Are you willing to share (totally understandable if you are not) the formulas by which you calculate player ratings for power, contact, plate discipine, speed, etc.?
Yeah, that would be a great help to me, as well. Because what I've been doing is taking what a player hit in the year I'm doing, then find someone on MLB 09 The Show that hit the same, and see what SCEA gave them as ratings for contact. But, that doesn't seem accurate

This might be like asking Colonel Sanders for his secret recipe

I'm glad you asked, because I was afraid to.

        ...Ha!

Forget the Colonel...it's more like this guy from the Bayou who used to do this cooking show from what looked like the swamps.....he always used wine in his recipes and he'd drink 3/4 of the bottle before the show was done!

...I've "abandoned" the formula long ago......It's just a second nature now....I wouldn't even know where to begin with setting it down anywhere. Everything in the Show....feeds off something else.....it's like a road map with no street names on it..
        Sorry.

Trust me...it's not an avoidance.....I don't mind sharing and I don't mind helping anyone out.

        Okay...
Here is the set with the '95 Rockies added!
Man...they couldn't pitch at all...but that lineup...starters/regulars..whoever!....could knock it around.
Bichette is an animal. Pure and simple.

My Rockies...thank you Knight. I hope there wasn't any Altitude Bias in taking so long:wink:

These were the Gebhard Rockies (then GM Bob Gebhard): blast the ball and outscore your opponent. It took me awhile to see current GM Dan O'Dowd's masterplan with the current Rockies, but it has been masterful. Build your team around high-character, defensive-oriented players to go along with a pitching staff of sinkerballing "pitchers" not throwers. I really didn't like the old Rockies' style. I am a small ball baseball fan, not a big fan of the bang a ball style, but I loved that team. I can't wait to see Walker, Burks, Gallaraga, EY, Weiss, Castilla, and of course Bichette.

Remember, the 95 team was pre-humidor. Yes, the humidor is the single biggest factor in Coors Field becoming a more normal producing ballpark. Did you turn off the "humidor effect" in the global settings?

            Knight,
You're thinking of Justin Wilson. Being from Louisiana myself, Justin is a legend here. Sort of like the Louisiana equivalent of Harry Caray. He's been dead for 15 years and his show still comes on the public televsion station. And you're right I don't think he ever cooked anything without putting wine in it or on it!!!

But, back to the classic teams. You've really outdone yourself with
The Rockies. I'd forgotten how much fun those guys were to watch.
Looking forward to the final three teams. And seeing what other magic you have up your sleeve regarding your next project!!!

Sorry for the brief off topic tangent but I have to comment on Justin Wilson. He is on our public tv too on some Saturdays, used to anyways. I even joke around with my kids when I am cooking I will talk like him. Good entertainment. Ok back to baseball.

Sorry if this has been explained before. Why when I play as the 95 Rockies, Walker is 34 not 33 but he is 33 when you go to edit. Kevin Ritz should be 30 but is Walker's 33 in the game but again 30 when you go to edit. Thanks.

                Re: Knight - classic teams

I played a game last night with the 2 latest teams; the Rockies (me) vs the "Devil" Rays. Man, that Rockies team is fun. Believe it or not though, this was a low scoring affair (for these 2 pitching staffs, anyway) as the Rockies took the game 4-3. Neither team could even muster a hit the first time through the lineup, as the first hit - and run - came on McGriff's second at bat when he hit a hanging slider over the left field fence. The Rockies had 13 hits but had a hard time plating runs. Galarraga (2), Walker, and Weiss all had RBI's and Kevin Ritz was POG throwing 7 innings of 1 run ball.

I took pics but failed to copy them onto my thumb drive, but Knight did a great job on the Big Cat. I would rank him up there with Keith Hernandez as some of Knight's finest CAP work. Great job again, Knight. I'm looking forward to getting the last 3 so I can begin my season.

I almost forgot. Weirdest thing, but after Galarraga's 2nd hit in the game the screen flashed to him and Vasgersian said something like, "Well there you go, folks, history has just been made as we have a new all-time hits leader". Any ideas where that came from?

                  Re: Knight - classic teams

Again Knight, great job with these teams. Having a ball playing the Cards. I have noticed that it appears as though pitching has dominated. I played a three game series against the cubs that went, 6-5 in 12 innings (only exception), then 3-2, 3-1. Then against Harvey's Wallbangers the Brewers and have seen 3-1 and 2-1games. I would be interested in what other players are seeing as far as scores, etc. I am playing MOM.

                  Thanks..

I never play MOM, so not much to compare to. But mine have generally been low with the exception of a handful of games. I know at one point Knight mentioned that he needed to start balancing out the teams because of this very reason, but I'm not sure if he's done that or not.

I haven't(balanced yet)....and my classic sets are almost always pitching dominant.(a little "bad habit" of mine it seems.....but I kind of like it that way)

Joey....Thanks!...I think Galarraga did come out pretty damn good! First time I saw him in game....I was thinking...whoa...The Big Cat!

Hammer....I was wondering why I couldn't get Walker to 33(I was working quickly the other night).....it's because Ritz has it then....I'll fix their numbers.

Thanks Mr. K. I was giddy at the job you did with the Rockies. Yes, El Gato Grande was dead on. His batting stance is dead on from the waist up, but remember his extra open stance? I was looking for an open stance, it is like generic 3 I think, but I haven't seen it in action. The one you've got is so darn close. Either way, I don't think you can ever match up both halves...if that makes sense.

I liked what you did with Bichette and those catapillar eyebrows.

Some small, minor, nitpicky observations were that Vinny Castilla went without a mustache. I was trying to remember if he ever went with facial hair, and I can't ever remember him doing it. Minor. Another minor one is Steve Reed was a little more submarine; wondering if he would be closer to Chad Bradford? Just wondering. That is it that I saw. Superb job.

Oh, and Ellis Burks was dead on.

The Blake Street Bombers live on!!!!

I stand corrected. LOL, the mustache on this card looks like the one my son's trying to grow. In the game he looks like Cheech Marin.

I will always carefully mention items because I would never want to take a chance on offending you. What you are doing is invaluable to me because I don't have the patience to sit and do what you are doing. I enjoy these classic rosters so much it is beyond explanation. I would pay for them even...seriously. Hear that SCEA

I will always carefully mention items because I would never want to take a chance on offending you. What you are doing is invaluable to me because I don't have the patience to sit and do what you are doing. I enjoy these classic rosters so much it is beyond explanation. I would pay for them even...seriously. Hear that SCEA
                              Haha.....Cheech LIVES!
Kind of like the 'stache I tried to grow in High School. I looked like a white Juan Valdez.
Thanks for that laugh Hammer....Not that I was having a bad day...but I just got home from work and it was a tough commute. Always good to get a good laugh in.

Oh....and don't worry about offending me.
I'm a NYC Fireman. I spend half my life dodging missiles in the firehouse kitchen...the MOST BRUTAL PLACE ON EARTH. Thin skin need not apply!(more like you need to be a friggin' rhino to not bleed in that place!). It starts from the second you walk in with a bag of bagels and say good morning to the barbs flying at you as you walk out the door(usually with you holding up 1 finger(not your pointer) to say goodbye...but always laughing )

                                Hey Knight!

Great job on the Rockies. My only suggestion other than the ones posted above have to do with Larry Walker's arm strength. I could easily just bump it up myself, but I recall someone mentioning Dunston needed a bump earlier, so I thought I'd mention it for Larry...he had a gun too!

                                Appreciate the work man!
