    Re: Knight - classic teams

    Dear Knight,
First thank you for all your work on these rosters. I use v5s and love it. I cannot wait until the Classic roster is done.

I have a basic question which I know you can easily answer. Please excuse if this is not the best place to post the question.

When you create a pitcher is the speed for a pitch the maximum speed for that pitch? Can the pitcher once in a while throw faster than that speed?

If you do in the future decide to do the 1968 Tigers I will be glad to pass along information as I have two books on the team.

    Thank you.

      Thanks Karle;

Pitch speeds....no....there is a 3 mph swing(in both directions), so yes he will(may) pitch higher than the "posted" speed. I think I have Nolan Ryan at 97...but he will hit 100 occasionally.
If you set it to 99(the top of the clicks...you will notice there are a few clicks on each speed)....you can hit 102 with a pitcher.

Pitch speeds are the most difficult to find on historical pitchers.
When I do the '50-'75 set(it will be the '68 Tigers) I will take any info you have.
      Thank you.

        Dear Knight,

        Thanks for the quick reply.

I will start putting together the information on 68.

One other thing, Knight. I was looking at Shawon Dunston last night and was thinking about his arm strength. I believe you have it set at 74, but I remember how strong his arm was. In fact, I believe at one point the general consensus was that he had the best arm on the team, including the pitchers. He wasn't the most accurate, but he did have a cannon. I'm thinking about bumping it up, what do you think?

            You're right.
Come to think of it...that was one thing he was noted for.
He should get a good boost at that.
I'll take care of it tonight.
            Thanks!

I too am a big fan of the "ugly" uni's !

              Joey....great pics and vids. Thanks!
...and thank you about Martinez(Edgar and Tino).....I did try especially hard to get them right. Edgar came out excellent(IMO)...

I will take any and all suggestions on stances and motions.
To me...that's the most difficult thing.
Last night I changed Dave Winfield(2...Cleve and Tor) from Jose Hernandez to Robin Yount. What do you guys think of that?
Also....Jack Morris....did we come up with a motion for him?.....
...and finally.....there is one pitcher on Toronto...it's one of the relief guys for sure that brings his leg up(the bent knee) almost even with his head....anything like that in the selections?

Thanks guys.....I'll definitely have Toronto up for you guys later.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the 71 Buccos at all. Playing with Clemente will be fun.

Also Knight, kudos on the Expos and Astros. I knew Mike Scott would be a beast. He scattered 5 hits against me, shutting me out 4-0. He went to the distance throwing 105 pitches and striking out 9. His fastball was crisp and well spotted, then had that dang splitter. He would throw the splitter on any count. I got beat but man did I have a blast. Steve Rodgers threw well but not good enough.

                Re: Knight - classic teams

Does anyone have some good substitutes for the stadiums in which these teams play?

For example, playing as the 1982 Brewers, I couldn't put them in a park as modern as Miller. I ended up going with a Spring Training stadium with a round, smooth (non-jointed) outfield wall because, to me, it reminded me of County Stadium, the era-specific stadium the team would have had.

I could research this myself, I suppose. I just wanted to pose the question in case others have thought about it.

Is there an updated list of the teams and their years?

                  Yeah...I know what you mean.
I really...REALLY hope for a couple of things in regards to this.
I hope they add some classic stadiums, first and foremost.
I also hope they give us the option to assign stadiums in season mode(franchise too...but at LEAST season)

                    Okay guys...

Here is the file with the '92 Blue Jays added.
I didn't play them yet...so let me know if anything needs to be done.

I boosted up Dunston's(Cubs) arm strength....

I'll add the suggested stances in the next update.

                    Here is the.....LINK.....http://www.sendspace.com/file/htkmo9

                    Enjoy...and please...comments!

Sounds like you have much better access to the SCEA folks than we do, Knight, so my advice is this: make it happen for next year!

Knight - I have been following your efforts for some time and would really like to get my hands on these teams. They sounds awesome. I apologize if this has been covered. I have a PS3, how do I access these from your download link, and use them. Not real computer savvy here.

                        Thanks in advance.

                          If I may interject:

+ On your computer (I use a PC), click on the download link and download the folder.
                          + Unzip the folder.
+ Put the unzipped folder onto a USB drive/flash drive.
+ Insert into PlayStation 3 USB port.
+ Go to Games > Saved Data Utility on the XrossMediaBar (PS3 menu)
+ Find the folder and file. It should have an MLB 09 logo by it.
+ Press triangle and go to "Copy"
+ Copy onto the PlayStation 3 hard drive
+ Load rosters in MLB 09 "Load' screen

                            It's not hard...so we're good there.
However you do need a USB flash drive....like this...

The CHEAPEST you can find...(they are around 10 bucks)...you don't need a lot of memory space on it.
I get mine off www.newegg.com.....but you can pick them up at Target...Wal-Mart...just about anywhere with an electronics section(sorry if you know all this already)..

Okay...when I give you the links...just download it to the flashdrive.
It will come in a "zipped" folder and you need to unzip it.
Use this free(download the 45 day FREE trial....when the trial runs out...delete it from your programs using the Windows add/remove programs...) then re-install it. After your second use(you "can" do this many:wink: more times...but if you're going to use it...might as well cough up the bucks)...
                            .......WINZIP LINK....http://www.winzip.com/prod_down.htm

                            Okay...sounds complicated...but it's not...trust me.

Now once you've downloaded the file from the link I provide....just double click on the zipped file...and the WinZip program will ask you where you want to put the files...keep it pointed to the flash drive(usually the D...and you will get a PS3 folder.
You can now delete or move the zipped file from the drive.
Put the USB drive in your PS3...
Go to the XMB(the screen you see when there is no game in and you start the machine or when you press the PS button on the controller(the round one in the middle)...
Go to the SAVED DATA UTILITY section....press X
                            Highlight the USB drive
                            Press triangle
                            Choose COPY
It will copy the files to the PS3 hard drive.
Now when you start the game....LOAD the roster...
You can now play exhibition games or if you start a season....just choose my file as the roster when you start.

If you have any troubles...PM me and I'll get you going with this...no problem.

I think they already wanted some in for this year.
I think it might be a space issue in some way.
