Didn't exactly expect it to happen that way.
I feel your guys pain. I wasn't no hit, but in my franchise game playing as the Mets, Stephen Strasburg got inside my head. He threw 7 innings of 1 hit ball with 16 strikeouts. I struck out a total of 19 times in the 4-1 loss. I usually average between 5-7, so it was unusual.
Mets pitcher Tug McGraw, on whether he prefers grass to AstroTurf: “I don’t know. I’ve never smoked AstroTurf.”

        Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Just finished up June. Sitting at 48-34 and leading the Reds by 5 games in the Central.

We really struggled going 14-13 this month, but the Reds had a worse month thus helping us increase our division lead from 3 to 5 games.

Now that July has come I am seriously looking at upgrades to my club, especially at 2B. I cannot find consistency there. Also looking for a #2 hitter in the lineup. It has been a merry-go-round at that spot all season.

I really like Jose Altuve of the Astros, but they will not give him up. I have thought about just bringing someone up, but not sure that will resolve the issue.

Also, a 5th starter is being hunted for, and I'm kinda wishing now I would've made the move for Ryan Dempster when the BoSox put him on optional waivers. Carpenter isn't doing the job(he's in the pen now) and Shelby Miller needs another year before he can be effective. He has the tools, just not the command yet.

Outside of 2B & SP, we are pretty much sit for the pennant chase. Improving my bench wouldn't be a bad thing either, but its not a necessity.

It was disappointing because we got off to a great start and I was hoping players like Hosmer and Moustakas would get better as the season went on, but we faded pretty bad. This season my starting lineup and pitching rotation looks like this:
          Lineup
          1) Irving Falu, SS
          2) Lorenzo Cain, CF
          3) Alex Gordon, LF
          4) Eric Hosmer, 1B
          5) Mike Moustakas, 3B
          6) Salvador Perez, C
          7) Brandon Belt, DH
          8) Jeff Francouer, RF
          9) Darwin Barney, 2B
          Rotation
          1) James Shields
          2) Madison Bumgarner
          3) Homer Bailey
          4) Wei Yin Chen
          5) Wade Davis

All of the new pitchers were traded for last year and I did not sign any big free agents in the offseason. I just focused on resigning Shields to a 4yr/$34M contract as well as bringing back RP Aaron Crow and CP Greg Holland. The core of the team is signed through the next two seasons, so hopefully it'll be enough to put together a postseason run before I have to make tough contract decisions. I'll provide updates maybe 3 times per each season.
For every spot you move up in the lineup you gain 20 abs per season I like the pitching staff.
I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.

Soooooo....Im in need of some RH power in my Seattle franchise and can get Thames out of my DH by dealing Noah Syndergaard (A potential and like a 71 overall at 20) for Carlos Quentin who has 2 more years on his deal and is a B potential and 30.

This is a good deal. Quentin is a good power hitter, but he can get on base well. Also, he is still in his prime so I would trade for him.

And also, it's completely up to you, but I would recommend upping your difficulty. Your lowest starter's average shouldn't be .298 38 games into the season.

Finished up my series with the Brewers. After they walked-off on game one, my bullpen surrendered another lead late in the game the night after. Now at 2-3, the final game saw Ian Kennedy against Yovanni Gallardo.

I scratched across a run in the second on an RBI groundout by Gerardo Parra. In the third, Aaron Hill hit a moonshot into "Toyota Territory" and just like that it was 2-0. Ian Kennedy had been cruising until the bottom of the fourth, when he gave up three runs including a home run by Ryan Braun. Blowing another lead against the Brewers didnt deter us though. Alfredo Marte led off the top of the fifth with his first major league home run, and Cliff Pennington followed with one of his own. Back-to-back jacks and we were in front again. But it's never as simple as that. Nochira Aoki replied with a solo shot of his own to tie it up at 4. Then the bullpens took over, and it started to look like a stalemate. But in the bottom of the eighth I put runners on the corners with no outs. Aaron Hill came up with a clutch single down the third base line. Wil Nieves added a pinch-hit RBI single, and Gerardo Parra hit a two-run homer in the 9th as we took a 9-4 win.

I was glad to be out of Milwaukee, especially without a losing record. That led me to the start of a homestand against the Pirates who were also 3-3. Trevor Cahill and A.J. Burnett matched each other stride for stride. By the time the eighth roller around, it had been handed over to the bullpens. The Pirates had two men on with two outs. I had Heath Bell on the mound and Garrett Jones stepped in. Jones fell down 0-2 before battling back to 3-2. Jones fouled off back to back fastballs above the zone but Bell came back with the high heat for the third time and Jones chased, ending the inning. After stranding two runners, I found myself with Aaron Hill on third and Eric Chavez on first. In stepped Alfredo Marte who had already been intentionally walked by Burnett earlier in the game and Charlie Morton decided to walk him again, loading the bases. Having struggled hitting w/RISP, I dropped down a bunt with A.J. Pollock, scoring Hill from third. J.J. Putz tossed a scoreless ninth and I'm back to a winning record.

Kansas City Royals - 2013 - May Update

                            Record - 26-28
4th place AL central (10 GB)

So we did a little better in May than April. Went 15-14. Starting pitching got a bit better. Bull pen a little worse. James Shields is still my best starter. 5-3 3.11. Aaron Crow is my best reliever with a 1.25 era through 25.1 innings. I sent Ervin Santana down to AAA and called up Luis Mendoza. He is 2-4 with a 5.94. No one is doing anything good in AAA so he will be sticking around for a while. Santana is complete s**t. No wins in AAA. ERA over 6. Looking to trade him. My best hitter is Alex Gordon. .303 AVG, 10HR. Jarrod Dyson and Jeff Francoeur are still over .315 splitting time in RF. Frenchy has 9 home runs on 35 hits.

June has us playing 16 division games. 13 are against Detroit, Minnesota, and Chicago. All of them are ahead of us in the standings. If we get a little more production from the starters i think we can make a good push towards the wildcard. Ill update in a bit with how my draft goes.

Started a franchise today with the Reds osfmv2. Beat the Angles opening day 1-0. Cueto went 7 innings giving up 2 hits. Chapman had a scare in the ninth man on 1st and 3rd no outs but battled through it for his first save. Angels had 4 hits on the day Pujols 2 of them. Weaver went 7 innings giving up 1 run with 9ks.

Made it to the AS Break in my Mets Franchise. Have d'Arnaud and Wheeler both up and doing quite well for their first year. Ike Davis just won the HR derby, and Mike Napoli leads the majors in HR's at the break with a whopping 35! Crazy year for power I tell you!
