This isnt how a situation like that would work for a baserunner in real life though, at least not a skilled baserunner. When you are on 2nd base and take off for third you swing out a little and approach 3rd at an angle so you can either stop if your base coach tells you to or hit the bag with your right foot and head on home. you NEVER slow down coming to the base if you are being waved home. When I was running from 2nd and my base coach was waving me home I never slowed down coming towards 3rd and then hit the bag accelerated back to full speed once I passed 3rd base.

You slow down if it's obvious that 3rd base is your final destination. Which would be the only situation where you aren't holding down the L1 button to advance your runner further.

In all other cases, just hold down the button until you're sure the runner should stop.

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third

I have seen this in RTTS almost every time where I am only controlling my guy. If I am at first or second, I slow down rounding third when trying to score on an extra base hit. I can clearly see that as I round 3rd, I physically slow down on the wide turn. All I am doing is holding up on the left stick to continue running. I thought it was my Base Running Ability which was at around 45ish, so I've tried to spend some points on it. Maybe it's not my stats.

I don't understand how Russell's comment can also impact RTTS when all I do in RTTS is hold up on the left stick to keep running. I am going to try L2+X (or was it L2+Triangle?) to automatically advance to home and continue to raise my Base Running Ability to see if it helps.

Exactly, with the change we'll have to adjust to this and have a mentality more like "Hit to the outfield, try to score...ok nope, stop!" instead of "Hit to the outfield, is it deep enough...ok go, go!" The baserunner will already be in his slow down half way animation routine by the time you decide to go.

                  Lol yep.
Gotta love that 3rd base coach giving the stop sign only for you to ignore it and get gunned down at home.

It was a solid base hit the coach should have been waiving me home.. I use the base running where you can preload the base you want to run to

The runner was on 2nd and trying to score on a base hit

Also, I did not see where the hit was in the outfield but it does not mean an automatic run, depends who is running and who is throwing. Do you take extra steps when leading off second, it does help.

I use classic base running. Can anyone tell me when I have a first and third situation how I steal the runner from first ONLY?

This is definitely not the kind of slowdown I have seen, that runner only slowed down slightly around the bag.

Don't know for Classic, but for Default you hold the left-analog stick to the right (in the direction of first base) and you press the steal button (L2).
