Pujols is 33 and regressing, the kind of packages you want would be used to get Stanton, Tulo, Cargo or Pedroia

Pujols is still one of the best. 33 isn't THAT old to spend a whole slew of prospects on. Pujols still has the ability to hit 45-50 HRs especially with the Angels. Just look at the package the Jays gave for Dickey. That revamped trades for players over 30. I'm sticking with my trade

Dude pujols is getting 220 million, Dickey is getting 30. The Angels will be paying him until 2022!!!! It is a horrible contract. Pujols Avg, OBP, slugging and OPS have all regressed 4 years in a row. Nobody in their right mind is giving up high end prospects plus paying 220 MILLION. hey man your league have fun but its not realistic.

I'm not doing that trade. Statdude is. I'm just putting my .02 in. I would never take on that much money. He wanted to do a firesale so we helped him and voiced our opinion. I mean, you do have a valid point, but Pujols is still Pujols. Is he good? Yes. Do I like the contract? No. Would I trade for him? No. Anyways, we are done with that part of the thread...

Woah wait how did I miss the Dickey thing

Dickey's knuckleball effectively makes him a 29 year old pitcher right now at the peak of his career. He's also making 30 million over 3 years.

Pujols is old, may be older than he's listed, and started a somewhat sharp decline last year. He's making 220 something or other with equity stakes that could push him up some absolutely ungodly amount, over 20 years (stakes included).

Where's the connection?

By no means am I comparing their contracts. Pujols' contract is crazy for his uncertain age. For all we know, he could be 38 too! Now I'm starting to lean towards low value for Pujols. Itw, you are right, that probably is too many prospects giving up. I mean c'mon, Jameson friggin Tallion! On of baseball's top 10 prospects for an overpaid, unknown aged, declining 1B. I'll have to change my mind on that one...

I completely see what all you guys are saying. I'm just trying to do something here that nobody has or ever will do, trade away Pujols. Yes he is old and his contract is ridiculous, but I'm just trying to have fun with my game in a way that I want it. I'm all ok with fairness in trades and to some degree realism. But doing a fire sale is not realistic, so that throws that out the way. I'm just trying to find a fit where he would go and it just so happened that the Pirates are the only fit. If you don't believe the deal is fair, I'm all for hearing new proposed trades. Ya, I'll be disappointed that Pujols wasn't worth exactly what I thought he was, buts its a fire sale and its all about getting those prospects back in return. If I don't get Cole or Taillon, so be it. But I'd love to hear what you guys would think is a fair trade
