    Re: Knight - classic teams

Unless he's changed plans, Knight will be doing teams from 1950-70 once he finishes this set. There are a few teams that already have a team from this era, so it should be fun seeing more. I just hope that Knight eventually takes some time to play the game. I sure don't want him to get burned out! (no pun intended, Knight)

I would love to play with the '27 Yankees, '19 White Sox, '30 A's, '16 Red Sox (with Babe Ruth on the mound), 1909 Pirates and Tigers (the epic meeting of Wagner and Cobb), Christy Mathewson's Giants, even the '40s Dodgers.

(I'm not requesting that you do these. Please don't take it that way. I appreciate all you've already done with this set of rosters. I was just wondering what you had planned after this, and was tossing out an idea)

      Okay, thanks for the info!
And yeah, I'm with you. I hope Knight actually gets to USE these rosters at sometime just for fun instead of using them just to see how things look. Can't wait for the rest of the project!

        Re: Knight - classic teams

Thanks, Knight! I fell asleep early last night so I now have 3 new teams to play with, as I was gone over the weekend and didn't get any game time in. Over the next day or two I'm going to try to get in '62 Giants-'61 Yankees, '95 Mariners-'95 Indians & '86 Astros-'86 Mets games. I'll report back as I get them in. I'm anxious to see how Randy does against that Indians lineup.

Any suggestions, as usual, would be greatly appreciated.

I fixed "fat" John Tudor and made him normal
I also fixed the '86 Met lineup! I'm so used to playing as them...I never noticed that against them Nails would often bat 2nd with Backman 1st...easy fix...and it's done.(I hope...I'll check later)

          Great suggestions ....
          Next up will be Toronto.
I'll give both the '85 and 90's teams a good look over before I decide.

          Thanks guys..

Back to work tomorrow!! so I won't get another in until Wednesday night/Thursday sometime...

Have fun in the meantime and keep the comments and game stories coming.
          We're almost there!

Damn!!! I'm off the computer for a couple of days. And you've added more!! Glad you picked the 86 Astros. The 86 season was
the pinnacle of being a baseball fan for me. Great to have Ryan
in the game alongside of Carlton, Koufax and Gooden.

I usually don't comment on your selections. But I'd love to see the 84 Padres. If for no other reason to include Steve Garvey. ESPN Classic had "Cheap Seats" reruns on last night and it was the Steve
Garvey "celebrity" fishing tournament. It's been a while since I'd seen that episode and it was pretty much the series' funniest episode.

                  Yes! Please.

Not much of a Ranger fan being near Seattle and all, but the 70's teams had some players I would like to use...Harrah, Fergie Jenkins, Hargrove, Bump Wills...etc.

Plus there would be a nicer amount of variety w/ another 70's squad!

                    Re: Knight - classic teams

Seeing as how the Rangers franchise has only been around since '61 (including when they were the Senators) and Knight is planning on doing a subset of teams from the 50's to 70's, I'm sure if he doesn't release one in the initial set he'll more than likely release one in that set. We shouldn't have any worries on variety once Knight is finished.

                      Re: Knight - classic teams

Well I had big plans last night; thinking I would play 2, maybe even 3 games. I could barely stay awake for one game. I must be getting old!

Played as the '62 Giants vs the '61 Yankees. Whitey Ford really shut me down, as he was throwing a perfect game until Boyer booted a grounder in I believe the 5th. The no-hit bid and shutout was broken up with one swing of the bat as Willie Mays crushed one with one out in the 7th. I ended up with only 2 hits and lost 7-1. The Mick had a 2 RBI triple when he hit one near the top of the right centerfield wall and it took a big bounce that Mays had to run down.

I'm going to try the Giants out again when I'm a little more awake. I've still got to try out the Mariners and Astros teams, as well.

Pic of Willie's HR. (Oh yeah, Knight, his # is still off.)

Finally got around to subscribing to YouTube so I could upload some videos. Here's a double play that Albert Belle hit into that starts when Shawon Dunston flips the ball to Ryno with his glove.

Yeah, Knight, to further what Joey was saying about Mays' number being off (which it's not for me..he's 24 for me everytime!), but I've noticed that for the Cubs, Ryno is # 25 rather than 23, and with the Yankees, both Maris and Berra are # 9. Not sure if there are any others (none that come to mind immediately). Haven't used every team yet, so I'll get back to you with any more (and actually haven't used the newest release, so ignore this if you've already fixed the ones I mentioned.

Just to let you guys know its the retire numbers from the teams..SCEA put that in so you can't use say 24 for Mays cause the Giants have that number retired...same for Sandberg....you have to do the work around that only works for exhibition games not for the season or franchise...I am not sure what the work around is off the top of my head if some one want to post that it would be great....

This is what I get for putting long hours on the Submarine you add more teams on me...sweet...that means I can bring these new teams down to the boat...the Baseball league on the sub is looking great, we are already having fun with these roster on duty days...the Crews Mess is filled with guys just to watch the games..its so cool....Keep it up Knight...

Hey, tonyfire. Yeah, I'm aware of the retired numbers. I was just letting Knight know that Mays was showing up as 25 because he usually likes to go in and fix them before he releases the next file.

Definitely let me know if anything is off(if you see it...it doesn't matter what or when).....I write them down on a little "punch list".
The numbers are a pain ...

I'm working on the Blue Jays now....I hope nobody minds....but I went with '92 instead of '85. Carter...Olerud...CANDY!

I'll definitely have them up sometime tomorrow either in the late afternoon or early in the night. I've got the starting nine....the relief corps and one starting pitcher done. Should be quick.

                                Then I'm onto Florida(the team.....not the state)....and I'll go with '97.

Tony.....good to hear you and the guys are having fun. Sounds a lot like the firehouse...hooting and hollerin' on the down time(but you were a fireman...so you already know the deal.)

Should have this set squared away pretty soon!
