That's pretty tough to do when I'm following the track of the ball and then have to do the button presses the send him home (L-stick up and then x). Is there a quicker way to send him home?
No, the preload to home is the most seamless option. With that said though I have been paying a lot attention to runners rounding third after so many people feel there is an issue and I would have to agree there is a little funk going on there. It is definitely more pronounced with slower runners than your quicker ones. When it triggers as designed it is really a nice addition but something is definitely off at times in that situation.

Press circle button (this gives you control of the runner on 1st base). You can then lead off more and/or steal. Lead off using L1 and steal with L2.

Sorry, new at this. This is how you steal with just the runner on 1st using classic baserunning.

I also play with Auto base running and too many times does the slowdown around third either get the guy thrown out at home or he stops and goes back to third.

Yea, I've been using auto base running the last couple years...but I went back to controlling it because of this.

I've already stated this is several threads. That doesn't work. When you hit L2 all runners steal, not just the guy on first base.

check that thread out, it's kind of off topic for this thread anyway.

This rounding third lag thing has cost me so many runs already.

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third

I have decided to try something. While browsing through my Tigers roster, editing players, I noticed that the vast majority of players baserunning ability is rated EXTREMELY too low!!!!! I'm talking some players rated 2 or 3, and others 12 or 13. Way too low. I'm wondering if this has something to do with the slowdown problems we are having.

What I did is edit all my starters baserunning ability to 70 (with the exception of Austin Jackson, and Quintin Berry whom I gave 90, because they are both excellent baserunners). I also edited everyone's baserunning aggressiveness to 50, unless it was already that high, or higher. I'm gonna run with this for a few games, and see if If the slowdown decreases at all.

It's worth a shot. Maybe the issue is the poor baserunning ratings coupled with the new mechanics. Just thinking outloud.....

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third

I've seen it on doubles to the gap or down the line at first base. As soon as the ball is hit I hold, I think L1 right out of the box and he slows down rounding first. This is sometimes not always, same with rounding third.

I got the perfect video of the issue just now. You can see the runner is going fast and then a weird slowdown once he touches 3rd and then he speeds back up after,.

That is EXACTLY the issue. If that isn't a BUG, then I don't know what is. The runner NEVER, I repeat NEVER changes animation. He just simply slows down, like he is running in slow motion.

I could see if it was due to the new baserunning animations, when you make a late decision to go for an extra base, but this issue IS NOT that. The baserunners simply slow down, while staying in the same animation.

I only pitch and I never hit. I had trout try to throw out allen craig on a base hit down the LF line. the throw was off line to the left of the third base line, and craig was safe.

I think the pause is fine. In real life you have to pause a moment at third base because it is such an important base that leads to home plate. Some coaches have the runner at second base align himself vertically from the base so his momentum will not need to be halted so much as he rounds third base.

The timing from before the base to after the base is a bit slow. The runner should slow down a bit before and after touching third base, instead of looking like he is in quick-sand for a moment after he rounds third base.

Major league baserunners (except the terrible ones) are able to round the bases in stride, at FULL SPEED, no matter what base it is. For some reason, rounding third base makes baserunners run in slow motion. This has caused multiple runners to get throw out at home on base hits that they should have scored easily on. It's frustrating....
