That's my take on it, especially if you want to do a season or something.Comment

Re: Knight - classic teams
Every team should be the best in the history of that franchise. Some exceptions are bound to be made (too many Yankees teams, so he makes '27 one year and '61 the next). Still, the best Rockies team was their only pennant in 2007, and the best Rays team was their only pennant in 2008. For teams with only one pennant, it should be their pennant year.
That's my take on it, especially if you want to do a season or something.BCS Express - TCU (yr 1 12-1)(yr 2 10-2)
OsVets 1 - Texans
OSVets 2 - Raiders (9-7 afc west champs)
4th & 1 - 49ers
LOEG - Pittsburgh Penguins (11-8-4)Comment

Problem is Knight is the only guy willing to do this and it takes forever to create a roster since no pc interface. His patience and work ethic is legendary!

Re: Knight - classic teams
I had another good game last night. Finally got a chance to try out a couple new teams, so I used the '71 Bucs and took on the '63 Dodgers. I actually scored a run off of Koufax in the first (even though he struck me out FOUR times) and was thinking he wasn't going to be as hard to score off of as I thought he would be. Well that proved wrong, as that would be all he gave up. Sandy pitched 6.1 and gave up I believe 4 or 5 hits and had 9 K's. Frank Howard hit a solo shot off of Dock Ellis in the 5th and then the Dodgers scored a 2nd run in the 7th when Stargell tried to make a shoe string catch only to have it bounce off of his glove. So the Dodgers ended up winning 2-1. Oh yeah, as for the 4 K's in the 1st, after the Pirates had already scored what would prove to be their only run, Koufax struck out 2 on nasty curveballs that Roseboro couldn't handle - which ended up loading the bases. So the Pirates had 5 outs in the first inning and still could only muster 1 run.
Also played about 5 innings as the '85 Royals against the '91 Twins. Had to play this game as visitor so I could rock the powder blue jerseys. I took a couple of pics during the game of Brett and Puckett, but I didn't copy them onto my flash drive to post. May do that later.Comment

Re: Knight - classic teams
I would actually prefer the 68 Tigers over the 84 Tigers, but perhaps 68 is too long ago to spark interest. To me the 68 team had a more interesting cast of characters. The win loss records of the team for the two years are virtually identical. I can say that the 68 World Series was one of the most exciting and close as the 68 Cards had two future Hall of Fame players (Lou Brock and Bob Gibson). Al Kaline is also in the Hall of Fame. Two players from the 68 team have their jersey numbers retired: Willie Horton (23) and Al Kaline (6). None of the players from the 84 team have retired jerseys numbers.Comment

Re: Knight - classic teams
My PC was down for several days so i skimmed the thread quickly to get caught up and I have a couple of questions. Knight when you are through with the rosters will they be up on sports connect or just send space or both? Also Knight I know you have already tried to help me w/ this but Im a little slow. On the whole send space thing do I dl the program to unzip the file from my thumb drive to my PC or my PS3? I know that seems basic but I ve never really downloaded stuff before. All your teams seem excellent choices but I have to agree with an earlier post for the 77 phils plus the 80 stros just so we can have JR Richard.Comment

Re: Knight - classic teams
Hey guys.
I was at work....I had my PSP and no laptop...so I could see a couple of the posts...but I couldn't respond.
I see the '68/'84 quandary remains!
I'll definitely try and get some other teams(different years of teams) in when I complete it.
Joey......I'd love to see the pics!...and Koufax and that curve is maddening!
Working on the Braves now.

Re: Knight - classic teams
Dear Knight,
First, thank you for all your work on these rosters. I would see one of your biggest challenges dealing with the differences caused by changes in the baseball itself. In the 60s and earlier there were not as many home runs as the ball was not so lively. This kept batters statistics low, but helped pitchers.
Having put all the work into this roster, which is timeless, it would be great if this roster could be used for MLB10 and other future years of the game rather than having to redo it each year. Perhaps this is something SCEA could include or at least a feature that allows it to be "converted" to work with MLB10.
Thank you again for all your hard work.
