Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I traded Fielder for Adrian Beltre. Lol. It's pretty unrealistic that a team would touch that 7 remaining years on his deal, but he had a .950 OPS and Texas needed a first basemen/DH. I took on Beltre's 3yrs/65 million.

And ACMilan99, that quote in your signature is hilarious! haha

Seems like it would be wise to not let the trade go through. Thanks for all the input guys!

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

This one just came up in my 'chise, about four days before the ASB.

        White Sox: RP Nate Jones - 5-0, 2.86 ERA, 35 K, 18 BB

        for

        Nationals: AAA SP Ian Krol (66 ovr, Low-B pot) - 3-6, 6.01 ERA, 66 SO, 12 BB

Nationals are tied with the Phillies for first place in the NL East, at 52-39.

White Sox are 43-46, third in the AL Central, and 8.5 games out of first. They've lost 4 in a row, and their just 3-7 in their last 10 games.

Do I let it go through? Should I wait and see how the Sox are doing closer to the deadline?

It's fair enough but unrealistic. Nats like Krol but Sox really like Jones.

I've been trying to figure this out on my own, but - if a team has just a few grades (say, B), how do I know if they are high or low even after sorting?

They could all be "low" or "high", etc.

How am I supposed to figure that out to build fair trade offers?

Right, and it also says that not all teams have all three tiers.

It mentions sorting - I sort, I see the guys listed in a new order, but that doesn't tell me if I'm looking at 81, 82, 83 POT (low Bs) or 81, 84, 88 (one low, one mid, one high), etc.

There are about 8-10 subsets or tiers of every potential. Be careful though, as not every team has all of these subsets, so a low B prospect on a team with a bad farm may look like a high B.
So I'm asking how can I avoid this trap.

It's really not that much of a problem.

Which prospects are you talking about, mainly?

Let's take SP Jeff Ames (TB Rays, AA), for example.

I have no A's in my AA team. So Ames is the highest rated B on the team.

I can't assume he is a "high B" because maybe I just have a bunch of "low B's" on the team.

How can I tell if he's actually close to being an A (a "High B") or if he's just the best of a relatively medicore batch?

You should be sorting the potentials of your entire organization, not just your AA team, to get a broader range.

When I do that - Ames is the 5th B out of 27 B-graded players.

Does that mean he's a "high B" or I still can't assume because maybe they are all mid or lower?

I think you're trying to get this down to an exact science, which it's not. It's an approximation, as are all prospect's potentials.

                            5th from the top.

Cobb, interestingly enough, is 5th from the bottom...but has the highest OVR of anyone in the B grades.

I'm just trying to use the list correctly. I don't want to rip off the CPU (or be accused of it in my TB dynasty if/when I make a trade in there) because I hate doing that in sports games.

I know you and others put a lot of work in the list, so I want to use it correctly and understand the tiering to make good offers/accept good offers.

Thanks for taking the time to assist.

                              The mid-high B. It's an approximation.

Then Cobb may be due to regress.

I wouldn't stress over it too much, just run it by us and approximate.

                              No problem.

Pretty much everything AC said, but I wanted to add that you 'accepting good offers' probably isn't going to happen. It's once in a blue moon that the CPU actually offers anything that is realistic or fair.

There are a lot of guys that creep this thread that will be more than willing to help if you want some confirmation on any deals.
