Though the issue is, if you play 3+ seaons and almost every game (like me) the commentary gets old. And I think I like feeling like i am an actually MLB player (AA stadiums are not that loud, but yankee stadium is very loud) and If they left it out entirly (the commentary) people would be complaining that they cant even hear commentary about their own player, its a no win- no win for them

I never stop being amazed at the little things that I could not care less about that some other guy views as a complete deal breaker. And you know what? I like it. I like that some other dude is obsessed about how accurate the Pujols swing is or if the coke bottle is at the right angle. I like that people here even notice the details (no matter what side of the issue they are on) and voice their opinion about it.
Yeah we are the minority, but I think we are the ones that notice and care about these things. I think the hardcore Show fans should express their opinion, whatever it is. I don't think most people who buy the Show this year will really care about the presentation aspects of RTTS. They'll just play it and have fun. And we'll have fun too, while expressing our preference for what we each like. Both approaches work.
SCEA will look out to grab a wider audience and sell more copies and we'll be here to protect the territory that we have and have the game grow in the ways that we want. The hardcore are a very important part of the Show ecosystem. And we have all seen that in many ways, this game gives us all something to enjoy. We have Franchise, RTTS, DD, etc. Everyone here gets something different from this game. SCEA has made baseball be very enjoyable in a bunch of different ways for lots of different skill levels. Some of us are just taking what we've been conditioned to by these awesome developers (having lots of choices) and stating that it would be cool to have some control over this presentation aspect.Comment

Never ceases to amaze me how spoiled we are by them with all the options yet we still see complaints. They wanted to change up the mode and that's what they did, they gave none of us any false assumptions of the ability to turn on the commentary. Made no mention of it's ability to turn on or off thus you should have known it was not an option.
The reason is simple, it is because they want to make RTTS a separate experience from the other modes. If they include the option next year well that's great for you but it is not what they intend for the mode.Comment

Re: Change New RTTS Presentation
@ILikeToast
While some people complaining could use more tact and thus spare themselves for sounding like entitled complainers, ultimately all they are doing is expressing that they want the freedom to choose what they want in the presentation, which is the norm for so many other things in this great game. This is part of what happens on these forums. There are a ton of passionate nuts going back and forth.
I love RTTS. I love many if not most of the changes in this years version. It's a blast. I just want some commentary sometimes and no commentary other times. It's not a deal breaker. It's not me saying that SCEA sucks. It's not me flipping out in anger. It's just an opinion and something for the devs to think about.Comment

Re: Change New RTTS Presentation
I like the new presentation for RTTS. It kinda feels like you are on the field. But, I agree that they should make it possible to change back to the old presentation for the people who want it.Comment

Lmao @ all the whining in this thread. Guess what, gents, the world doesn't revolve around you. People whined about the commentary, THEY WHINED ABOUT RTTS STARTING TO BECOME STALE, SCEA makes a change that actually makes a mode designed to be fantasy for people who never had the chance to play at that level actually more realistic of a presentation, and boom, wah wah wah.
The new commentary or lack thereof in this mode is fantastic. Thank you Scea, looking forward to even more improvements that help w the immersion.

Re: Change New RTTS Presentation
I don't get why people are arguing against people who want it to be a choice. If there was a choice, it doesn't harm the people who like it just the way it is now. It will make everyone happy. There is absolutely no downside in putting it as an option.
Granted it most likely will not happen this year, but we can voice our opinions so they may make it an option next year. There's just no reason to force it upon everyone regardless of what the devs think is "right". We pay for the game, the devs constantly ask us what we want in the game right here on this forum. Some of us are just voicing our displeasure hoping for a change next year. If you like how it is, that's fine. Don't try to convince me to like it.Comment

Re: Change New RTTS Presentation
I am with those saying it would be nice to have an option here having said that they have decided not to include that in the game. I love playing my RTTS and the more I am playing it without the commentary the more I enjoy it, at first it kinda of bugged me that it wasn't there but as I am getting more and more into my player it makes me realize I am really enjoying what they have done. Play a 50-100 games and you will think what is all the fuss about. I really now appreciate the effort they have gone to make it more life like and to give you a more personal feel about being in the game.Bottom line for me it I think its awesome way to play RTTS, JMHO.Last edited by BSUFAN; 03-07-2013, 01:13 AM.When you come to a fork in the road, take it..... Re: Change New RTTS Presentation
I use to be able to invoke this mode last year, no commentary, just field sounds and PA. Leave MLB 12 on pause for like a day and when you unpause and start playing it usually doesnt have commentary. It always through me but you could just turn the commentary off with similar affect in previous years. It does seem a little out place hearing some commentary. i was also one of those that didnt mind the commentary. I always assumed it would progress and it did in my eyes. I like RTTS because Im one player. If franchise had the option to play as one player Id play that. Or be the catcher instead of the pitcher in franchise. Players that were RTTS, allstar and below that used 1/4 guess pitch is kinda bummed. Im sure most things can be "fixed" with sliders and rerating or whatever, but we have no option to have full commentary. I wont whine about it but did feel the need to voice the concern. They do a great job and Ive always been behind them doing their own thing and we will play what they give us at this point. Theres lots to like but its ok if we dont like eeevverythingComment

Re: Change New RTTS Presentation
At first i thought that it was a great idea to feel more immersed in RTTS but... I can't really see a big difference in the sounds around me vs past years, as in the past you could also hear the public, etc, while i miss the commentary.
It should be optional, just an ON/OFF switch and everybody would be happy.Comment

Re: Change New RTTS Presentation
I also need to take a moment to address the "already too many option" comment made by Russell. I'm sure it was an innocent comment, but don't put that on me the consumer. I'm not the one creating new ways to catch a ball. I was offended by the insinuation that it is somehow our fault that there are "too many options" in the game.
He isn't "putting it on you", what he's saying is just cause there are so many other customizable options for the game doesn't mean everything will be customizable.
As a dev team, they did what they felt made the game better (which it does by the way). So if you get upset, i'm sure they'll take it because there is 20+ more people out there who like it to the 1 who doesn't. So of course they want to please a majority of their fan base... which they have.Beavers|Red Sox|Buccaneers|NBA HoopsComment

Re: Change New RTTS Presentation
To me it just feels like a cheap shortcut they took. No one was asking for commentary removed, what people wanted was revamped, improved commentary, much like the 2k series.
People have been complaining about the commentary for years, and this feels as if they are just testing the waters to see how far they can push it before just scrapping the audio completely.
Really, what is there to like about hearing your fielders yell "c'mon, let's get his guy," "pull two here," "get 'em" ad nauseum? Couple that with the very unrealistic zooming/swoosh, and you just have a very unplayable mode.Changes could be made, they just won't be. That's a sad thought considering that SCEA has always been great about hearing out their consumers... maybe that "Highest Rated Sports Game for the Past 4 Years" they love enough to put on their box art, is starting to go to their heads.Beavers|Red Sox|Buccaneers|NBA HoopsComment
