      Re: Knight - classic teams

Great! Can't wait to try out the new teams! Thanks for incorporating some of my suggestions (keeps me from having to change them all over again with the new roster!). I noticed that my earlier suggestions weren't in there (Gooden-Halladay and Strawberry-Martin). These really are as close as you will find.

I'm gonna try Hernandez-Erstad in just a few minutes. Looks like it might be a decent fit.

Here are some more tweaks you might wish to try for some of the other teams:

Gary Carter - expos version needs I-Rod's batting stance (glad you fixed the uni number issue)
Andre Dawson - hard to match, but I'm using Tony Perez and it looks pretty good
Tim Raines - Wilson Betemit is a pretty good match (not quite crouched enough on back leg, but close)
George Foster - Mike Schmidt and BAT MUST BE BLACK!!
Pete Rose - Felipe Lopez (best crouched stance I can find right now)

As always, keep up the great work! Can't wait to see which teams you come out with next!

        Thanks capa.

        '71 Buccos next!

ledfut.....I just forgot about the other suggestions. I'll definitely get them in there. I played with the '86 Mets against the Royals last night and your suggestions looked great. Dykstra...perfect.
Any chance any of you guys remember if Ojeda had the 'stache in '86? I have him with it....but I can't remember for sure. I want to redo him anyway....I don't like the way he came out. In the editor....he looked good...but I'm not liking him in game.
George Brett is tough. I wish I had SCEA's full editor(although this one is probably pretty close). Those guys get to do some amazing stuff.
But my Lonnie Smith is pretty good and if you saw what I started Darryl Motley with...you'd laugh!

        Motown......I just might do a '90 Reds.
Last year I created a Sabo and I was wishing to have the goggles for him.....I got it this year.

I finally got to use the "half-bald"!!!!! Steve Balboni on the Royals!

        Thanks guys.....definitely more coming. Soon.

          Knight,

Is it fair to say that due to all the retired Yankee numbers there is no way to get Richardson (1) and Berra (8) to wear their correct numbers using the workaround method?

            Re: Knight - classic teams

Just played with the Royals. Excellent job!! Even before reading your last post, was coming back on here to say that Lonnie Smith and Steve Balboni look amazing!

I fiddled around with a few Royals stances. I am using Felipe Lopez for George Brett. I think Fred Lewis for Balboni is a very good match. And I changed Lonnie Smith to Mike Aviles (upright, slightly closed, minor bat waggle). Try these - I think they look pretty good.

Bobby Ojeda definitely had the stache in '86.

In season? No....it wont' do it.
              In exhibition....it will work
              I had them wearing them.
I think it "undoes" itself sometimes. It is the weirdest thing.
              Try this.
Send both of them down to AAA...and remove them from the 40 man roster.
Bring someone else up....in their place.
Go into the editor and just change their numbers and put them back.
Save it.(just the player....not the roster file)
Demote the other guys and then promote them.
              Save the roster file.
Play and exhibition and they should wear their number.

The only reason I'm using all "my" players and not the SCEA Legends is 1. their age...I'm making it specific to the year(not a big deal, I know) and 2. I'm sure by the time they were doing these guys...they were pressed for time and some of them got the quick treatment....I'm TRYING() to get them too look more like the real thing.(in my opinion their Yogi is off).
But you can always swap out theirs for mine....you do get some nice additions with theirs(some stat overlays...their name..why that's not in the editor, I have NO idea ....and their retired number.)

I've had every player at one point wearing their retired number...so it will work.

I HATE that they took out the work around this year.

                Re: Knight - classic teams

Reading this thread, I see some discussion regarding which Phillies team to do. The '93 team was about as fun and entertaing group of misfits as there ever was, and the '80 team was great, but my vote definitely goes to the 1977 Phillies:

                http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/PHI/1977.shtml

101 Wins (best ever for the Phillies). This would be a fun team to play with. Knight, I would love to see what you could do with Greg Luzinski! Schmidt and Luzinski in the middle of the lineup, Carlton, Christenson, Kaat, and Lonborg in the rotation, Tug McGraw, Ron Reed, and Gene Garber in the pen. In my opinion a far better team than either the '93 or '80 clubs.

One more vote here for the '90 Athletics!!

                http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/OAK/1990.shtml

That was some team! Henderson, Eckersley and Welch had career years. McGwire, Canseco, and Stewart all put up big numbers. No way they should have lost to the Reds (Believe it or not, I actually predicted the Reds would sweep the WS that year. My buddies all thought I was crazy. I don't know if I actually believed they would sweep, but I absolutely hated the A's and that's what I really wanted to see. Who would have ever thought...)

I am torn on my request for the Blue Jays. My first inclination would be to request the '93 team (WAMCO - White, Alomar, Molitor, Carter, Olerud) because of the WS, but the team I most associate with the Jays is the '85 team The group from '93 was only together for a relatively short time, whereas many of the players on the '85 team were together for most of the decade (Bell, Barfield, Moseby, Whitt, Fernandez, Stieb, Key, and Henke). When I think of the Blue Jays, these are the players I think of. I believe you had the '92 Jays in last year's version. It might be nice to have something different this year. So my vote is for the '85 Jays (besides, they won more games than either the '92 or '93 Jays WS teams).

I tried Erstad for Hernandez, but the stance is not closed enough and the hand position just isn't right. I am too picky with Hernandez as he is one of my all-time favorite players and I want him to look perfect. I have attached a screen capture from the '86 WS.

This might surprise you, but I tried Choo's stance and it is pretty damn close. Although Choo doesn't lean forward like Hernandez, the extended arms and high hands are right on, the stance is slightly closed, and the "shuffle" even kinda works (Hernandez always did a bit of a dance after twirling his bat a couple of times). I think Choo's stance works very well. I am happy with it. I went through every single stance twice and couldn't find anything better. Give it a try.

Once again, fabulous job on the Royals!!

One last suggestion for today - Danny Jackson had a real pronounced "drop and drive" in his delivery, so I am going with the most obvious example and using Tom Seaver's delivery.

Can't wait for your next update! Keep 'em coming!

The extended arms is the hardest! ARGH!!!
I too am picky about Mex!
ledfut...you've got a heck of a memory for some of this stuff. I try thinking back to those games and all I could think of is the hot girl at the bar(this was just before I got married)
But now that you said Seaver for Jackson....yes...it looks good!
ledfut....Steve Farr...he had that kind of leg and arm extended at the same time...the leg almost straight out...and then a pretty hard follow through. I know he's a "nobody"...but it bugs me a little. If you think of anyone who is like that.
I was also looking for someone who picks up the front foot for Strawberry..

It will be the '86 Astros...
It will be the '89 Cubs...
I was thinking of '01 on the Marlins...and '01 on the D-Backs...but whatever you choose Razr....it will be that!:winkI think I owe you one or two. )

Yeah, it must have reset on V8 for some reason. I fired up Yanks at Dodgers and Richardson was wearing 2 and Berra 9 (along with Maris). I don't know why SCEA even has this logic in the game but hopefully they remove it for next year. I see no reason for it at all unless MLB mandates they don't use retired numbers on active players, which I would highly doubt.
