Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Alright, so I started an Astros franchise. I decided to simulate the first 2 seasons and start playing the 3rd one. I've made some moves, improved quite a bit in the second season (won 53 games in season 1, and 74 in season 2). Here is my lineup to kick off the 3rd season:
1. CF George Springer - 77 overall
2. 2B Jose Altuve - 94
3. LF J.D. Martinez - 78
4. DH Chris Carter - 80 (hit 42 HRs in season 2)
5. 1B Jonathan Singleton - 71
6. SS J.J. Hardy - 81 (signed during season 2 offseason)
7. RF Domonic Brown - 79 (traded for in season 1)
8. 3B Jimmy Paredes - 71
9. C Carlos Perez - 67
Bench:
2B Delino DeShields Jr. - 78 overall
C Max Stassi - 69
CF Brandon Barnes - 73
SS Jace Peterson - 73 (rule 5 draft in season 2 offseason)
Pitching Rotation:
Jon Lester - 91 overall (signed in season 1 offseason)
Jordan Lyles - 84
Brad Peacock - 83
Jair Jurrjens - 81 (rule 5 draft in season 1 offseason)
Philip Humber- 81
Bullpen:
Jarred Cosart - 80 overall
Hector Ambriz - 71
Adam Ottavino - 77
Rhiner Cruz - 67
Kenley Jansen - 93 (acquired via trade in season 2)
Xavier Cedeno - 70
CP - Heath Hembree - 84 (signed during season 1 offseason)
I'm about to play the opening day game of the season against the Angels. I'm very excited to finally be able to play some games with this team.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
After losing 3 of 4 to the struggling Cubbies, we have bounced back and have taken the first 2 of 3 from the Rangers.
Both games we scored after the 7th inning to win.Comment

I know the air has some effect, for example, Coors Field is represented semi realistically, so I would assume that the air temp also is too.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
In my Mariners franchise, I traded for Dee Gordon, and Billy Hamilton, at the expense of Brad Miller, Carson Smith, and Lucas Luetge. I bumped them both to the big club, and they are hitting at the top of the lineup, talk about creating havoc on the base paths. Need less to say, I'm off to a 12-5 start.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

It never fails. I started the first game of the season and made it to the 7th inning... and then the game froze.
I'll try again tomorrow.Comment

After two weeks of the season have passed many are surprised to see the Yankees on top of the AL East boasting an 8-4 record. Eduardo Nunez has been clutch batting 360 with 2 bombs. Gardner has also been off to a great start batting 405 with many many bunt singles. I have everybody on the DL and is going swimmingly right now. I play one sim five and am 1-1. it's been a lot of fun so far. Hopefully I'll make some moves later in the season.

