Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I see that this thread is dying a little bit with the regular season but I was hoping for some advice on a trade.

I'm the Mets in the off-season. I went 91-71 in 2013 and lost in the Wild Card game. Right now both of my corner outfielders, Marlon Byrd and Mike Morse, are free agents, so I could definitely use an outfielder. I'm thinking Matt Kemp because the Dodgers have Crawford, Puig, and Ethier. Plus they missed the playoffs so they'd probably want some more young talent since they've been struggling for the past few years. What players would they want? I'm open to giving up anybody except for Zach Wheeler and Matt Harvey.

I've been getting the vibe Kemp could be moved as well, I think even the Dodgers have a limit and moving Kemp's deal could be of large service if he's not playing amazingly. I think d'Arnaud could be a really great fit for the Dodgers actually.

I'd want to know how Kemp performed in your virtual world. I think they'd want to move Ethier or they may want to keep all four, but the possibility is not dead for Kemp moving either.

I think if everyone performed similarly to IRL, Dodgers would want to move Kemp for a bigger return and get rid of the worse salary.

Buster Olney speculated in a Kemp for Hamels swap late in the summer which made some sense. Either way, I could see Ethier be the odd man out but if there's a golden opportunity to shed Kemp and his large contract, I think Colleti would get right down to business

I don't think Kemp is worth Hamels.

Alright in my Astros franchise I put Altuve on the block (he's been struggling hitting below.100 I just can't hit with the guy) and the Tampa Bay Rays came calling and Offered Ben Zobrist and Either Alex Cobb or Chris Archer (i have to pick one or the other not both) and Brandon Guyer was a throw in. Should I take that trade? Also the Nationals Offered A.J. Cole and Danny Espinosa as well. Suggestions on which trade I should take?

If you are looking for fairness or realism, the Nats trade is both though Espinosa would have to be having a bad year like he did in real life for realism.

If you want to know which is the best deal for your team, the Rays are getting ripped off there.

I'm playing as the Braves and I'm looking to move Kimbrel after the 2013 season or maybe before the 2014 deadline (I know he gets way too expensive for me to hold on to pretty quickly). What teams would be in on him (Tigers come to mind) and what would be some realistic packages for me to receive for him? I'm not too picky on what position the prospects are, as I need depth pretty much anywhere, but I'm partial to 3B, 2B and outfield prospects if that helps at all.

You can get a crapload of prospects for him. He is one of the greatest relievers in baseball, and is the best rates in the Show (based off of OSFM) Look at the spreadsheet first. He is worth Castellanos at least. It's hard to calculate a good package from a team with little farm like the Tigers.

He's a relief pitcher, granted the best one but still, a relief pitcher. The spreadsheet says two mid-A's and a B, but I could not realistically see any team giving up that much for him. The most you could get with good timing and to a team in the hunt yet needing a RP for the playoffs would be a comp to what TEX gave up for Uehara a couple of years ago--a 1B with contact issues and raw power but yet to develop as a hitter and a SP prospect (who turned out to be Chris Davis and Tommy Hunter).

I'd wait if I were you to pull that off near the deadline. If you went now, Detroit would rather not give up Castellanos and would go the FA route if anything. You'd have to get for 2nd rate prospects.

That is if you are looking for realism...

Well, there really isn't any realistic way to get Kimbrel because his price is so high, and because he's an extreme top tier reliever.

In fairness, they'd get a top tier prospect.

Heard blue jays were after kemp. What would be a fair realistic price to get him to Toronto

We are both sharing our opinions on it. The market is saturated driving down costs. Plus, he is the Braves GM as far as I am concerned so giving up Kimbrel can be realistic. I am not the Braves GM in my franchise so I agree that gerting him might not be realistic.
