Re: Turn Back the Clock: 2000 Season Replay-A Subway Series

So how is everyone planning on using these?

-Are you planning on using the transaction and injury sheets Knight gave us and playing the season out as it happened?

-Or are you going to just turn injuries on and see how the season plays out?

    -Or possibly another combination?

I'm trying to decide between real-life transactions & injuries, turning injuries on and manual trades, or injuries on and trades on. Just trying to get a fee for what others are doing.

      I'm actually doing both.
      On one PS3...
      -30 team control
-set all the 40 man "add-ons"
-injuries-ON...with injury slider a notch below default
-Roster management(which ever one decides call ups/send downs...NOT MANAGEMENT which refers to the coaches/manager hiring/firing) ON
-Lineups/rotations to AUTO(one thing you guys must watch though...on Atlanta...I found two pitchers that were fake(C. LIMA)....that I accidentally have on the 40 man...he will get called up)
-Rehab and all financials on AUTO

On the other...my main PS3 for use
      -30 team control
      -set the add-ons
      -roster management to AUTO
-everything else to MANUAL(the CPU makes the call up...I re-do the lineups)
It's quite easy to do the transactions/injuries and re-do the lineups this way.

Now...last night I had one of the strangest games(I'm still in the middle of it...the 6th inning...I was too beat to finish after coming home from work....working on the Classic Set a bit and then playing a game).
      Mets vs. Montreal....Hampton vs. Vasquez
Hampton was absolutely all over the place. In just 3 innings of work he had 6 walks...1 hit batsmen and gave up 5 runs(he actually left the bases loaded in innnings 1 and 2). I brought in Mahomes to work 3 innings and he has also given up a walk or two....It's definitely going to be the most walks I've ever seen issued in a MoM game.
After Montreal scored 3 in the first....I scored 2 in the bottom half of the inning and I thought Hampton might hold on, right himself and we'd beat up on Vasquez...but he promptly gave up two more.
It still stands at 5-2 ...Montreal.
I'll let you guys know the outcome tonight!

Re: Turn Back the Clock: 2000 Season Replay-A Subway Series

Well...that was one of the most interesting losses I've ever had.
My pitching staff wound giving up 12 walks(and 2 hit batsmen in addition)...only 8 hits and gave up 6 runs.
I wound up losing that game 6-2.
It was a bit frustrating also.....watching my starter give up 6 walks and then the rest to follow suit...I'm already thinking of making some replacements!(not really Hampton is quite a pitcher)...
I do have an off day until Colorado comes into town(great...Helton and Cirillo!)...but I may still want to call up a pitcher as my relief corps is shot right now. Mahomes-unavailable(my only viable LR guy)...and also Wendell(pitched in 5 games already) is unavailable....leaving my only righty in the pen, Benitez(my closer). Looks like I'll need to send down Timo Perez(he's up because Benny Agbayani is injured)...and bring up Grant Roberts for insurance for a couple of games.
(on this note...I have "spoken" to Brian Ma(one of the programmers at SCEA) about this very thing. While I will treat my handling of the RP'ers this way and have them "unavailable" due to recent use...the CPU tends to disregard this(that's why I give them such low stamina ratings) and the appearances grow to the 90's and 100's!. Brian sees that this might be something that is unrealistic and will look into trying to remedy it. I'm not saying that it will be solved for '11....as I don't know what else is on his plate..but they know of the problem)

Hopefully...Al Leiter can right the ship for my 3-3 Mets vs. Colorado!

Is there a way to set up an actual series for two teams? I looked at the Rivalry mode and it looks close but no manage mode that I could find. I'm in the last week of regular season in my franchise game and I'm finishing that up where I play most of the games. With this 2000 set I've only had time to play 2 complete games. Both vs the Mets. I'm 1-1. First game El Duque struck out Piaza late in the game for a Yankees win. Last night I left Clemens in to face Piaza with a runner on 1st 2 outs bottom of 7th tie ball game 2-2. Piaza blasted it to Monument Park. Yankess lose 4-2.

Great great set. I plan to primarily Manage games with this set but will play some as well.

          thanks,

Set up a series in MoM...no...sorry.
I like the ending of your second game!

