Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Working on finalizing my trade with the Braves, and I wanted to run this final edit by you guys:

Braves get: SP Eddie Butler, SP Jayson Aquino, and RP Wilton Lopez
Rockies get: C Brian McCann, INF Ramiro Pena

I was thinking Pasternicky instead of Pena, but I didn't know if that would be too much to ask. He's still a B-potential, and I think Atlanta has plans for him in the future.

    Thoughts?

I honestly don't think you're getting enough here, McCann is pretty great.

I'm the Rockies. Going by the spreadsheet, McCann is a High B + High C. With this, they'd be getting a High B + Mid B. Plus Pena is just a High D, which would essentially give them a High B in Lopez.

I thought you were the Braves, whoops.

Butler and Aquino are high B and mid B's? Okay, that's news to me. If that's true, then sure.

            No problem buddy.

I know there aren't a lot of people who keep up on the Rockies farm system.

            Appreciate it!

That's what I was thinking about the Ruiz Nova deal too AC.

I thought it was a good straight up trade I mean I'm done with Nova only spot he has with me is in the pen, and I need some offensive production at catcher, and after they drop out of contention and dump they're old pitchers they're gonna need some good young pitchers.

Plus maybe Nova can turn it around in the NL like some other guys.

Now just gotta wait to a little further in the season, and for them to drop a little further back.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Alright guys just finished the regular season with the Orioles at 99-63. I haven't begun the playoffs yet because I'm going to be away from my PS3 this weekend so I have been thinking about my offseason plans.

I have decided I wanna trade JJ Hardy. He just came off a season where he won the gold glove and silver slugger for shortstops so I figure his value will be high.

I don't have all the exact numbers but I know he was batting around .275 30HR 80+RBI, with an OBP around .310 (I know is bad). As far as sabrmetrics I know his RC was around 85 with a ~.2 ISO. Defensively he was really good all year only committing 6 errors on well over a thousand chances.

I know a lot of teams need a shortstop but I feel the best match is definitely the Cardinals. I don't know exactly what there record was but I know they barely missed out on a wild card spot. I looked at there lineup and there only hole was at shortstop and they could use a 5 or 6 hitter by my analysis. With the depth of there farm system I believe this is a good match.

I know what the spreadsheet says but after that season I figure Hardy's value has to increase. Assuming he doesn't dominate in the postseason what do you think I could get from the Cardinals? I know that I wan't prospects at any position (Just and FYI they already traded Matt Adams) but other than that I don't have any real preferences. I am hoping for two solid pieces to stock my minors with.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated and if you have any other teams in mind I would encourage you to suggest them.

Excellent post, I love these kinds of posts with all the info! And good idea on selling high with Hardy, you should move Machado back to SS.

If you're going to ship him to the Cardinals, I think you could probably get Joe Kelly and Kolten Wong, considering those stats.

You may be able to pull Billy Hamilton or Tony Cingrani (who I absolutely love, next Cliff Lee for me).

If Brendan Crawford isn't playing well, you *may* get Crick from the Giants.

If Jed Lowrie isn't playing well either, maybe Straily, maybe Brett Anderson?

Thanks AC, thats the plan with Machado and I drafted this stud prospect to eventually take over at third

I absolutely love this deal although Schoop has debuted for me so I need to find a new position for him. Maybe Left field since he has moderate power and average speed.

You may be able to pull Billy Hamilton or Tony Cingrani (who I absolutely love, next Cliff Lee for me).

Love both of these guys as well but there are a few problems that you have no way of knowing. Hamilton was traded to the Mets in a deal for David Wirght (before you freak out the Mets were way way way out of it and despite the extension it seemed like a time were they might actually move him. I feel like Eithers extension kinda proves an extension doesn't always take a guy off limits although a captaincy might lol. Also with the Wright acquisition there isn't really a spot in the batting order for Hardy but if they let anyone walk I will come back to this)

If Brendan Crawford isn't playing well, you *may* get Crick from the Giants.

Oooooh I aboslutely love Crick and I know Crawford struggled but if your not 100% sold then I'm not either

If Jed Lowrie isn't playing well either, maybe Straily, maybe Brett Anderson?

Both great players and I am high on Straily but Anderson is too injury prone (hurt in my chise as well) and believe it or not I don't have a rotation spot for him atm. I actually have to figure out how to get rid of a pitcher but I haven't decided whcih one yet.
My responses are in bold and really thank you for all the suggestions

Sounds like the Cards are your best fit.

Maybe Hardy for Carlos Martinez straight up?

That actually works pretty perfectly because Martinez is young and with my pitching depth I can give him some time to develop.

                        Thanks so much AC.

I actually really like the Hardy for Wong + Kelly move. Gives the Cards the SS and you get a couple prospects

EDIT: Nvm I see you like the Martinez deal which is nice as well

About a month ago I was wondering what I could get for Rickie Weeks. Well he's having a monster year (by his standards). Stats .315 HRs 14 RBI 44...RC 53 Iso .211 and he's only on pace for 90 Ks(probably the most surprising thing to me)

A few deals I had gotten from people were:

to the Nats for Espinosa + low B (could go to a Mid B)

to Dodgers for Pedersen, Reed + Guerra

and to OAK for AJ Griffin + Green

From the season he's having wouldn't his value be upped a pretty good bit?

Also I was thinking of doing a deal w/ the Braves

The first one is probably a stretch

                              Weeks for Minor

Weeks for Pastornicky + Sean Gilmartin

Weeks + Hellweg for Uggla + Minor is fine, as is Weeks for Pederson.
