Re: The Dynamic Difficulty Discussion Thread

Great tip, Heroes. I'm going to be patient, then, as this year's features are probably giving me more realistic innings than years past. Because it's actually the case that starters labor and have a hard time getting through 5, but last year that NEVER happened because I never walked guys unintentionally.

Bcruise, I agree that the HR are totally there. I belted one with Callaspo on a contact swing, lol. I was like what, that can happen?

Bcruise, how's your batting average through the same stretch?

If you're putting 5 more balls in play per game, and not seeing an increase in batting average, that definitely says there's a lot of bad luck going on in the BABIP department.

Like I was saying to you earlier via PM, I'm a huge stickler for a realistic K/BB ratio. Both for Human and CPU. I'd do the same if I were you.

Are you still at 10 on the pitch speed slider?

I know right? When Ben Revere hits one on a contact swing I'll start worrying.

.273, tied for 8th in the league. So yeah, that's pretty awful BABIP luck considering the lack of K's. I should probably be leading the league by a wide margin with better BABIP.

It's weird how that one change can affect the dynamics of the hitting so strongly. But if it's the only way for me to get the right walk totals, I can't NOT use the contact swing at two strikes. The Power thing was my only concern, but no longer - I really only needed to see one HR with my own eyes to know it can happen.

Went back to the regular pitch speed - I decided I really don't want to tweak the sliders while I'm doing all this. Still want to find a good base first.

Re: The Dynamic Difficulty Discussion Thread

I gave this a try, I am usually an All-star batting and defense player but I wanted to see just how "dynamic" this feature was and I came away not impressed. It was way to easy and took the challenge away to the point that I didn't want to play the game any longer. One thing I give this game is at the All-star level it's challenging. I love challenge in video games because it goes against my thought that things are scripted. I know people said there wasn't a comeback code and I think the developers said their wasn't but I'm sorry I just don't believe that. I don't want to get off topic but I couldn't keep playing with this feature. I'm glad other enjoy it but it just wasn't for me. I heard someone talk about the graduation of this and I don't see what the point of this feature. I mean will you play 100 games and still be at the same point or what. I have gone back to all-star hitting and pitching and custom sliders and am back to the challenge.

So, after starting fresh on DD (and playing a Spring this time), I just promoted up from Rookie+ to AllStar in...well, it's officially 2 games because the Royals haven't recorded an out in the third one. Here's the third game (on Veteran+) so far:

              Castro: BB
              Valbuena: 2 Run HR
              Rizzo: 2B
              Schierholtz: 2 Run HR
              Lake: HR

Following that I got the AllStar promotion notice.

I had to double check and make sure the sliders were on default. And pick my jaw up off the floor. I expected blowouts at least until AllStar, but not 3 straight games of promoting before the 5th inning.

This is going to be interesting in the 4th game. AllStar+ and HOF may be waiting for me.

Man, I feel pretty sucky by comparison, lol. I'm still at Rookie + to Rookie ++ on hitting and up to Veteran +++ for pitching, and I'm a game under .500. With the A's, who aren't hard up for talent on either side of things.

Does DD save and progress properly in all of the game modes?

For example, if I use DD for a Show Live game, will it then carry over if I play an exhibition or franchise game afterwards?

Yes, as long as you're using the same user profile for both modes. Just make sure the profile's selected on the team select screen.

Might have missed it in the thread, but what stats does the mode drive you to? With DD are you going to be a .270 hitter when it plateaus?

That's a good question. Surely there is an equilibrium that the game is trying to reach with the player. I could be completely wrong, but it would seem like something close to league average would make sense.

So on the hitting side, that would be something around .255/.320/.400

That would seem ideal to me, but maybe they want the user to be better than league average.

My only beef with this mode still, is that it's just too easy to make contact. This is affecting my walk total quite drastically at the plate, and when I'm pitching, I feel as though I have to "force" a walk now and then.

I'm hovering around Veteran+ through 4 games...4-0 and I think my team has struck out 6 times total with like 4 walks. I've scored 17, 12, and 9 runs, and then won 2-0.

ok…i am working through DD. Lets say I get to say I level out to high All-Star my May. btw right now…I am not doing a season, just post-season…waiting for OSFM rosters.

Then the OSFM rosters come out in May and the PS4 version drops. When I switch over to PS4 will I be able to pick up DD at All-Star or am I starting from scratch

Check my stats posts out. Much more common for me are games like this: on the low end, 2 BB and 6 K; on the high end, 5-6 BB and 9 K. I'm still getting all the whiffs one could desire, and I'm not walking 6 times a game. I've had 3 games with 6 BB I think, in 20 tests, but the average is about 4 and I'd say the average Ks are between 6-8.

Scores-wise, over 20 games, I've had 3-4 high-scoring offensive games but most have been between 0-5 runs.

That's just my experience, but you may be lots better than me.
