    TRIPLE POST!!!!

Oh and Statdude, I'm confused by ur Fictional roster A/B totals. They are way off. You have no A potential 2B? I saw a couple by just checking a couple teams. Same for 1B, I didn't bother checking other postitions. Am I missing something?

I was confused by that too, but I don't think he's talking about potential grades. If you open up a player's "card" I think it gives the player an overall rating "grade". So it's another way of checking overall rating.

I do some simming of franchise before I changed much.
Do you mean to say, "I would do some simming before changing much, if I were you"? Or are you saying that you personally sim a lot before you make changes?

Since I'm making changes that will bring our roster in line with an SCEA roster, I expect season stat totals to mirror an SCEA roster. So I didn't think it was necessary to sim first.

Yes I meant to say "I would do some simming before I would change much." LoL brain works faster than the fingers apparently.

I was looking at OVR not POT for the grades.

              Re: Fictional Rosters

L'd the rosters today. Fantasy draft franchise with no edits.

Played my 1st 3 game series with CHD HoF sliders.

              (1) Great job. Appearances are awesome. My ace has ears you can pick up Soviet radio with. Awesome.

              (2) The reason relievers are higher rated is simply VELOCITY. OOTP must not value velocity like SCEA in player valuation.

In my 3 games, none of the 6 starters have thrown over 92. The relievers come in throwing 94-97. With the fictional rosters I made using all SCEA fakes, I had 4 starters throwing between 94-98, and they weren't that good.

If you're worried about relievers being too good, just play some games and have your mind put at ease. They don't hold leads.

              G1-Won 10-9 in 10.
G2-Lost 7-3 (used time instead of zone).
              G3-Lost 6-5

I've hit 5 HR, 3 with contact swing, 2 with normal.

Have drawn 13 walks in 3 games, issued 6.

Pitchers do not dominate. Starters are much better with secondary pitches than relievers.

The sim'd season stats are going to be pretty normal, no matter what rosters are used. I've tried it with 3 very different rosters and saw similar things. The key is to get your sliders and gameplay style to mimic the dimmed stats so that the gameplay results are in line.

Oh yeah, 2 of my 5 HR are from my 8 hitter whose power is in the low 50s.

Play 10 games (20 is better) and record the results, then decide. IMO if reliever rats are decreased, they are going to be terrible. If defense ratings are increased too much, offense may be suppressed significantly.

I would not base decisions on summed stats. They're going to turn out "normal" regardless. Base rating adjustments on gameplay results using fair/consistent sliders, IMHO.

              Great job fellas.

                Re: Fictional Rosters

Game 4 saw both bullpens put up scoreless 8th and 9th innings. Combination of good relievers, bad plate discipline, and high pitcher confidence can do that.

IMO, the issue with lower rated batters is the defense ratings. Its entirely possible that the 2 games treat defensive ratings in different ways.

When working on the rosters, it is going to be nearly impossible to tell whether its the player ratings, gamer skill, slider influence, etc. This could easily be one of those projects where it is "never done".

Thats why I was more worried about "sim" because I knew player skill and sliders were an unknown variable. I just figured if we could get the roster to put up "realistic" sim stats then we would be in pretty good shape.

Are you guys experiencing unrealistic sim stats?

I ask because when I simmed a season, I saw most teams having BA's around .270 and ERA around 4.40

When looking at simmed stats, I would focus on team totals of "runs scored" and "runs allowed". If those are right, then the rest is just rearranging how they score runs.

But really, with SCEA, I notice the sim stats turn out "normal" almost regardless of rosters.

No, I simmed five seasons into a franchise and was pleased with the stats overall.

not sure if you guys would care but i uploaded a roster with mostly your created guys (I changed names and moved teams) plus i added my original 6 teams rosters..after simming five seasons and fine tuning stats ive got realistic numbers except saves but i have a feeling nothing will change that..they are vaulted under MR.RANDOM or some version of that name in case youd like a look..any and all feedback is much appreciated

just wanted to say great job guys.
These rosters got me playing the game again. amazing job. Hopefully scea can just put a fictional roster in the game next year so you guys dont have to waste your time and do it.

                              stats are really good.
I editting in some guys like ricky vaughn and roy hobbs.

Hobbs smacked out 67 hrs for me in year 2.