Okay...my season. You know how you hear you should always go with your first instinct?....you should.
I figured with a day off in between the Expo series and my upcoming series in Colorado....I could get away with the rest my pen would get on the scheduled day off. Plus...what would be the chances of back to back poor pitching performances by Hampton and then Leiter, right?
Well although Leiter wasn't walking the ballpark....he just didn't have it either...and my pitching coach, Dave Wallace did not have any answers for me. Tied 3-3 in the fourth...but already up to 82 pitches, Leiter would need a quick one-two-three in the fifth to help the cause.
Instead.....he loaded the bases and gave up another run quickly. I got Rich Rodriguez up and he only had one good inning in him....well...not really as although Leiter got out of the jam with just giving up the lead ...5-3...he was gassed and Rodriguez handed them another two runs. I had no righty to put in and Cook gave up a solo homer to Hammonds....for an 8-3 deficit.
We did battle back to 8-6 in the eighth and then cut it to 8-7 in the ninth on a Todd Ziele solo homer...but I had nobody except my closer and starters to put in....and a tie game in the ninth would crush me for games 2 and 3.

Now I absolutely must bring up another pitcher...and instead of Roberts...I'll go with Springer based just on stamina.
            Live and learn.
(oh...also bad idea to pitch to Helton with an open base...regardless of his .200 average...he went 3-5 with a homer and 3 RBI)

Hey, so I just got to downloading this. Great set, awesome job!

I'm a big Brewers fan, so, when I noticed that you had Geoff Jenkins, and Jeromy Burnitz both using Mark Loretta's Gen. 80 for their stance, I went about seeing what I could find.

Jenkins - I've narrowed it down to either Gen. 29 or Gen. 48. I'm leaning towards 29, but I've heard from multiple people that the one he had in the game was 48. Anyone wanna play tie-breaker on that?

Burnitz - I'm using Wily Mo Pena, since Burnitz's stance doesn't appear to be one of the Generics, and I had seen people using Burnitz for Pena in previous games.

Other than that, everything looks great. Once again, awesome job, and I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate you making these!

                You're welcome....
Thanks for the recommendations on the stances....I'll change them in my current franchise. For me...that's the toughest part. Hard to find video...and from pics and cards..you really can't tell when the pic is taken(how far into the stance or swing). So it really helps when people make suggestions, so again...thank you.

Is anyone else having problems with setting battings orders but then checking box scores and finding that the batting order was totally reordered all out of whack? This onyl happens in simmed games. And I have all teams manually controlled

Even in simmed games...the CPU will rest players. When they do...they re-shuffle the batting orders as it sees fit.
                      It shouldn't happen often though.

Is there a concenus that a certain slider set goes better with these rosters? I use classic pitching, by the way. Knight, do you use your set or a downloaded set? Great job Knight!!

Thanks...I set these up(as I do with every set I create) with default sliders in mind. You should be able to use your "usual" slider set.
I use the exact upload of the v.1.1(the one where I added Kevin Brown and Alex Hernandez) for my season.

A 'hello' from the Philippines! I just bought a ps3 and wanted to delve into the MLB the Show world, but wasnt sure because ever since we moved to the Philippines, I haven't been able to really keep up with the MLB. BUT when I saw this amazing piece of work for the 2000 season, I was absolutely intrigued! So, I just wanted to check if this roster file has now been posted in the Vault. If so, this is a definite buy for me simply because this was one of the most memorable seasons for me!

So if someone would be kind enough to confirm that this set has been posted in the vault, that would be greatly appreciated!

                            Cheers!

Sure is. I believe there's 2 versions as Knight added a couple of players he left off the first version.

It is an awesome set; I haven't had time to start up a Franchise yet, but plan on doing so over the holidays.

Thanks for the info bro! Well I guess the purchase is a 'no brainer'! By the way bro, what is the name of the file? I will never forget this particular season, and getting the chance to re-live it virtually should be a treat! I'm tempted to brave the traffic (yep, traffic in the Philippins is absolutely horrendous) to grab a copy! Looking forward to takin' the Reds through a season with this set!

                                Cheers!
