I think you need to do pitcher for hitter. There's no incentive for a team to deal you a younger, cheaper MLB-ready P for Lyles--unless you take back salary.

Sending salary to the Marlins isn't going to work if you want realism.

Alright, so I asked about a possible Chris Sale trade (I am the CWS) about a week or two ago, and got some great feedback. I'm typically pretty uptight when it comes to realism, but I want to go ahead with a trade because I'm really not having a whole lot of fun with this franchise. I figured I could change that with some prospects.

I am in the 2014 offseason and feel that Erik Johnson is absolutely ready to step in. Rienzo more than likely will start the season off, but he might be better suited for the bullpen. In real life if Peavy (or perhaps any other CWS pitchers) is traded I will probably reverse the trade, but for now I need some spice.

Would enjoy a trade centered around the following players (listed left to right in order of how I view them):
Dodgers: Zach Lee - Joc - Chris Reed - Valentin - Stripling - Michael Thomas
Rangers: Sardinas - Olt - Alfaro - Ronald Guzman - Brinson - CJ Edwards
Padres: Fried- Roach - Jankowski - Jace Peterson - Wisler

Obviously I would not expect all the players above - just showing whom I would like the most, and would welcome most other players not named. Problem is, I can't figure out who to trade him to and what for. Therefore, any help is appreciated as far as someone liking him to a certain team and who for, haha.

You can get waaaaaay more for Sale. It is highly unrealistic because of his age and pure greatness. You can easily get a Stanton-like package back for him. Probably more.

The Dodgers have a meh farm to make this trade. They WILL NOT give up Puig so it isn't a real fit.

Texas is probably the same as Stanton

Padres: Fried, Hedges, Kelly/Gyorko, another high B

Of those guys? Take your pick of any of 'em lmao. You're really undervaluing Sale here. To put it in perspective, if you were trading him to the Jays, you could get something like:

Sanchez + Osuna + Gose + Jimenez + Stroman

Hell, I would consider trading Lawrie for him. Dunno I would with my concerns about his delivery but I'd consider it.

Would you pay Pedroia+ for Sale? 'cause that's essentially what you're asking me with that.

That's 3 A's and two high B's. That's a Stanton-esque package.

I didn't finish! Sale is a 23 year old ace and there aren't alot. Sale is Stanton-esque, and then some. He is an elite pitcher who is up there with Kersh, Strasburg, etc. I know he has a scary delivery, but he is still elite.

I probably wouldn't say that Sale has *that* much more value than Stanton, and I think his delivery impacts his value more than you'd think.

I wouldn't really compare the two, other than to say gee that Brett Lawrie is not close to as good as Pedroia.

Was just thinking of some of my trade deadline options. I'm currently leading the American League East so assuming that I stay there, I'd be willing to move R.A. Dickey. Assuming he keeps his consistent play, he'd have a 6-8 record with an ERA of just over 3.00. What do you think I'd be able to get back if I'm contending?

This doesn't make any sense. You'd trade Dickey if you were out of contention, not leading the division.
