Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
It wouldn't surprise me. I always tried to get my files in about a week before release. Remember, they import your players into their roster, so it won't look exactly like it does when you send it out. Just get all the players in and they'll take care of the rest.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
Yea I here you. Especially that it's the first roster set, the kinks usually get worked out by v1/v2. As loong as the faces are good and the attributes and potentials are okay then it's pretty much a go for the first set.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
A good year for the Cubs would be as close to .500 as they can get. Which is all I am hoping for and think that if they can get the starting rotation healthy, they could at least have a shot at being tough. But, I could also see them losing 100 games again if the injuries keep on piling up, especially once they trade away the few Veterans who are playing well at the deadline for prospects.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
File is up on the vault, only one uploaded by me.
Pmed Ridin so this is the file he will use to import.
It should have all the faces that Legion made and the rest I copied from authentic's roster last year and I got Chavez from Seattle.
I only made a few changes to the faces. Fujikawa with blonde hair and a few skin tone changes.
Thanks for all the help from people in this thread. Made finding info, scouting reports, etc a lot easier as well as deciding on who to include. Since the roster is for everyone's use I thought that getting you'r guys' input was important on this. This was my first year so it took me a while to figure everything out. I hope it came out well enough to everyone's liking.
The ratings could probably use more tweaking, but I don't think anything is way off or anything after doing some simming.
If there are any errors I made (name, age, position, etc), stance/motion changes ratings changes post them and hopefully Ridin can fix them. Equipment was the weirdest one as players change their gear game to game. If I could I used what I saw them wearing at ST this year. But even then in some cases I couldn't get them quite right (i.e. Almora wears a "medium" size elbow guard and the large in the game was the best I could do).
The stances/motions are all subjective to what I thought looked good so if you have ones that might work better let me know. I tried to get the follow through and stride right. Some of the young pitchers had little to no video so it was hard to get a good motion for them, so these are probably very hit or miss. Baez was the one that pissed me off as the game just doesn't have any "violent" type of stances or swings really.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
Here is the last sim I did with overall after each year of simming. I changed the ratings a bit, but nothing drastic. Upped Chavez and Watkins as I thought they were progressing a bit too slow. A few fielding changes and adjusted Soler and Baez a bit which ended up making the 75's in the current roster.
Potentials change so some guys saw their overall surpass their initial potential. Almora changed to an A in this sim so he would end up over 90 if I simmed another year.
Training was set to auto.

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
I looked the ratings and projections over a bit. I'm quite pleased with how they turned out. I think Paniagua (should be a starter?), Underwood, Zych, and Candelario are underated but everyone is going to have their quibble. They look great and thanks for the time you put in. I agree with the others who say turn them in and we can adjust anything later. Well done.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
Candelario could use a bump, he reached 74 at age 23 and since he's a B- he will continue to progress. Although thinking about this more that doesn't seem that off if he reaches his full B- potential at 25-26.
Zych is only a C potential so he reached his mid 70s ceiling after two years since he has a 69 initial rating. He's slated to start at AA so I thought it makes sense to have him progress over a year or two to his C potential. Maybe he should have been higher than a C to begin with though.
I was unsure on Underwood, how long his progression should be. He is only 18 and his ETA could be far in the future. He reached 75 after 4 years at just 22 years old still.
I not sure on Paniagua as to what he should be honestly. I was debating where to put him as to what he might project to be or what he might be used as right now. To me he could be a solid late inning reliever. But if he is projected to start this year we can change it.
I've already pmed ridin so when he sees that he'll grab the file from the vault.
edit: How are the stances to you guys? Anyone you think are better for certain players?Last edited by MrOldboy; 04-01-2013, 03:12 AM.Comment

Speaking of which, did you accomadate for guys listed as RP in the game when they have been transitioned to starters? Guys like Cabrera and Vizcaino?(changing durability and stamina to starter levels)
Underwood has a current ETA of 2018-19. His sim was pretty accurate considering he reached 75 at age 22. His ceiling is probably the highest of any pitcher in the system but on the other hand, he's so young and raw it will take him the longest to get there with a chance he may not make it at all.
Zych is fine. He profiles as a late-inning guy, possibly closer so C+ with a 1-2 year ETA is right about what he expects to do.
Junior Lake at B+ is still far too high imo. Even if he is B+ the chances of him reaching that look extremely low. I trust there's a mechanic in the game that adjusts for that.
I downloaded another "so called best" Cubs roster because I couldn't find yours and it was bad. Had all the ratings for pitching prospects messed up(Maples avg fastball velo was 91mph...), Underwood was a D potential, etc.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
mine is listed as CCCCCC1. Sort by username its the only one I've uploaded MrOldboy
Lake is a B- not a B+. He topped out at 82 and shouldn't go past that unless he got lucky and his potential inceased during franchise.
There are not edits for SCEA guys by me, but I am going to pm ridin with the changes I posted in the OSFM thread and mentioned to Knight. He said that positional changes should be ok, but ridin needs to do them since you can't import SCEA players.
Travis Wood as SP
Vizcaino as SP
Cabrera to SP
Clevenger getting a 1B/3B secondary. Would be nice if you could also add in 2B, but IF would let him play SS.
Valbuena to 3B, SS/2B secondary
I don't know if Ridin will edit the ratings though, they need to be if they are changed to SP. But they were pretty clear that no SCEA player edits on the initial release.
The potentials are very cut and dry from what I have read and from asking the other roster makers who have more knowledge of the system. This causes issues and why I was hesitant to give out a lot of high potentials. There is no real "bust" system in place, a player will typically always hit his potential. You can prolong the progression, like what I did with Underwood. Or speed it up like with Zych.
There are 10 tiers within each potential rating. So for example I used an A5 generic for Baez so he should have a potential ceiling rating of 95. So you can get that granular with it.
That is why Rhee hit 69 and stayed their, his potential was a D+ and that was where the game has him top out.
What also happens if that the potentials change during franchise sometimes. You'll get an email saying a player's stock is rising and sure enough when you go check him his potential has changed.
So in that last sim Ronald Torreyes started with a C+ potential, but after the first year he increased to a B- potential, which is why his rating made it over his C+ ceiling. So there is some variability in the game.Last edited by MrOldboy; 04-01-2013, 04:47 AM.Comment
