Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

At the trade deadline in my Franchise using 30 team control. I want to start making trades for other teams to make it more realistic. Im currently looking at doing deals with the Mets (me) , Cardinals and the A's

The Cardinals are 8.0GB out of the central and 6.0GB of the Wild Card.
The A's are 1.5 ahead of the Yankees for the second wild card spot. The CPU has been trying to trade David Freese (.313 17HR 62RBI) to the A's multiple times. The trades have all included Addison Russell and some type of throw in (Josh Donaldson, Michael Taylor) I reversed these trades because I wasn't sure how realistic it would be for the cardinals to trade Freese. Would a trade packaged around Freese for Addison Russell be realistic and fair?

As for me the cardinals currently have a outfield of Beltran (declining), Jay, and Holliday. Oscar Taveras is currently an 86ovr but he's in AAA because there is no room for him in the Majors . Would the Cardinals be willing to give up Jay to make room for Taveras ? If so who from the Mets would it take? Jay is an 82ovr .293 5HR and 24RBI. I know it would make more sense to give up Beltran but why would anyone trade for a declining 35 year old outfielder.

Sorry for the long post but any answers are appreciated. Thanks

Absolutely no way Oakland deals Russell, and especially not for Freese.

At 6 GB in the wild card on July 31st, the Cards are too close to sell. They probably stand pat, and Taveras can get playing time next year.

I knew Russell was a highly regarded prospect I just didn't know how highly regarded but that makes sense.

As for Jay, Darn.. I wanted him. Would trading him really be selling tho? Couldn't Taveras give them just as good a shot if not better at chasing the wild card? He's a better overall and a better hitter in the game so what is STL really losing?

Russell's top 20 in baseball iirc. He's a total stud, maybe even top 5 prospect by the end of the year.

Yes, trading a vet who starts is considered selling even if you have a top prospect to fill in. In real life, no prospect is expected to step in and produce like an every day player in a pennant chase.

I'd look around at other teams farther out and look for a Jay-type player if you want a realistic trade.

If you don't care about realism, you can get Jay.

Any ideas guys on how I could get Konerko to the A's in a realistic trade looking for some additional power to Reddick and Cespedes any ideas would be helpful

I think that's a little high on him tbh (just to nitpick )

Realistically, Konerko is going to retire with the White Sox... A fair but unrealistic trade would be AJ Griffin as Jakesparrow suggested... A cheap option for power could be Reynolds of the Indians as he was recently DFA'd IRL so he could be had for peanuts... Otherwise there could be a few other realistic options, just need to know which teams are out of it provided you are far enough into the season...

I think Griffin's too much for an old, declining, rental Konerko. I know he gives up lots of homers but I like Griffin quite a bit.

I was thinking griffin as well since we got blackley and a lot of
Younger guys coming up as well. I just passed the all star game and about a week outfrom
The deadline and the white sox have put Konerko on the market he only hitting .245 with 9 hrs and 39 RBI on the year so could even get him for less.

I not a big fan of Reynolds yeah he got power but he can be a bit strikeout prone as well looking for a good solid hitter I know Konerko IRL will retire a whitesox but in my franchise he seems to be the perfect guy to replace moss
As well since he gone down with a rotator cuff injury..

Even thinking Morneau,Ike Davis or Laroche as well thanks for the feedback guys much appreciated..

Which part? He's already top 20 according to MLB. He's #20 on the dot.

The top 5 part is a guess/opinion, but I think given graduation of 3-5 guys, injuries of a couple others, and Russell smashing it up as a 19 year old SS in the Cal league 1 year after being drafted...how is top 5 that too high, again? lol

My top 5 at the end of the year given everything remains status quo...

                            1. Buxton
                            2. Taveras
                            3. Bogaerts
                            4. Russell
                            5. Sano

You could flip a coin between Sano, Russell, and Lindor at 4-6 though. A. Bradley, Walker, Correa, and Baez would round out my top 10 in no particular order. Gray, Appel, and Bryant are all hot on the trail, too.

Well said. Just wanted to add to the chorus saying any trade of Konerko is not realistic in any way shape or form. Unless he were to request a trade irl, which I don't see happening, he will not go anywhere. I actually think Griffin is a bit of an underpay too fairness-wise.

I'm looking to trade Rickey Romero on my jays franchise. If possible I would like to get one of the better relievers in the game, I'm thinking someone like Herrera from the royals?
