    Re: Knight - classic teams

Okay guys...you guys are checking out the Cubs the same time as me.
I JUST finished them...so I didn't see them at all yet.
This file has the '82 Angels and '89 Cubs added.
I didn't get to fix the numbers on the Cubs yet...but I will do it for the next update!

    Halfway there!
Enjoy and I welcome any feedback!

    Thanks.

Knight, you are my hero. Thank you a thousand times for all of the blood, sweat, and tears you are putting into this. Also please know: Without you, this game just wouldn't be the same.

Knight, how many more teams do you have left and are you doing the roster by yourself. Just wondering if the file was going back and forth if you are getting help. Thanks.

Knight, thanks for the update. I've been looking forward to the Cubbies! Although I relate to the 80's teams the most, I'd still enjoy the older teams as well. Baseball probably takes up 80% or better of my gaming, so bring them on.

Idesign, thanks for the vids. I enjoy looking at all things related to this roster set.

gtm, the Cubs and Angels file Knight released a couple posts ago makes 15. I about forgot your other question; Knight is doing all of these himself.

            Thanks whitesox....
I do it because I enjoy playing the game with historical teams the most.
It's funny....but I most enjoy managing/GM'ing the game with the minor league players.....trying to pick out some good ones and build a team that I can guide to a championship....but mainly focusing on the minor leagues.....and then on the other hand I like the historical sets.
The current MLB players and teams hold the LEAST of my attention.

            Anyway....

            idesign....nice videos..thanks.
I really hope to make a nice clip like I have in previous years. With the new options(uni/acc) it should look great!

gtm...like Joey said, I'm working on this alone. Having another set of hands really wouldn't speed up the process. If SCEA eventually would let us import either teams or CAP's...then hell yeah that would help.
As it stands now....I've gotten pretty fast at creating players. I can probably create 40 in one sitting. That's a lot.

I didn't get a full game in last night(it was LATE!....the wife is going to start to question whether I'm really making rosters at that time.... )...but I did get in about 5 innings. Sutcliffe vs. Darling. A homerun by Kevin Mitchell(I usually only play him when a lefty starts...but I was mixing it up) was the only offense to that point.
I threw in a little funny with Sutcliffe that I hope Cub fans enjoy.

So how many people will be playing a season with these once they're released? And if so, what team are you going with? I'm going to have to go with the '86 Mets, as that was my favorite team growing up. I was 11 that season and it's the first one I have vivid memories of. Obviously we've all seen it played out time and again, but I remember exactly where I was when that ball dribbled through Buckner's legs. Definitely going with the Mets. Anybody else?

I'll be playing a season, but I probably won't settle on one team and instead play assorted games throughout the season. I love seeing the different matchups and old uniforms. Sticking with one team only would be a little boring to me.

                  Re: Knight - classic teams

I have an idea, you should include a small readme file (saying which teams are done and what year they are) that comes with the PS3 folder. Not in it, but outside of it, so it is still easy to copy and install. After you make the first one, it would be easy to just update it.

This way it would be easier for everyone to know which teams are done, and it would also reduce the amount of questions about this. Again just a thought

Thanks. One of my few gripes about The Show this year is the inability to save replays from the same angles as the console uses to show game highlights. The "broadcast" angle for home runs is amazing, but unfortunately it's impossible to replicate it in the Replay Vault because of camera limitations. Would also love to have the ability to save the end-of-game highlight package to my hard drive.

I know that the SCEA devs really wanted to beef up the video replay/pic capture aspect of the game. If you think about it....it really is an amazing way to showcase the awesome graphics and I personally, love that kind of stuff. However, with consoles...there is a memory limitation. That's why the clips are "stunted".
I don't know if you guys saw the vids I made from the '07 version of the game(both of them "classic" vids)....but if they were able to let you do something like that, it would be phenomenal.(I still sneak a watch at those vids once in a while )
I'm surprised that you don't see more dynasty pages with The Show as the pics and replay aspect, really give it a nice feel. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it's in a separate forum. I'm going to suggest something to Millennium(and he can ask Steve) that I think might help. It's a truly underused feature(both with the game and O.S.) IMO.

10 and remember that series very well. I have the DVD
collection. Can't wait till you're done with all the teams
Knight to start a season against all those great classic
teams. Great work you do on these, very much appreciated.

I know what idesign means by saying he wants to play a season but without using a specific team. Don't get me wrong, I'll be playing other games here and there as I want to play some with each team (except the '91 Twins, grrr), but I have to have one specific team to follow throughout the season.

I watched the videos you did before, Knight. Are they still on YouTube? I may have to check them out again. I agree with the ease of running a dynasty page with this game. I may put one up when I begin my season with these, but I also agree with you that the fact they're located elsewhere probably deters a lot of people.

                              Re: Knight - classic teams

I noticed when playing as the Expos last night that some of the jersey numbers were off in-game. For example, Raines was #31 and Dawson was #11. When I exit the game and go into the roster control they show up correct, but during games the numbers were off by 1. Not sure why that would happen. I retried a couple of times and the same things kept happening.

Other than that, I love these. I still remember scanning baseball cards for hours when making all-time teams for HH 2002 on the PC. I know this must be taking you many, many hours, but we all really do appreciate the work you are putting into these. I'll play with these rosters more than the current ones.

If you need any help let me know. I have a lot of references like old cards, and books to help get things right. I even have a book in pitchers that does a fair job (there is no *great* reference that I can find) of identifying what pitches a pitcher threw.

I was just playing a great game. A's vs. Twins

I was down 2-0 from the top of the first, to the bottom of the ninth, where mark McGwire (I think that's how you spell it) hit a two RBI single to tie the game. In the top of the 11th, good ol' Kirby Puckett hit a double, and my shortstop, Mike Gallego, absolutely butchers the cutoff throw to third. It wasn't even close. Puckett to third. Next pitch was a pass ball, and Puckett scored on a very close play. I couldn't recover from that though, and lost 3-2 in 11 innings.
