    Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)

I tried using these, and I am not hitting very many homeruns. In 5 or 6 games I have hit 2 HR's, both using the power button on a 2-0 count. I have yet to hit one with the normal swing. I also thing the cpu has only hit 1 or 2 as well.

Other than that, these seem to be pretty good sliders

Same here. Try upping the power slider for both user and cpu. I set this slider at 13 for both and am having great results. Hope this helps.

        Settings I use:

        Difficulty: All-Star
Guess Pitch: Off (I have not tested these sliders with it on, so I'd advise you to do the same. The lower pitch speed should help those making the transition from GP On to GP off)
        Baserunning: Auto
        Fielding: Auto
        Throwing: Manual
Pitching & Batting View: Catcher (A switch to outfield view when pitching might help anyone who finds pitching too easy)
API: On (I find that most of my strikeouts come when I shake off the CPU's fastball and throw something offspeed on the corner at the knees)
Drawing walks: Take pitches until you are thrown a strike for atleast 90% of all at-bats. Take every 2-0 pitch unless there's a RISP. Alot of the time, in 2-1 counts, a pitch on the edge gets called for a ball. Be selective. The first inning of every game should be where you are examining the release point of the opposing pitcher. Watch where his hand ends up, and label that to a spot in the stands. That is where you should be looking before the ball is thrown. It will help you recognize pitches earlier.

*For franchises, make sure to max spending in ALL development areas.

Not sure if you are asking me or not but I use the x button with the left analog. Great job with your sliders BTW. Having some great results, although lost to the Yanks last night.

Check out my franchise in my link below guys. The homeruns will come. I believe I have 10 in 11 games now. Luke Scott just hit 2 in the same game for me a few nights ago. I can only remember 2 of those 10 coming with the power swing. Just keep rolling with them and everything will even out.

              Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)

I gave these a whirl after playing the first month of my franchise using a different set. I've obtained more power using these, as well as I've now been blown out by the computer for the first time in my season.

My last set allowed me to have bad days and lose, but not to the point where none of my pitchers could do anything to stop the other team from racking up the runs.

Great set, I look forward to future changes to improve upon them even further.

I'm using these sliders in my Season play and I walked 6 times in 1 game which I was very pleased to see. In the bottom of the 9th I was walked back to back with the game tied whick I have not have happened with any other slider set I have used. My pitcher was off at times. These sliders are the best I've used by far for my style of play. No disrespect to others who have taken countless hours to get there set together. Peace!!!!!

I just use the X button. Just work the count and wait for something good. It's all about timing.

Wow i love these sliders. Just had a great game against the Diamondbacks. I was the Cubs and lost 5-4 in extra inning in a walk-off from BJ Upton i think.

                      2 Questions for you guys...

                      1. With CPU Plate Discipline at 5 (-15) are yo seeing a realistic amount of strikeouts while still getting a good challenge from the CPU as well?

                      2. With CPU Pitch Control at 5 (-15) are you drawing an average amount of walks? If so, have you tried this at the extreme of 20 and what did you see were the differences?

                      Thanks in advance guys.

I probably strikeout about 6-7 guys a game. I am the Pirates, so they don't have many K pitchers. (especially since Snell got hurt for me). I give up about 4-5 runs a game (although I have had a shutout too).

i don't walk much, but I think that is more my fault. I can't resist swinging at bad pitches when I am ahead in the count.

I've come to find that I need to tweak these sliders a bit to work better for my abilities, but not much as they've mostly got what I'm looking for.

I need to decrease my ability at the dish dramatically, increase the computers ability to strikeout more than once/twice a game.

My ability to hit the ball might just be that I have a fantasy draft team that is absolutely stacked with talent, even for drafting 29th overall. However, the computer just won't strike out much, they usually foul off four or five pitches and then put the ball in play for an out.

I am having a great time with these sliders. At first I was losing and losing bad with a 2-5 record, but then I just changed the batting camera view for me, to something that I felt comfortable with and and now I have a record of 6-5. Now if I could fix my defence and put some lefties into the line up.

Just played my first game with these, a total blowout of the Mets (I was Florida).

                              FLA 9 17 1
                              NYM 1 5 0

                              2.2IP 11H 8R 8ER 0BB 2K 60 Pitches

The rest of the Mets relievers struck me out 10 times. Santana was really, really hittable. I put up 8 of the 9 runs in the third inning. I had four doubles and two HRs, so getting XBHs isn't a problem.

Striking out the cpu seemed to be a problem, though. We'll see how the next game goes.

If these are the sliders that you download (I dont remember the 4.0 being in there) Then have to say these sliders work really well, for me anyway. I usually get between 6-8 strikeouts a game and walk 1-2. I have gotten as many as 12 strikeouts and have walked 3-4. I usually get a 1-2 walks a game however there are some games where I am impatient. I also love the pitch counts these sliders produce, cpu pitchers at least are in the 60's by the 5th. Whereas I am usually in the 70's. I have had both pitchers be in the 100 count by the 4th-5th or 6th. I do notice alot of hits though, I have had atleast 10 hits multiple times - but I think this is just part of the game and not necessarily because of sliders.
