He's hitting .400 (yes, in a small sample) and his defense his outstanding (at SS anyway).

Another thing. I noticed the value for Kyle Crick is a high C I would recommend we jump that up to a high B, and maybe add a second value (high C or low B). Crick is unquestionably the Giants top pitching prospect, and though their system is weak overall, he's quite good actually. Most see a #2 starter if he can refine his command.

I would have PM'd you these but I figure the public should be able to chime in on this.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Long time lurker but this is my first time using 30 team control and I want to make some fair and realistic trades at the deadline. Here is a quick standings breakdown with * denoting they are within 6 games of the WC and bold meaning they are WC leaders:

AL East: BOS TB (4) TOR (6.5) NYY* (7.5) BAL (18.5)
AL Central: DET CLE* (13) KC (15.5) CWS (18.5) MIN (20)
AL West: LAA TEX* (9) OAK* (10.5) SEA (19.5) HOU (20)
NL East: WAS ATL (1.5) PHI* (14) MIA* (15) NYM (21)
NL Central: CIN STL* (12) PITT* (14) MIL* (14.5) CHC (23)
NL West: AZ LAD (9) SF* (14.5) SD (16) COL (18)

I am the Red Sox and have made two minor deals, sending Lackey to the Phillies for Ethan Martin and Ciriaco to the Padres for Travis Buck.

Napoli and Nava have been terrible for me. Napoli is hitting .215/.287/.451 and just came off the DL. While on the DL I called up Mauro Gomez who is hitting .408/.431/.592 in 13 games. Mike Carp, my backup 1B is hitting .320/.384/.488 for the year. I would love to move Napoli but don't think it's realistic so I think I am kind of stuck with him. Nava has an OBP under .300 so I need a LH platoon partner with Gomes who is crushing LHP. Both Kalish and Bradley have struggled in somewhat extended stays in the majors so they aren't the answer for now.

My projected trades are below. Please let me know if they fair/realistic or if anything needs tweaking:
                    Red Sox receive:
                    David DeJesus, LF .307/.366/.502

                    Cubs receive:
Jeremy Hazelbaker, CF .319/.390/.457 in 71 games at AAA this year C potential
Chris Hernandez, SP recently called up to AA 3.98 ERA with 18 Ks in 20.1 IP D potential
                    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
                    Orioles receive:
Steven Moya, RF .269/.338/.361 in AA with C potential

                    Tigers receive:
Luis Ayala, RP 2.70 ERA with 31 Ks and 13 BBs in 56.2 innings
                    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
                    Yankees receive:
Andre Ethier, RF .242/.338/.440 (Wells is hitting under .180, Ichiro is at .218)

                    Dodgers receive:
Manny Banuelos, SP 5.18 ERA 87 Ks 1.80 WHIP in 106 IP at AAA B potential
Austin Romine, C .260/.323/.382 in 65 games at AAA C potential
Dante Bichette Jr, 3B No stats C potential
                    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
                    Pirates receive:
John Danks, SP 4.11 ERA 63 Ks 1.28 WHIP in 118.1 IP

                    White Sox receive:
Chase D Arnaud, SS .257/.307/.323 in 75 games at AAA B potential

Thanks for the feedback. I have a couple more trades that I am looking to do (I am at the ASB right now) but I figured I would post a couple at a time to make it easier on people's eyes.

In game it probably is realistic though as there's no luxury tax.

If the Yankees are a game out of the WC hunt and their corner OFs are performing that poorly I don't think it's completely out of the question. The Yankees don't exactly have a large window to make a run at a championship. I think they make any move possible to make that run.

                              Just my .02 cents.

He is also only making 3.2M per year so his contract isn't terrible like it is in real life.

Though if other people think it is unrealistic as well I could work out a trade involving:

                                Nate McLouth .244/.337/.343
                                Ryan Doumit .274/.316/.425
