Joe Buck is TERRIBLE. Whoever suggested he should replace Matt Vasgersian needs to shake themselves.
You are absolutely right! Matt is the best announcer I have ever heard on any video game.

Wether it was about the standings on the current season or out of town score board witch they took out this year or something like that. I am just very dissapointed in the way SECA handled the presentation this year.

Is that true, the standing/score OSD's are gone from franchise? Or am I misunderstanding?

I do like Matt, if changes ever happen, Brian Anderson (milwaukee one) is my favorite right now. Hey team up Brian Anderson of Milwaukees team with Brian Anderson of Tampa Bays team for some confusion :P

atleast that corpse dave cambell is gone, he always sounded totally wasted too, karros aint much better, but he dont say much. Harry carry woulda been the man to put in the show, and he was usually bombed by the 6th. They coulda had him slurrin his words, and getting counts wrong, thatd be realistic for sho. Vin scully too, thatd be good.

Cambell was waaaay better than Lyons. You could turn off Matt V. and Cambell could almost hold his own. Try that with Lyons, who says almost as little as Karros does.

But the biggest problem is that Lyons and Matt V. don't talk to one another, they just talk at the game.

Also, I don't understand why people say having the same play by play guy in the game for so long is getting old, while teams in real life have guys 20+ years in the booth?
Yeah but you don't hear the same lines from that voice for 20+ years like you would in video games. Also Hawk is a giant douche. And that's a bummer because I actually enjoy watching Sox games.

Bring back Vin Scully before he dies please.

Wouldn't mind the cubs tv crew do it too. They seem perfect for the pureness of baseball direction they go for on commentary.

                        Bingo.

Been the major problem for years with this games commentary, hopefully the PS4 capabilities mean this will go away in the years to come.

You will never get an announcing team that will satisfy everyone. Some guys think McCarver is great, others think he sucks (I'm one of the ones who thinks he sucks). IMHO, Matt is good. I always mute the other two. In the old days, when they played real baseball in the daytime, on real grass, and in open air stadiums, the classic radio broadcasts had lots of dead air, with no announcers filling your brain with worthless drivel. The play-byplay man could carry the whole broadcasting load. The dead air was great for listening to the ambient stadium sounds. When there were two announcers, each would broadcast half the game while the other was mostly silent. Mel Allen and Red Barber did it this way. I believe the best thing SCEA could do for the show is to hire voice actors to mimic the great announcers of the past. Just think how great it would be to listen to announcers who sounded like Harry Carey, Ernie Harwell, Milo Hamilton, Mel Allen, Red Barber, Phil Rizzuto, Russ Hodges, and all the other greats.

Therefore he was right in the same area as the studios. Not to mention he probably costs a lot less then if you were going to go after some of the bigger guys like the two you mentioned above. Quite honestly I think Joe Buck would be a complete waste of money.

In order for Baseball commentary to work you need two guys who interact back and forth with stories, experiences, player and team information, etc. That's really the only workaround for developing great Baseball commentary. It's the hardest sports game to develop commentary for because there isn't action every minute, so you need to fill the non action with exciting stories, stats, previous game information, etc. That's a lot of stuff to record and place in a game to make sure it's not too repetitive.
Good post bwiggy. Commentary would be greatly enhanced with the addition of relevant stats vetting the current status of the game.
