Re: Knight - classic teams
Knight - I just finished a game between the '65 Dodgers and '61 Yankees. What a game! Dodgers won 1-0 behind Koufax (Ford pitched valiantly, giving up only 3 hits, but one was a solo shot by Frank Howard).
Playing this game has made me reconsider. I am changing my vote for the Giants. As much as I would like to see Will Clark, Matt Williams, Rick Reuschel, etc. , this game NEEDS the '62 Giants! We have a trinity of teams here with a deep historical rivalry (Giants/Dodgers/Yankees) - all originally NY teams. I think it would be coolest to play out this rivalry with teams from the same era! Mantle vs Mays! Koufax vs Marichal!! History never really gave us the chance to see the BEST Yankees team vs the BEST Giants or Dodgers team in any given year. This would be our chance to pit the '62 Giants vs the '61 Yanks or the '65 Dodgers and see who could claim bragging rights!
The '89 Giants would be a good match for the '89 A's, but that is about it (in my opinion).
Lets go a bit further back in time! I agree that these rosters need a bit more representation from the '60s.

Re: Knight - classic teams
I think knight said that after this he might do some touch ups to the roster to make it all 50's-60's. Not sure though. Either way, I agree. Even though some of us like to play the '89 A's(me). I don't really care, I am enjoying these rosters so much! I haven't enjoyed the show this much in months.

Re: Knight - classic teams
Ledfut, you've about talked me into wanting the '62 Giants now. You're right in saying that the historical significance of these 3 teams can best be summed up during that time period (it's the '63 Dodgers, btw). As much as I'd like to see the '89 Giants, you can't beat a team with Mays, F. Alou and a young McCovey (not to mention Marichal). Plus that would give us more than two teams from that era, whereas we have plenty of teams to face off among each other in the 80's/90's era. (I guess you could include the Pirates and O's, as they're both early 70's.) But since some people are looking forward to the Bay Series, we may have to wait until Knight releases some older rosters after he finishes this set. Regardless of which year Knight does, I'm looking forward to the Giants!

Re: Knight - classic teams
Hey fellas.
Sorry for no updates in a couple.
I've been working on the draft prospects for the FullMinors(and I've been a little out of sorts...I got hurt and the meds are making me loopy!Too much time at the PC is making me dizzy.)
I've got to go to the medical office tomorrow and take care of some other stuff when I get home...so it might not be until Friday night until the next update..
...the '83 White Sox.
I will be GLAD to do the '62 Giants....
Heck...what I really want is the '55 Dodgers..the '51 Giants and the
'51 Yankees(Rizzuto...Dimaggio...Berra...Reynolds..Ras chi!)

Re: Knight - classic teams
Glad to see you're okay, Knight. Looking forward to the next update, but you've given us enough to keep me busy between now and then. Most of the teams I've only played with once or twice, anyway. After the White Sox how 'bout them Giants?

Okay fellas.
Gotta work tomorrow and Sunday....so the next update may be Sunday night or Monday.
Here is the file with the '85 Cardinals added.
They don't hit many homers, but if just about anyone except Jack Clark gets on base....it will drive you nuts as that little White Rat will eventually send them....to to bottom.
Tudor had a fantastic year....and you gotta hate any team with that Tommy Herr on them(ESPECIALLY an '85 team...ARRRRGGHH...the Mets downfall that year!)...

Have fun...let me know what you think!
Thanks!

Re: Knight - classic teams
What is this file called in the Roster Vault? I'm having trouble moving stuff from my flash device to my PS3 so until I figure it out I can only do the Roster Vault. I looked and didn't find anything with the name "Classic 13". The closest thing I saw was one called "Knight12" or something like that, so in the meantime I'll try that lol Thanks.
Yay! White Sox!Comment

Re: Knight - classic teams
Oh okay thanks. Those Ridin rosters I see in the vault, the ones with 300+ HOF players, are they comparable in quality to what Knight is doing? I mean not only in likeness but also with the accuracy of the attributes?Comment

Re: Knight - classic teams
Hmm I didn't even know about those. However, Knight is great at making CAPs, and I don;t see how his quality can be any lower than those.Last edited by Whitesox; 06-11-2009, 07:58 PM.Comment

Knight-
Hey I haven't downloaded these rosters so I don't know if you've done the Mariners yet. But if you haven't done the '01 M's, could I ask if you would do the 95 M's instead? For a long time Mariners fan the 95 team is far more sentimental being that it was our first year in the playoffs and it saved the team from moving to Tampa. I realize this is an awkward request and I don't wanna tell you what to do cause your such a roster saint but imo the 95 M's > 01 M's regardless of winning 116 games.Cosmetic Guides to the Show v2 Rosters