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Well, it's been that type of day for me. I decided to try to play the first game again and I loaded up my franchise only to realize the last time I saved it was halfway through the 2nd season.
So I had to start from there. I simulated the rest of the season and pretty much ended up with the same roster. The only differences were:
At 3B I have Jesus Medeiros (picked him up in the Rule 5 draft instead of Jace Peterson). He's got a pretty solid all-around bat, he doesn't have a good glove, though.
I kept Jose Veras now. During my past save, Tampa Bay offered me a young SP for him, so I accepted. This time, that didn't happen. So now Veras is closing games with Hembree and Jansen commanding the 7th and 8th innings.
I still decided to play the 1st game of the 2015 season. I ended up losing to the Angels 3-1. J.J. Hardy hit a solo HR and that was pretty much the extent of my offense.
Jon Lester got hurt in the 7th inning. I brought in Rhiner Cruz who shut them down to finish the inning off. Xavier Cedeno gave up a solo HR to Josh Hamilton to make it 3-1. Kenley Jansen struck out all 3 batters in the top of the 9th inning, but we couldn't make the comeback in the bottom of the 9th.
The good news is, Lester just had shoulder soreness, so he should be ready to go soon.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
6 years into my Marlins franchise..
And we've went
2013: 74-88
2014: 77-85
2015: 59-103
2016: 65-97
2017: 85-77
2018: 92-70 (Division winners, Lost to Atlanta in 1st round)
The first 2-3 years were mostly trading for prospects and drafting right, in 2014 I had 4 (A) potential Starting Pitchers in AA, along with 6 (A) potential position players, (a LF, 3B, SS, CF, another SS and a Catcher).. All were under the age of 20.. I kept most except for 2 of the pitchers and the SS, in AA til 2016, the 3 I brought up were in AAA til 2016 and I gave them spot work in the Majors.. But all of them are with the big club now in 2019, except for one of the SS that I traded to Milwaukee for a Closer..
The only players from the current Marlins roster I still have are Stanton, Jose Fernandez, Blantly, and Lomo..
I've also gotten some decent enough veterans on the club to help out..
It's a bright future for the team, alot of young and talented players already with the big league team, though I do worry about the fact that my AAA and AA teams are basically starved for talent, aside from 1 (A) potential 18 year old Pitcher I have in AAFavorite Teams:
NCAAB- Duke Blue Devils (Defending National Champs!)
NASCAR- Kevin Harvick (Defending Sprint Cup Champ!)
NBA- Los Angeles Clippers
MLB- Miami Marlins
NFL- New York Jets
NCAAF- Duke Blue Devils
NHL- Carolina HurricanesComment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Decided to retire my franchise. Had some things happen that made me mad. then stopped caring and let every trade go through. So im gonna start over with a new one.
But i decided to sim the rest of the season. The previous 2 years the Royals had been 10+ games under .500 through 81 games. They made the playoffs the 1st year. Eventually losing in the WS. The second year they finished 82-80. This year they were down 15 games at the halfway point. I simmed everything after the AS break. They finished 84-78. But the season wasnt over. 2 other teams had the same record. So 12 game tie breaker with the Rangers. We win. Then at 85-78. We have to play Cleveland as well. We win. It was amazing to see. I dont think its ever happened IRL. 2 tie breaker games. Havent simmed the playoffs yet. We play Seattle in the Wild Card game.
Mike Moustakas was robben of the MVP for the 2nd time in 3 years. He finished with a .320 avg, 33 HR, and 117 RBI. Trumbo won with a .299 avg, 40 HR and 118 RBI. Yeah he hit 7 more homers. But his average was 20 points less. And he only had 1 more RBI. To me the average makes up for the homers. But thats just me.
Bubba Starling won the ROY. And finished 3rd in the MVP voting. he hit .299 with 28 homers and 120 rbi's.
With the new Franchise ill be using the Royals again most likely. Might go cubs. Ill make a new post once i decide.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
(Posting it here since the Cubs thread got closed...)
I want to start a 2nd more sim heavy franchise and was thinking about using the Chicago Cubs. I would be playing without preexisting injuries.
They have pretty good starting pitching in The Show, two aces with Garza and Samardzija at the top of the rotation as well as more depth than most other teams with Jackson, Baker, Wood, Villanueva, Feldman and Moscoso.
1 or even 2 of them could also be traded away to a team in need like the Rockies maybe in exchange of a decent hitter or prospect.
Their Bullpen could need some additions but that could be done easily with the remaining free agents. Thinking about adding Brian Wilson or K Rod as well as Bobby Jenks as a middle reliever. Note: Carlos Marmol is actually pretty good in the game.
Other than that the Cubs are a little thin on the bench in terms of infielders, so I could imagine to add Ryan Theriot (maybe make him my everyday 3rd Basemen?) and Tyler Green.
Those additions could solve that problem as well.
What do you guys think about my plans guys, and how good could the cubs be in 2013 after those additions and if everything else comes together?

Ugh, my Nats are in the midst of a miserable 5 game slide in early May. Halladay my ace just got shelled in San Diego and I think my bats stayed back on the east coast. Not a good west coast swing so far.

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Yankees are going for 3 out 4 vs the Tribe tonight. I am getting contributions from everywhere so far.....and I am really enjoying playing without Grandy and Tex right now...it is making for some interesting story lines and roster decisions in May.
I want the Captain back....it is just not the same without Derek. And Nunez is showing some limitations here and there at SS.

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Kansas City Royals - 2013 - April Update
Record - 11-14
5th Place AL central (7.5 GB)
April didnt go as well as i had hoped. 7.5 back early and with the way my starts have been performing. That number is likely to grow before it starts to shrink. We should be 13-11 but the comeback code has decide to screw me over recently. Aside from James Shields who has been great. My starters are a combined 4-10 with a 7.27 ERA. Team has an ERA of 5.11. Luis Mendoza has been doing pretty good in AAA. He is most likely gonna get called up and Ervin Santana sent down. He has an ERA over 11.
Hitting has been okay. Having Dyson face righties and Francoeur face lefties has worked out well. Hitting .321 and .366. We are hitting .265 overall.
9 series coming up in May. Only 1 against a division opponent. 7 of the 9 teams we face have a winning record. We could very easily only get 8 win this month. If we start pitching maybe we can get back into things. But its not looking good.Comment
