Hey Knight, who can we look forward to getting next?

I got in a game last night with the '89 Cubs and '82 Angels. I was pretty sleepy and nodded off a couple times. I know it cost me at least one out, as I nodded off with 2 strikes on Ryno and he struck out. Anyway, the Angels knocked me around pretty good. I ended up losing 10-2 as they hit 3 HR's; 2-run shots by Reggie and Freddy and a monster solo shot by Downing. Pics...

          1) A hard shot down the line that DeCinces couldn't quite get to.

          2) Not something you want to see from the opposing side.

          3) Carew has hops, but the ball bounced off his glove for a Mark Grace single.

          4) Downing crushes one.

            matt...that happens with retired numbers.
You can get them to work for exhibition games...but you have to send the player down to AAA.....go into the editor.....edit his number(twice...once to something else....then back to his real number)...save it...and don't go back into the editor. Now send him back up to the MLB and you can't go into the editor. His retired # will show up in exhibition games. Franchise/season....it won't.

Guys..I will definitely go with either the '90 or '91 Rangers.

Joey....So far...that's my favorite matchup! I've already played against each St. Louis starting pitcher. Just awesome. Tudor can be very tough as you saw!......and seriously.....they are so distracting on the basepaths that it does effect your pitching. More FB's.....it makes a big difference in strategy.

                  Huck
                  Thanks!
Brett is an unbelievable player with those '85 stats! Very tough at the plate....but the A's are a tough lineup too. Heck, they had Conseco pretty much as a pinch hitter! As Soup likes to say...don't sleep on Henderson....it's nice to have this guy hitting out of the 6 spot!

Okay...we've decided on an earlier team for the Rangers.
Are we rolling with the '62 Giants? ...Mays...the Alou brothers....Cepeda.......McCovey and the great Juan Marichal or the '89 squad?.....It would be nice to have a team close to the '61 Yankees to play!

                  Thanks again guys!

Knight, great job on these...a quick question/suggestion regarding the 82 Brewers - if you haven't already, check out Daniel Okrent's book 'Nine Innings'...it basically examines the history of baseball through one team in one season - a great deal of info on 'Harvey's Wallbangers' in there.

I apologize if this was already mentioned previously.........

Oh yeah, I searched this thread and found where Knight explains how he arrived at the attributes for the players. That's what I thought he said he used (OOTP 9) as I had read it before but forgot.

                          Another great game

I figure I will post one more write up. I just played another great extra innings game. A's (me) vs. Angels Sorry about the music in the youtube clips, for some reason the game was still playing my custom soundtrack.

It was a tight, low scoring game (1-1) through 7 innings. In the top of the eighth inning, Rickey Henderson hit a one out triple. So I figured, in an ode to classic baseball, I should put the squeeze on. Here is what happened.

Perfect Execution. Then , just when I thought I had it won, I killed my self with the screen of doom as I like to call it.

Oh no! Sure enough, he blew the save (again!), and we went into ten, where Reggie Jackson ended the game. (Off to the doghouse with Eckersly)

Why! Oh well, it was a great game. Here is Jackson's player of the game page.

Also, I don't get why Eckersly is so bad for me. He is the best player on the A's, but he is 0-3 in terms of saves.

Nice vids. Looks like Reggie had a heck of a game. You definitely can't put one in his zone because he can really jack 'em. I need to start posting a video here and there. I saved one last night that was just crazy. It was a grounder that hit the mound and bounced probably 80-100' in the air and my CF took it on the short-hop. It was kind of bizarre. Anyway, I haven't linked a video before so I'll have to make sure I can do it.

Thanks. It really isn't that hard to get the video from the PS3 to the computer. I just recently started doing it. Embedding it is a different story, as it is giving me a hard time lately. It works fine in other threads though. Did capa maybe disable something?

That's crazy about the mound thing. I always find those kinds of glitches comical
