Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Just nearing the end of a crazy opening month with the Cubs. Started out losing four in a row, and finished my first two series' sitting at 1-6. By the end of the second week I was at 2-9.
The pitching stabilized quite a bit in the third week, and somehow I now sit at a miraculous 12-12 after sweeping former division leader Cincinnati on the road, and a currently on a six game winning streak.
Nobody is tearing the cover off the ball as we're 17th in batting average with Anthony Rizzo leading the team at .277, and 21st in HR's, where Rizzo again leads, but with a mere three. If this pace keeps up we may not have a 20 HR hitter, but the power has come around a bit since the weather warmed up.
Timely hitting and excellent defense have really keyed the turnaround. Starlin Castro has been a monster defensively. Where in the first two weeks of the season everything was a disaster, small ball decisions are consistently paying off.
We'll see if this turnaround hints at the trajectory of the team for this season or if it's an anomaly.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
I try to play a couple a week or sometimes I'll play two in a series if it's a rival or division opponent. Usually end up simming a decent amount. Speaking of simming, my fantasy draft Cardinals just beat the Phils 21-0Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Same as a lot of guys, I usually play the first game of a series or specific pitching match ups that interest me. Sometimes I'll only do the pitching/fielding and sim through the bats, and sometimes I'll only bat and sim pithing.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
I try playing as many games as I can, but the reality is that I want to get through multiple seasons and baseball is a long year.
When I do sim, I do it via Sportscast Manager and then jump in the game if I want. That way I still have control over what happens.Comment

Series Review
-- The Nationals took 2 out of the 3 and Stephen Strasburg looked like sharp going 8.2 striking out 13 (Polanco, Stanton 3 each). Juan Pierre was the lone bright spot of the Marlins offense, Pierre had 6 hits in the series to go along with a stolen base, Polanco and Stanton struggled midly to move Pierre in scoring position as Pierre scored just once in the series. Justin Ruggiano and Giancarlo Stanton took Dan Haren yard but the Nationals bats were to much for Kevin Slowey who through 3.2 (10 H, 6 R). Nats Jayson Werth off to a tear (.538 AVG, 4 RBI), Ryan Zimmerman (.455, 4 RBI).

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
I'm currently 7-5 in my Phillies franchise and am in the middle of a 6 game winning streak after starting the season 1-5.
My hottest hitter by far to start the season is Domonic Brown who through 12 games is batting .422 with 5 home runs, 4 doubles, 2 triples, and 15 RBI.
Batting .273 as team so far and my pitching staff ERA at the moment is at 4.37.Comment

Kansas City Royals - 2013 - April Update
Record - 11-14
5th Place AL central (7.5 GB)
April didnt go as well as i had hoped. 7.5 back early and with the way my starts have been performing. That number is likely to grow before it starts to shrink. We should be 13-11 but the comeback code has decide to screw me over recently. Aside from James Shields who has been great. My starters are a combined 4-10 with a 7.27 ERA. Team has an ERA of 5.11. Luis Mendoza has been doing pretty good in AAA. He is most likely gonna get called up and Ervin Santana sent down. He has an ERA over 11.
Hitting has been okay. Having Dyson face righties and Francoeur face lefties has worked out well. Hitting .321 and .366. We are hitting .265 overall.
9 series coming up in May. Only 1 against a division opponent. 7 of the 9 teams we face have a winning record. We could very easily only get 8 win this month. If we start pitching maybe we can get back into things. But its not looking good.Comment

People need something to blame for them not winning, it's never themselves, it's always the game! Only a poor craftsman blames his tools!Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Decided to try a more challenging dynasty with the Royals. In the first season, I played the games where James Shields was pitching up until we were eliminated from playoff contention. We finished 72-90 on the year. It was disappointing because we got off to a great start and I was hoping players like Hosmer and Moustakas would get better as the season went on, but we faded pretty bad. This season my starting lineup and pitching rotation looks like this:
Lineup
1) Irving Falu, SS
2) Lorenzo Cain, CF
3) Alex Gordon, LF
4) Eric Hosmer, 1B
5) Mike Moustakas, 3B
6) Salvador Perez, C
7) Brandon Belt, DH
8) Jeff Francouer, RF
9) Darwin Barney, 2B
Rotation
1) James Shields
2) Madison Bumgarner
3) Homer Bailey
4) Wei Yin Chen
5) Wade Davis
All of the new pitchers were traded for last year and I did not sign any big free agents in the offseason. I just focused on resigning Shields to a 4yr/$34M contract as well as bringing back RP Aaron Crow and CP Greg Holland. The core of the team is signed through the next two seasons, so hopefully it'll be enough to put together a postseason run before I have to make tough contract decisions. I'll provide updates maybe 3 times per each season.NFL: Packers
