Hitting has been much more of a challenge, however. The scores of the games were 4-3, 2-1, 2-0, 4-3 and 5-0. Because the games have all been close, this has created the problem of not leveling up in pitching and down in hitting, which is what should be happening, because of the stupid rule that you have to be up/down by 3 runs for a promotion/demotion.

So what should I do? Should I just trust that the system will eventually work and begin to adjust? Any changes in my approach that I should take to kind of help it along? I'm just worried I'm just worried I'll keep playing in close, low-scoring games and nothing will happen, and I don't want that.
I'd say give it all of Spring Training to give DD a decent sample size to adjust. If it turns out that DD didn't work for you, you can always go back to the settings you were using before for when the season starts.

Not bad advice. Anyone else have any thoughts?

If you feel like you really "need" a bumping the pitching difficulty, take your DD profile into some exhibition games.

Use a team other than HOU! LOL!

On the last page I mentioned a trick to change levels quickly. Check it out if need be.

I'm having a hard time progressing in pitching (Classic). I've struck out the side, held the CPU to zero runs across multiple innings and yet, my progress seems stuck on Rookie +. The stranger thing is that in some of those K the side innings, the next time I take the mound, Progress reads -. You'd think 3-straight K's would warrant a +, no?

Hitting, meanwhile, seems to be adjusting just fine.

            Hey DJ:

How many games have you played?

I also play with Classic and it took a handful to get from Rookie to Vet / another handful to get to Vet + / another handful to get to AS / just got to HOF 20-25 total...

Throughout, I wasn't overall dominant..pretty much "stat average", etc.

              About 10 on the PS3.

I am on All-Star with pitching on the Vita.

Based off my experience with this, you seem pretty close to on target...

Well, as long as you hit Veteran in the next few games...

                Interesting...

Like King said, you'll get there around the 25-game mark. I'm at about 35 games in my SF franchise and I'm currently pitching on Legend. If you keep pitching well, you'll definitely level up, but my experience is that it takes a little longer to find the sweet spot with pitching than with hitting. I've been hovering around Veteran for some time now hitting the ball, but it's taken lots of games to get up to where pitching is a consistent challenge.

Stick with it if you can! DD will take good care of you over the long haul if you have the patience to let the game settle in on your true levels.

Oh, I'm definitely sticking with DD. Great addition, along with QC. Just found it odd that my pitching seemed to progress faster on the Vita than the PS3 version. I'm pitching on All-Star on the Vita, and seemed to get there pretty quick.

                      The Dynamic Difficulty Discussion Thread

Does Dynamic Difficulty eventually find a sweet spot or does it always move up and down? Not sure I want to keep rolling with it or switch to Vet hitting and All Star pitching

Edit: Nevermind. Just read a few replies ahead of mine.

So weird. I created two fantasy drafts will pretty damn good lineups and couldn't hit or score for nothing. I started a season with the Rangers and I am scoring and hitting at will.

I guess that's just the way baseball go.

Re: The Dynamic Difficulty Discussion Thread

Still rolling with Dynamic Difficulty and am having an absolute blast with MLB 14 The Show. I'm playing Season Mode with the Baltimore Orioles. Record is 22-16, five games behind the ridiculously hot Toronto Blue Jays.

The Orioles are loaded offensively. Very rare for all the big boppers to be slumping at the same time. Crush Davis has 14 HRs already this year. Cruz, Hardy and Jones have 8 apiece. Team average is .268. Pitching has been a mix of really good and really bad, which is pretty accurate for Baltimore. ERA is hovering around 4.30.

Right now (I play mostly on Vita) I'm at Hall of Fame for pitching (classic) and All-Star for hitting (timing). On the PS3 I believe I'm All-Star for pitching (classic) and Veteran+ for hitting (timing).
