Awesome rosters Knight. I started up a season with the 85 redbirds. Absolutely great. Jack Clark took Dock Ellis deep to go up 3-1 and Tudor, Lahti, and Worrell held it. It's going to be awesome getting to play Whitey ball and steal 130 bases with Coleman. I can't wait for the all star game that should be awesome.

Re: Knight - classic teams
I finally had a chance to play a Blue Jays game last night. I pitted the '92 Jays against the '91 Twins. It was a real barn burner, with 14 total runs scored. Minnesota jumped on Toronto early with 3 runs in the 2nd and 1 in the 3rd. Then in the 7th they tacked on 4 more in large part to Hrbek's 3 run homerun (does anyone else want to just plunk him in the helmet every time he comes up?), making it an 8-2 game after 7. Joe Carter hit a HR in the 8th and then Maldonado absolutely crushed one. The Blue Jays scored 1 more in the 9th for a final score of 8-6 Twins.

Re: Knight - classic teams
Knight,
I went through all the Blue Jays hitters last night and this is what I came up with on a few of them (as well as the reason I chose them vs what you had).
Joe Carter = Eric Hinske (Feet a little closer together & hands in the right place)
John Olerud = Eddie Matthews (Hands are lower)
Candy Maldonado = Willie McCovey (Left elbow a little lower & right elbow a little higher)
Dave Winfield = Miguel Cairo (Right elbow up higher)
Derek Bell = Joe Crede (Right elbow higher)
Greg Myers = Generic 2 (Both hands in perfect position)
I had pics of each that I compared the stances with to get these. I think they're all really close, and the rest of the guys you had looked spot on. Try these out and let me know what you think.Comment

Re: Knight - classic teams
Here is a list I made for what uniforms would be most accurate to use with these classic teams.
I've also included the proper stadiums, and for a lot of them, you're probably best just using the team stadium. But with the Astros, Brewers, or other teams with really modern stadiums (along with the Twins and other teams with major stadium discrepancies), you could try those listed instead.
Note: I based the stadiums on similarities with regards to outfield wall shape, outfield dimensions, beyond-the-wall features such as scoreboard placement, dirt patterns, etc. I've used the Rogers Centre multiple times because, if you look at old stadiums, most had very smooth, non-jointed outfield walls, and many of them had seats beyond the walls. It seems like a lot of them were playing in football stadiums.
Enjoy.

What?...Break into SCEA's offices and use one of their editing machines!
Joey....
I'm diggin' that pic of Carter. I love that angle!
..and that Candy HR...talk about a no-doubter!
Thank you for the stance suggestions...I'll get them in tomorrow.
I got home from work late and I have my 4 y.o. grandson visiting for a couple of days(my B-day Monday...he wants to give me my gifts personally). We just got finished watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas(twice). I think he thinks he's going to wake up to a pile of presents tomorrow!
.
I'm going to start on the Marlins now and see how much I can get done. If not tonight...definitely tomorrow

I'm actually going to print this out and use it for a guide with exhibition games(for the stadiums) and regular season games for the uni's!
Thank you.

Re: Knight - classic teams
I will be buying the USB drive tomorrow. All I can say is thanks Knight, everyone really thinks they are amazing. I wondered if anyone knew if they offer classic teams or stadiums for download from Sony in years past or if they plan to? Sorry new to MLB The Show this year bought the system for it, couldn't be happier. Thanks for the hard work, I wish I could get Tiger Stadium back from demolition to make that 84 run all over again.Comment

Re: Knight - classic teams
Most of the older MLB parks that aren't in use seem to be multi-purpose or football stadiums; that is, they have curved outfield walls and two decks of seats. (Riverfront, Veterans Stadium, Three Rivers, Jack Murphy, Candlestick, the Astrodome, and Kingdome were like this.) Only two of the spring training or minor league stadiums have seats past the fences, and they certainly aren't tiered. (That's why Rogers Centre is on there for four different teams.)
Glad to help out, and glad that people like it!Last edited by Shinyhubcaps; 06-28-2009, 12:48 AM.Comment

Re: Knight - classic teams
Not sure how I didn't notice this (or realize this) the first time went through the rosters, but I noticed it last night. Storm Davis is on that Oakland team you made. I was named after him

Re: Knight - classic teams
I got through a good amount last night....but not totally done.
I've got the pitching staff(11 + Rick Helling as the extra)....and the starting nine.(I used the SCEA Renteria, Alou and Sheffield.....I think those guys are okay to use....just for the names and faces...I changed the attributes. I still may change it though...they always refer to the 40 something Alou)
So I just need to do the bench and the Marlins are done. Then on to The Rays or the Rangers.
Storm....mom and dad big Oakland fans?!

No. I guess I wasn't actually named AFTER him, but, from what I've heard, there was a bad thunderstorm when I was born, and someone jokingly suggested naming me Thunder or something, and my dad said "There is actually a baseball player named Storm Davis.", and so they went with that.
