Re: The Dynamic Difficulty Discussion Thread

I finally got promoted to Allstar pitching! My profile says I've played 21 games but its said that forb a while now lol. I am on Veteran hitting and seem to be stabilizing there.

Last year I played HOF pitching and Vet hitting so I'm assuming I'll get promoted at pitching eventually. The problem is having to be up by three or more runs is hard cuz I'm not doing too well hitting using QC as opposed to last year when I produced realistic averages. Is there a way to look at by BA for my profile? I am guess it is low .200 honestly.

I think I'm going to do a test franchise now that I've stabilized a little bit. I'll post some stats after at least 20-25 games.

My slider changes are SP stamina to 7 (cuz of QC), foul freq to 3, fielder speed to 4, reaction to 6, and arm to 4 (always do these). Baserunner speed/steal ability at 6/7. Pickoff to 2, Pitcher control/consistency at 2/1 (always have done these). Fielding/throwing errors at 6/4 (always do these). And wind at 4.

Re: The Dynamic Difficulty Discussion Thread

Here is my experience with it. I started a season with DD and got off to what I felt was too good of a start (I think I was like 12-4 with the Brewers). So after about 16 games, I felt like the levels were starting to stabilize so I started over.

In my start over season with DD (I think I was at Veteran+ pitching and Hall of Fame hitting), I feel I'm getting good results. I'm still winning more games than I normally have with past versions of the game--but it isn't way out of whack (I think I'm like 20-12 or something along those lines). I'm currently at All Star+ for pitching and Hall of Fame for hitting (I've fluctuated with hitting from Veteran+ to Hall of Fame+ thru this season).

My stats are pretty decent I think. Batting average is perhaps a little too low but I went through a slump for a while at the plate so I don't think it is too far off.

My biggest problems are walks and strikeouts. I play with quick counts on. I by FAR lead the league in walks drawn. I also lead the league in strikeouts (though it is close and the Brewers have some strikeout guys so I'm ok with this stat). I have the same problem pitching. I lead the league in strikeouts and I lead the league in walks (it is close).

Other than the walks/strikeout issue, I feel the games are pretty good and I feel the stats are ok (I think my very high walk total is what is contributing towards some of the issues because it inflates my on base percentage to #2 in the league despite a low batting average).

So, I'm not sure if my problem lies in dynamic difficulty or quick counts. I think it is probably quick counts since I tend to stay somewhat close in difficulty (like I said, I've never fluctuated more than a total of 1 full level in this start over season if you count each "+" as a half level). I'll have to play with some sliders to see if I can figure out a way to lower all the walks I'm drawing because I definitely prefer to play with quick counts.

I have a feeling that for me, dynamic difficulty works great but that quick counts are causing my stats to be a bit out of whack.

So if anyone knows of a good way to have pitchers produce less walks using quick counts, let me know.

I'm also leading the league in walks and strikeouts on both sides.

As NYY I'm actually fine with that but it's QC's causing this.

The patch ought to tidy this up though.

Consistency is the best slider to raise in order to reduce walks (IMO) while we wait for the update.

Re: The Dynamic Difficulty Discussion Thread

I'm back to trying the DD because I cannot hit this year. Last year I was on default HoF hitting and this year I was using AS with sliders in my favor and I still could not hit. My biggest issue with the DD was the ball/strike ratios I was seeing because I assume the other stats will eventually balance themselves out. So I've made some tweaks to control/consistency/strike freq (all to 4) to see what kind of results I get. I played 2 games and won 6-0 and 12-3 but I'm liking the ratios so far. I'll post some results once I have more of a sample size.

What is the real difference between the difficulty levels?
I hear so many people say they can't hit but theyre playing on HoF difficulty. I play on Veteran hitting and never really played much higher.
With other games the harder the difficulty the harder it is to "beat the bossman" or "win the race" but...
With The Show do pitchers paint the corners more on a higher difficulty?
Do they throw less strikes? or throw faster?
Would just like to know what the difference is since I've never experienced it. Thanks

I might try DD when I get 14 on PS4.

Currently playing RTTS on MLB 13 and I am on Legend hitting with 7 pitch speed. I put down the CPU pitching accuracy a nod and it seems to be pretty realistic. It is very challenging though, but if I feel if I go any lower it becomes too easy so DD might help me.

Yeah QC definitely causing the high walks and strikeouts. The last game I played I drew 9 walks. I only struck out 3 times...started using contact swing when down 0-2 or 1-2 to help that. I ended up winning 20-3 final score in the largest blowout ever for me lol.

I hope the patch fixes this cuz I can't imagine playing without QC on now!

Has anyone been demoted from Rookie+? Because I just was after 6 games. Using timing hitting and I can't buy a string of hits. I'm not striking out much and I'm walking plenty.. it just seems every ball I square up is right at someone.

I never abuse contact swing. I only use it in 0-2 counts and 1-2 counts. And generally (not always) don't use it with power hitters. The bonus to contact is pretty large it seems.

Yeah I only use it on 0-2 or 1-2 counts too. Typically I found the cpu with throw a ball on 1-2 a good 75-80% anyway lol

My experience with moving up and down levels is that it determines your room for error. For example, if you use analog hitting on HoF it is more difficult to get a good stride and solid timing than on Veteran. Same goes for pitching, you will miss your spot more often and the cpu will take advantage of it more as you move up. For some reason this year I cannot hit very well which is why I've started using DD.

You could try lowering Hum Solid Hits to 4.

The biggest difference is really just pitching strategy.

The cpu attacks the corners constantly with almost all of the few pitches you get over the plate are mistakes. While lower difficulties they will actually aim pitches over the plate.

They also hit the corners a lot more which means you're just as likely to watch strike three as swing and miss at it which dramatically raises the difficulty. However they can't paint all the time which leads to much more realistic walk totals.

I have been a die hard all-star player for pretty much ever but after promoting to HOF using DD I've fell in love with it and although I'm no longer using DD (in franchise anyway) a few slider tweaks and I'm still using HOF.

P.S. Quick Counts is the greatest baseball game addition ever! Check out my sliders if anyone gets a change could use help nailing them down!

What attributes cause pitching to bump up? I'm dominating the CPU but after 7 games I'm still at Veteran with ++++ progress. I think with these stats I would be a little higher up.
