I shouldn\'t have anyone over .400. Anyone, I tried lowering contact to 0 (-10 from default) and I also lowered power to 0 (-10 from default) and it got a bit better, still haven\'t played enough with this new setting. Anyone else having this problem? I am playing on HoF difficulty with pitch speed at +4 from default. Any help would be appreciated to make the game a bit more challenging. Just so you know, the power seems ok, no one is hitting too many homeruns, it\'s just that I am averaging literally 16+ hits per game.
Here's how I approach hitting. I use the power swing, square button, if I have either 0 or 1 strikes on me, and then use the contact swing, x button, once I get 2 strikes. It makes hitting a bit more difficult. You are going to have your 10+ hit games, and then again, you aren't.

Is any one else having a hard time getting strikeouts while pitching or is it just me. It seems i can only get 2 or 3 strikeouts a game. Does any one have any advice? Thanks.

Hey man, I am not that great, but here's what I do...I throw a lot of pitches. Don't be afraid to walk hitters, b/c if you throw too many strikes, you'll get pounded. You can get the AI in a 2 strike count and get them on balls out of the zone. Usually up and in fastballs or junk low and away. Also, mix up pitch speed. Don't be afraid to max the meter on a fastball now and then. I get K's with the usual suspects (Unit, Rivera) and get a decent amount with other guys, nothing out of the ordinary.

Other guys will probably have better solutions, but I didn't want to leave you hangin.

WOW!!! I am amazed right now. I've been hitting from the catcher's view for 50+ games and was consistently getting 6-12 hits per game. My lowest hit totals were 5 on two different occasions. I finally switched to wide view, and my last 5 games, I have a total of 23 hits. Against the DRays my last game I lost 2-0. I only recorded 2 hits and gave up 4 hits to them. I still pitch from the catchers view. There is no way I'm going back from the wide view when hitting. I can't believe how much harder it is to hit from this view and it really makes you concentrate on what pitch is coming and watch the location of it. I almost want to re-start my franchise now. This is definately what I've been looking for. Thanks again Farve for the greatest sliders out there.

Hey man, thanks for the kind words again. Wide was a suggestion from someone on the forums and it had and still has the same effect on me. I now get some break out games, but against aces, it's tough. This game is a really great game of baseball. I have a feeling we would feel this way without sliders, but since they are there, it is fun to tweak to your style of play.

            How's your franchise going?
Mine-- I am struggling this go around with the Yanks. 3-9. Only Damon, Jeter, and ARod are hitting. Everyone else is in a slump. My pitching is no better. Even Mo is struggling right now. But, that's what I love about this game. This is my 3rd and final franchise and I have had 3 different starts to seasons. Good stuff.

Hey man, right now I'm 14 games under .500 with the O's. But most of the games I've lost were 9-6, 8-5, 7-4, etc.. I only had one game where I scored less than 3 runs using the catcher's view to bat. I'm going to restart my franchise tomorrow. Like I said on my last post, the wide view finally allows me to have those 2-0, 2-1 games and keeps my hits under 10 on a consistent basis. I played another game and I lost 4-3 to the Blue Jays, had runners on first and third with 1 out and Matos grounds into a double play to end the game. Each team had 8 hits that game and that's the most I've had since switching to the wide view.

Thanks to Cowboype2000 and Highheatkingsb for their input.

CLASSIC PITCHING HOF SLIDER TWEAKS *As of April 15, 2006

                  Level--HOF
                  CLassic Pitching
                  Batter view--Wide
                  Pitcher view--outfield
                  Fielding view--Low (My preference)
                  All pitching aids off
Everything set to manual (baserunning, fielding)
Pitch Speed- Default to +4 whatever you are comfortable with.
Contact-- -5 for me, -2 for the CPU (Default is 10)
Power--Default for both (Cowboy really convinced me of this plus with the classic pitching, you'll give up a fair share)

Arm Stregnth--Default for both. This is personal preference. A lot of guys like -4 or -6. It's fine, but sometimes I feel too many slow roller hits.

Arm Accuracy-- -4 for both (Greatly helps with errors)
Error frequency-- +3 for me and +5 for the CPU (The CPU needs some "help" with errors)
                  CPU baserunning aggression-- +5
                  Pitch count--Max
                  Strike Zone--Wide

That does it for now. I am getting good results with these. Hopefully they help someone.

                  METER HOF SLIDER TWEAKS (FINAL)

                  Settings
                  Level--HOF
Batting View--WIDE (This was a recent change. I helps cut down on some hits for me)
                  Pitching View--Outfield
Fielding level--Low (A preference. I like being closer to the action)
Pitching aids--All off (Strike zone, h/c zone, cursor)
                  Baserunning--All manual.

                  Sliders (all clicks from default)
                  Pit count- Max
Contact-- -5 for me, default for the CPU
                  Power-- +2 for both
Pitch speed-- Default to +4. Whatever you comfort level is.
                  Baserunning aggressive-- +5
Throw Speed--Default (although -2 for both works ok)
                  Thow Accuracy-- -4 for both
Errors-- +3 for me and +5 for the CPU (The CPU needs some "help" with errors)
                  Strike Zone--Wide
Favre I just wanted to know if these are the sliders that you are still using.
I am 70 games into my Reds franchise and have been using your meter pitching HOF sliders for some time now and I am loving them!
I have tried several different slider sets and I have come to realize these are by far the best set out there, great work man!

Thank you. I am still using them, just playing the game a little less. I finally bought a 360 after hearing the PS3 will be a mortgage payment so I have been enjoying that as well. This game, however, will always be in my rotation. It is a great game.

                      Favre..

I'm having problems getting strikeouts with anyone but Pedro and some relievers it seems. I can't K anyone with Glavine (only like 18 in 11 starts). Heilman either.

                      Any suggestions?

Hmm, let's see. I figure you have 2 options. One, is to lower the CPU contact until you get them to miss a bit more. Or 2, you have to throw a lot more balls out of the zone. That usually can get them to miss more. On 2 strike counts go up and in or low and away and you can usually get them to chase. I hope this helps. If not, get back to me and we'll work on something.

I played 30 games and the top 10 Batting avg are 360 and above! with Arod leading the AL at 472!. LoL its funny because i have awesome games and a below standard start of 15-15. Oh well maybe they will even out as i go throught.

I found that errors at 18 for the AI its perfect and that on HOF AI throws tons of strikes.

I found that errors at 18 for the AI its perfect and that on HOF AI throws tons of strikes.
You need to lower the contact and power ratings (10+ notches to the left) of your elite hitters because those batting averages will slowly go down but the averages will end up about 50 points too high. Aramis Rameriz and Derrek Lee hit .370 - .380 in my first season and I simmed half the games.
