Moscoso's in the running now, I guess.

They might be trying to squeeze him back through waivers, hoping no one else claims him and then stash him in Iowa? I don't think he'll push Wade and Takahashi personally, so I'm assuming that is their "ultimate" plan.

Reading around that seems to be the plan. Shove him through waivers and hope no one claims him.

Unless they really want a long man in the bullpen since Villanueva got a rotation spot.

I'm hoping Takahashi gets the spot, looking at them both this spring I think I'd much prefer having him in there over Wade at this point.

The potentials have been relatively unchanged from the spreadsheet I posted a little while back. I think only the changes were made to some of the pitchers, Johnson, Underwood, Blackburn.

For the tendencies I went with pretty standard tendencies, i.e. slight pull for most guys, but nothing drastic. Some of the C players might have the same tendencies, I tried to mix them up, but I may have used the same generated player for the same C player for instance.

I haven't finished the stances/deliveries for some guys so if anyone found a good one for someone let me know.

The ratings are what I will probably tweak a bit more as I reused authentic's ratings for some players and those need some changes.

Faces are almost copied over from authentic's roster last year. Someone will make faces for the "new" players this year.

I'm hoping to get the roster to Knight within a day or two.

One guy I have not inputted is Armando Rivero. What do you guys think about him? Potential? Needs to be in roster?
Rivero is pretty advanced at 23. Will probably hit AA this year so i'm thinking he should be there. C+ potential. Ceiling is a late-inning reliever or 3-4 starter.

Mind showing me the new potentials, ratings, and the 90man before you send it in so I can make sure everything is nice and accurate and see if anybody needs to be dropped or added?

Also did you take a look at the long post I left some pages back? Had a bunch of useful info

I'll make sure Rivero is in the roster. Do you think he is a SP as of right now?

I'll post up a list, or just upload the roster file and you guys can pick it over. I'm open to any changes, especially to ratings as that can be a bit subjective in terms of the progression and such. I'm going to try and finish up stuff tonight and get a roster file up by tomorrow sometime so that people can work on the faces that are not done as I cannot make them. I'll let you guys know when I post that.

I saw everything in this thread, all the info posted by everyone so far has helped a lot.

As of now there are about 46-47 SCEA made players already on the roster if you count Moscoso. I am trying to fit in what everyone here thinks are the "important" guys, but positions need to be filled, there needs to be at least enough pitchers, etc.

There are some players that are on the fringe of being in the roster and I am unsure of who should be included or not since we are limited to 90 guys. I'll post up a list when I get home of who these are. I am sort of hoping some players get released soon to be honest.

I know everyone wants these out but I think I'd hold off until about April 4-5 as there will be alot of roster movement around the minors next week. Also, in regards to the cubs, I know there's not a lot of catching prospects right now but make sure there's at least two for each team as well as 1 in class A. Nothing worse than running out of catchers due to injuries in a franchise.

MrOldBoy doesn't release the rosters, that's Knight and Ridin usually.

As for catchers, I know he's mentioned including:

                Castillo
                Navarro
                Clevenger
                J.C. Boscan
                Michael Brenly
                Rafael Lopez

It looks like Boscan will be the only catcher in Iowa (IRL) for the time being.

Do you really want to see someone like Chad Noble in the roster over a notable Single A prospect? If depth becomes an issue in franchise you can always sign a Minor League Free Agent.

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster

Yeah, I'm going to try and get the roster file to Knight very soon.

What I post on the vault will only be a preliminary roster, missing faces, needing rating and other tweaks. Once that is settled I'll send the final file to Knight and they do what they do.

As for the catchers it would be nice to have two at each level. I was sort of counting on Clevenger being at AAA, but looks like he'll make the MLB roster.

I'm ok with leaving the catching situation as it is, I don't know if others deserve to be included just because they are catchers. I was considering Chad Noble and Jair Fernandez for a bit, but with the limited space I put them in the reserve pile.

Once OSFM we can make some more prospects to include on the vault or in a second roster file so people can have more options over who they want in the Cubs system.

For instance if Chad Noble isn't in the roster, we can make him and anyone can import him over an existing OSFM player.

I'm sure Iowa will carry more than one catcher, it may not be someone who plays it primarily but there's no way a AAA team is gonna go more than a week with only one catcher.

And I know knight releases the actual roster, I was saying he should hold off on turning in his final cubs roster till then.

I don't want to hold up the whole OSFM set due to potential roster moves that might happen. I'm going to go with what we know now and if stuff happens it happens. I'm going to try and get the file to Knight as soon as its done.

I'll ask about the catcher situation.

Yeah, that's why I said for the time being. Impossible for there to be one guy shouldering all of the catching responsibilities for an entire season. Do you (or anyone) know if any of the guys scheduled to be in Iowa have previous catching experience?

Clevenger had to go and ruin the balance of the roster by (allegedly) making the MLB club. How selfish.

OK, so I'll add in one more catcher. It was pointed out that there should be 7 in case of injury.

Not a huge deal, but now to determine who should be included.

A lower level catcher or an older catcher? Any preference on who?

You could use this guy if you go the lower level route.

Wilson Contreras, 20, C, R/R: The Cubs don't have a lot of catching prospects in their organization. The best are Chadd Krist and Rafael Lopez but both project as backups. Contreras is nowhere near advanced as those two but has a higher ceiling. He's an athletic catcher who should have ideal size for the position when he fills out. A former infielder, he moves well behind the plate and possesses a strong arm with a quick release. At the plate he is an aggressive hitter (.273/.326/.357) and shows the potential for some extra base pop, but he'll have to refine his approach (4.1% walk rate) and gain strength (.084 ISO). He's a project but there is something to work with here.

I should also ask, who are the catchers you have in now? I'm guessing Castillo, Clevenger, Navarro, Boscan and Brenly. So one of Contreras, Lopez or Krist would work.

I'm also guessing that if Clevenger does make the 25 man roster that they will pick up a has been/career minor leaguer that gets released by another team for Iowa.
